more classic diner decor

First of all, I love an old classic diner and Post Road Diner is in great shape and being worked on to make it even better. The diner has comfortable retro feel, but updated appropriately. I ordered Turkey & dressing w/ mashed potatoes and gravy on all of it. My appetizer choice was chicken noodle soup. I had iced tea and water, and finished w/ fantastic pecan pie alamode. My waiter was prompt to greet me, answer questions on the menu, and all the stuff a waiter should do. I really enjoyed my dinner at Post Road Diner. I would give it a 4.5 but not quite a 5.

This was our second time brunching with my daughter and her family at the Post road Diner. Much like the prototypical diner, it is done over in stainless steel and brick, they have a counter with stools, many tables & booths, period decor, an expansive menu, and holiday specials. I had their Chicken & Waffles, and my lovely wife had their 4th of July Pancakes - three large hotcakes layered with fresh blueberries & strawberries, topped with whipped cream. Neither one of us could come close to finishing! Everyone, from the hostess to the serving staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. This will be our official go-to brunch place in the Norwalk area. If I had to come up with anything not positive, it's that the parking can be a little tight. That's it.

Really good retro style diner! Standard diner fare as well as dishes with a Latino twist! Highly recommend.

If you're looking for a unique experience that takes you back to the disco era, Post Road Diner is the perfect place! From the moment you step in, the seats, the jukebox, and the décor make you feel like you're in the 70s. It's a true time travel experience. I ordered a breakfast with gallo pinto, and it was delicious. The combination of authentic flavors and impeccable presentation made my meal a delight. I highly recommend this place, not only for its excellent food but also for the nostalgic and fun atmosphere. Don't miss it!

Amazing spot! Again, did my usual, searched on this amazing app, put what I had a taste for and BAM The staff was great and Hands down, worth every penny. I'm very particular about my bacon and they delivered 102% man, if you knew me I'm SPECIFIC about my bacon. They OVER DELIVERED on my bacon

I have always loved going to the PRD since I was young. The food is always very good and it's always served nice and fresh every time. The employees are always there to greet you, and always smiling. We get seated quickly every time. They are very kind and caring. Inside the diner, there is always such a vibrant atmosphere. I would definitely recommend going to the Post Road Diner if you are ever in Norwalk, Connecticut!

Cute small little place. Nothing to crave over but the food was good. Service was good. Didn't blow me away. But I did love the interior and feel of the diner and atmosphere

Two eggs over easy

Everything was really good! We ordered chicken pot pie, corned beef with cabbage, eggs easy over and a Cobb salad. Each dish was well seasoned and came out piping hot. The chicken pie filling had the right proportion of chicken with veggies, and the crust was scrumptious. Tho I wish the crust had a bit more salt. Having said that the crust texture was extraordinary with flakiness and texture. The corned beef with cabbage was accompanied with carrots and potatoes- enough for 2-3 persons. The eggs came with strips of bacon and toast was just perfect. And the Cobb salad was fresh and packed with avocados, eggs, chicken, bacon and blue cheese- it was a sight to behold. Everyone oohed and ahhhed when it was brought to the table. The portion size were humongous as you would expect with an authentic diner. Our server was attentive and very professional- constantly refilling our water and he asked if our entrees were acceptable. On route to or from Boston or NY along the 95- you won't be disappointed if you stopped here for your meal. Really one of the best diners around- trust me- I am pretty picky !

Cannoli French toast with a side of Home Fries

We stopped by this diner on our way home from a wedding. The inside of the diner gives off a retro feel which I enjoyed compared the various diners that are changing their interior to be more "modern". We were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly as well. Our waitress was extremely friendly and seemed to have a good relationship with some of the locals who frequent the establishment. I ordered the Cannoli French toast with a side order of home fries and my boyfriend got an egg white omelette. The food tasted good and I loved how the home fries were cook. They were flavorful and soft without being too crispy, which is how I prefer my home fries. The cannoli French toast was pretty good as well. I originally thought it was going to be heavy, but I didn't find that to be the case at all. If you're looking for a diner in the area, try this place out!

They have good food at a good price. Not to noisy. The only thing I wish they had on the menu was a hotdog and hamburger combo with fries.

It's a diner. Does the job when not much else is open. Fries were good. Grilled cheese was good. I would go back.

We just happened to go on Mardi Gras night with a live band! What a great time! The place was so alive and everyone was singing. We stood by the bar and listened to the live band for a while. Then, we went to the dining room side. I had the Mac and Cheese with a side of fries. The Mac and Cheese was so good, I really enjoyed it. The fries were a bit too salty so I didn't finish them. My friend had the Cubano with a side of fries which she loved. I loved the vibe, the food and the staff. Everyone was super friendly and made you feel welcomed. I also saw they have Bingo every 1st of the month, brunch specials and much more. Definitely coming here again!

I personally wouldn't recommend this place or come again. Mostly because of point 3 below…read more 1) The presentation of my smash burger was terrible. The burger came all alone on a metal pan. Normally this is fine. But it was terribly presented lonely on a metal plate. I've had smash burgers before that had way better presentation (see Bar 140 in Shelton, who does this job on point). 2) Drinks. Terrible IPA selection, but at least they put Maine Lunch in a normal pint glass. The biggest issue is my wife ordered a couple Old Fashioned. The first was a "normal" sized glass (see pic) from my experience. She ordered a second drink that came out in a "mini" glass. It was ridiculous. It was the size between a shot glass and a normal Old Fashioned glass. I asked about this, see below. 3) When I asked about the smaller glass size on the second drink, the manager came over and said "the small glass is the normal size, you should be lucky they gave you that larger glass by accident" ummmmmmm hellll noooooooooo. I should feel lucky?????? No sir. The first glass was a NORMAL Old Fashioned sized glass. No way in helllll that second glass was "normal" size. She gets these drinks all the time and they all come in size of the first glass. So don't bullshit me..... The way the manager guy approached this is why i am giving a poor review. There is absolutely no way the second glass was normal size. I just can't accept that. It was a ridiculously small glass. Being put down like I don't know anything is not the way you treat people. You need to approach this type of situation differently.

The seafood is fresh, well presented and tasty. Definitely runs traditional but not in a tired way. The crab stuffed shrimp (see picture) had real connection with the spinach and beurre blanc and as a result the jasmine rice was not dry or incidental to the dish. Service was good although we may have benefited from being a welcome no drama reprieve for our waiter. Given this is Norwalk and next to the harbor, it is perhaps not a shock to learn that entitlement could be on display. It literally was the "a lobster for you, a lobster for you, a lobster for you" kind of approach to ordering at the next table. And then come on man, really? The lobster is served and then you decide you want a sandwich instead and send it back? Showing off for both your kid and for your friend? Perhaps it my Midwest background that makes this so cringe worthy, but let's just say there is a risk of running into more money than sense.

Thirty minutes later, the oysters finally arrived. One was just an empty shell, another looked like it had already been chewed and put back, and the rest were completely dried out. We immediately sent them back. Then, instead of my steak sandwich, I received the wrong order entirely. My wife's $30 croissant had what looked like one tiny shrimp cut in half, while the rest was mostly celery and mayo. After waiting even longer, we asked to speak with a manager, who took another 15 minutes to come over. We explained that we were unhappy with both the food and the service and that we wanted to leave. Shockingly, she told us they prioritize serving their "important clients" first and that we were not a priority because they had a party spending more money. We honestly could not believe what we were hearing. She then told us we had to pay or she would call the police, even though we did not touch the food. Then she asked us to pay $12 for the prosecco. We gave her $20, waited for our change, but she never returned. We left very disappointed and appalled, and we will absolutely never come back.

There's plenty to choose from, and the price is good. That said, I would say Mainport definitely has its ups and downs. Tonight I had the #3 meal and mozzarella sticks. With the fries, I have always found that they were very bland on their own. If you do want to bring out the best in these, you need salt and pepper. Leave them on their own and you will regret it. As for the tenders, they're juicy, but they too could use some of that salt and pepper lovin'. Now for the mozzarella sticks, you actually do not need anything extra here. No sauce required! I ordered this dinner while recovery from an illness that required a trip to the doctor, and the taste of these mozzarella sticks still shined through and tasted good even with the taste of meds constantly alerting me of its presence in my mouth. So overall, the food's decent. It's glorified fast food, but as long as you're okay with that, you should be fine ordering from here. I will say its interior doesn't seem very appealing (or clean for that matter), but at least you do have a TV to keep you company as you wait for your food. Also, you are incentivized to use cash. Of course, I don't use cash unless there is no other option, but if it saves you money, then by all means bring cash. So yeah, I'll leave a 3 here. It's not bad, but nothing really wowed me either. You get what you get.
