A rainy Friday evening created the perfect cozy backdrop for a family dinner at the Post House. Our tucked away window seat booth was great to catch up on family talk.the lighting was set in way that created a warm ambiance. Our server Michelle was friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu with encyclopedic recall on each dish. She was attentive and overall very effective. We started with the Blue Crab Toast and Anson Mills Cornbread. Both were tasty. In fact, the Blue Crab Toast would make a wonderful sandwich. The brioche bread couple with the flavorful chili flavored crab salad was spectacular. A must get! The corn bread was very good with a hint of lemon..incredibly moist. Our party had numerous entrees. Paccheri Nero had just the perfect combination of garlic, herbs and shrimp. Tender and flavorful. The roast cauliflower and avocado salad had just the right mix of spicy tahini dressing to make it delicious. Others at the table had the Backbar Cheeseburger. A standard burger with a sauce that made it interesting. Nothing wow on this entree. The most unique dish was the Clams and Kielbasa. Fresh made kielbasa with steamed clams and cabbage. Simple, tasty and very satisfying. The kielbasa was well seasoned and tender. This combination of pork, clams and cabbage was outstanding! Another amazing dinner. The service here is unbelievable from start to finish. Everyone is so nice. They were so attentive to our 2 year old and even brought out his meal first so he can start crushing. The chicken Normandy was cooked to perfection, juicy, and had their spin on it. The Post House Inn is a fantastic place to stay. In the heart is Old Towne surrounded by local shops. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful during our stay. Excellent continental breakfast. While Mt Pleasant folks may be tuned into dining here at the Post House on Pitt in Old MP, out of state visitors likely find it too far off the beaten path. I for one, would love to keep it that way! It is a favorite go to when we have out of town guests and want to share the creative food and drinks the Low country has to offer in a relaxed but memorable, ambience. This weekend did not disappoint either; so do not be put off if the menu changes with what you may see online. The specialty drink menu offers a number of creative concoctions for the adventurous which change periodically, or standard options. Have never gone wrong here. This time the mix of tequila/mescal/absinthe ( and something else I cannot recall! ) had just the right unique blend of flavors. The cornbread small plate and the broiled Brussels sprouts with a basalmic and bacon mix were perfect starters to share amongst the four of us; the latter are some of the best ever tasted, right up there with those at Leon's Oyster House! The grouper was a sizable portion : meaty but moist with a thin crunchy and flavorful crust on top - all over a bed of tasty (what looked like ) lentils. Could not have been more perfect! Our waiter Evan was friendly without being obsequious, helpful, and available. The service was attentive without being overbearing and though we were one of the last parties to leave, felt no pressure to hurry along. First time here and we loved it. My wife and I had an early reservation on Friday night. I was surprised how busy it was, bar was full and people everywhere. Had a nice Charleston vibe. Nice selection of wines both bottles and by the glass. Food menu was not huge which i like but enough to choose from plus a few specials. Please take the salt out of the squid ink/shrimp entree called Paccheri Nero. It was so salty and actually disgusting. My husband wanted to send it back, but it just didn't seem polite. The poached grouper with turnips was also very bad with undercooked almost raw turnips and a wad of grouper too tough to cut. On a good note, the clams, sausage was very good. We were so excited to eat at the Post House. Please change the menu. The selections aren't Charleston outstanding. We wanted dessert, but just wanted to get the heck out of there. Have not visited in a while but my return was quite a disappointment from last time when my husband and I had brunch there. Music was too loud to hear each other speak or for the server to hear what we were ordering. Staff were hurried and appeared rushed and rude. They may be struggling to find people to work here but this was not an endearing quality. Had an issue and requested to speak to the manager but our server refused to comply with the request. Eventually I spoke with him directly. He was indifferent and did not try to rectify the issue. Unfortunately, this has ruined the place for me and I will not be returning. read more

This is clearly the post of the original restaurant. I see what they tried to do but it is clear they missed the mark. Enjoy the honeymoon period because the days are numbered. First I will start with the positives. This is easy because there are few. Nice decor, people were nice and it started on a good note. Ordered drinks and they server said we were in for a treat because of the fresh bread sourced locally. We order drinks and they were average. Woodford Sours.. A frothy mess with nutmeg or some spice!! WTH!! Then we order an appetizer and it was a great. Fried Polenta! Very good but bland. The server told us it was bland and told us to get a dipping sauce. We ordered our dinner at the same time, we ate our app and finished our drinks. 25 mins later our food arrived. Sadly it was cold and very underwhelming. While we waited I asked about the bread. She mentioned we don't do bread service but I could order a side. . Well of course I said yes she mentioned minute one, The bread arrived cold and dry, just as the new redone fish order. Fail!! My fish was raw in the middle and that was the end of the experience. The manager apologized and removed my dinner and the 2nd round of drink but we were forced to pay for the 2nd fish dinner and the cold bread. Will never return, wish them the best of luck. read more

Sadly this was an extremely disappointing dinner. The physical building is lovely, after that it was all downhill. Other than the cornbread there was not one item we ate that I would order again, especially given the high price point. Ceaser salad was just ok at best. The shrimp fritters were inedible, they were unidentifiable as containing shrimp , the sauce was awful, we could not eat them after trying a bite. Even though the plate was cleared from the table still full, and though we said that they were really not at all tasty, the item was not removed from the bill. Our family have eaten at the Post House many times before it closed and refurbished. Now open again, we returned for Mothers Day to be greeted by a blunt almost rude server (Lexi) who proceeded to completely underwhelm us. As the menu had nothing of interest (very disappointing) we decided to leave. We spoke to the restaurant Manager on the way out, who honestly didn't care and was unapproachable and dismissive. Enjoyed a date night at The Post House last night. Our server, Taylor, was delight as was the ambiance of the patio where we enjoyed our meal. I started with the Pamplemousse cocktail, as an app, we shared the blistered Shishito peppers (the lemon aioli on those baby boys is fab!) and the caesar salad (an FYI to non-Spanish speakers, "boquerones" are anchovies) - we thoroughly enjoyed both. For our meal, we split the burger and it was delicious!! I don't typically like large, steak-cut fries but the ones served with the burger were crispy and delicious! For dessert we shared the chocolate torte with a scoop of salted caramel gelato- Yum!! The service at Post House is unlike anything I've ever experienced! They were always finding ways to help us carry our bags, load our coolers with ice, etc. We hosted my sister's bachelorette at Post House and they were so graceful with our last minute room cancellations too. The amenities are modern while maintaining the historic details of the house. In addition, the breakfast baskets were delicious and the food at the restaurant is truly some of the best in the country. read more

My friends and I had the BEST experience at post house. Not only did their menu/branding feature a snail which just so happens to be our high school's mascot (#festinalente) but the service was honestly the best. Warm, friendly and well paced! The food was also AMAZING. None of us are steak fry fans but the ones with the burger were drool worthy. The pasta was amazing, as was the fish curry and the pork dish. The salads were on point and the oysters were amazing. They were also wonderful with my sometimes cranky rescue dog who sat under the table. We stayed here 3 nights and had the most wonderful experience! It is a gorgeous building on the loveliest street. We never had trouble finding a parking spot. The beds were so comfy and the breakfast was great. The staff was amazing and we felt so welcomed and right at home. I was so sad to leave! We will for sure be back the next chance we get! read more

Went based on prior reviews as my husband was having an operatitiob at MUSC the next day and we weren't really familiar with the area. We were stating in Mt. Pleasant and wanted somewhere close. It wasn't as close as we wanted to the hotel but worth every minute of travel. All I can say is YUM, YUM, YUM. We got the dinner version burger (apparently, the lunch one is different) and the Mac & cheese. Both were amazing! We asked for the burger to be medium rare and it was perfect. Sorry, should've taken pictures. The burger was huge! 3/4 lb! My martini was also perfect. Courtney, our server was perfect. We will be back! Thanks for making a stressful evening easier!! read more

The restaurant is beautiful but sadly, the food does not rise to the occasion. I looked at the menu online and everything sounds great. We started with three appetizers; the yellowfin crudo. The presentation seemed like an afterthought. The slices of raw fish lay flat on the plate in a pool of sour tasting blood orange / lemon sauce. Next was the ceviche, mahi-mahi. This was better but still didn't quite hit the mark in presentation or flavor. The Panzanella salad had neither heirloom tomatoes or heritage cucumber. It was grocery store all the way. The croutons obviously made with yesterday's left over cornbread. The main courses were a little better but the portions ridiculously small. The hanger steak $30 and mahi-mahi fillet $36 couldn't have been more than 4 oz. We didn't even bother with desert. read more

Went here for Mother's Day and had an absolutely terrible time. From the start our server Lexi was rude and hurried when we had only just sat down. We quickly got our drink order together and me and my sister gave our IDs upon request, we are 21 and 25 years old - we go out all over Charleston and never have a problem. She took our IDs away from the table without saying anything about it and then came back and asked for another form of ID which neither of us have ever had happen to us before. She didn't even seem to know what she was asking for and we were both confused as to what she wanted. We asked why she needed them and she said something like we aren't sure if we can accept these. I completely understand you may need to check IDs but her delivery and the way she treated us was beyond disrespectful. She could have handled this in a way that was appropriate in a fine dining atmosphere but my parents were absolutely horrified that she was claiming that they were bringing in underaged kids to drink with fake IDs in such a blunt way. She claimed her manager agreed with her and refused to bring him to the table. The food options were mediocre at best so we got up and left. On our way out we talked to said manager about what happened and he had no care at all and did not try to rectify the situation in any way, no apology. It's a shame because the place is so pretty but you can't hide ugly personalities:( read more
