Typical portrait studio. You can sign up for coupons, posed settings and shots, very pricey, they push for packages, ect, ect. I think you know what you're getting yourself into when you go to one of these studios. What pushed it over the top, and the reason I gave 4 stars, was how the session actually went. My mother in law wanted pictures of the whole extended family when we came into town. My 4 year old son was pretty nervous and clingy about it. The girl helping the photographer was amazing. She got so many laughs from him and got him to warm up and be comfortable really quickly. Awesome. read more

I definitely felt like there could have been better preparation on the studios behalf. The staff overall were very friendly, however they were exceptionally busy so the shoot was more thrown together and felt super rushed. We got moved to a different room half way through due to others coming in for Christmas portraits. I went in estimating costs around $100 from my prior phone consultation and post shoot was being quoted $299-$599. When asked for a price list or available breakdown it was like some big secret. I asked if you were able to purchase the high resolution cd, but was told you can't do that without a package option. Also, individual prints cost you $28 PER pose for two sheets... A 6 pose portrait package sets you at $185 after tax which I was told was the lowest available "package". Not being able to see pricing options was beyond frustrating especially when a 33 print portrait package is being advertised online for $20-$29.99. I completely understand that pictures are an investment. I spent $175 for an on location photographer in the spring and felt that I got a lot more out of that shoot. I was provided an hour, didn't feel rushed, AND was given the digital rights for 30 high resolution pictures. I don't think I'll be booking in this studio again anytime soon. read more

Our family has used this place several times over the years. They present you with a ton of pictures and help you pick out which ones are better, along with a package that meets your needs. Honestly, I think it's affordable! I have tons of pictures of my nieces growing up that are super cute, and they always do great ones of my sister and I as adults. This last visit there is a picture of my dad and my sister and I that makes me cry every time I see it. Thank you for capturing the personalities of my family so well over the years! read more

I scheduled my appointment time, and like most toddlers, my son was not cooperating. They offered to reschedule during the same day. The professionalism of the employees is outstanding! I would choose this business as my number one choice for all of my photos! read more

Had our first babies pics taken here when she was three weeks old. The photographer seemed to be slightly new(or at least new to babies) but still did an amazing job. The studio is nice with many photo options and will work with you to get that perfect photo you had in mind. read more

A little nervous about coming here because of cost factors. However we were greeted by Rodney who was absolutely great & very efficient & professional. I checked in online for our appointment & was taken immediately when we got there. I needed college portraits. He did 60 shots in 10 minutes & then I picked what I liked. They do do packages which start out at over $500 however I got that narrowed down to $134. I was very upfront about what I was getting & upfront about the cost. No problems. I am also getting a disc with all the photos to use on the computer. I'm very happy with this service & as long as you are decisive & determined on sticking to budget you will be fine. Loved it. The photographer was great with my 6 year old and my newborn. Love the variety of seasonal backgrounds. Price for initial package extremely reasonable but are quite a bit for extra sheets and poses. Also some of props seem a little worn out. read more

Terrible experience! Was not properly directed. Felt rushed. Needed a specific kind of portrait done and was not satisfied with outcome. Will not recommend and will be returning in a.m. to speak with manager. To have to come back is time consuming and upsetting! read more

Unbelievable, no customer service! We had a 4:00 appointment when we arrived (on time) we were told to wait until a room became available... There are two visible rooms as soon as you walk in, one of them which was clearly open. The unnamed woman who greeted us at the desk to check in gave us this information. After my two year old started to become fussy she said we would just go ahead and start this... Well, toddlers are unpredictable as we all know. When my daughter didn't cooperate the way she saw fit ( in the process of me trying to console her) she very rudely proceed to ask my husband if this was our first time here. When he said no we had been several times before, she said she would give us time to get her together and try again. When she returned a minute later, she got some pictures taken. Obviously she thought they were horrible! She gave up on our session, when asked by myself and a coworker of hers if we could just look at what was taken she shook her head and arms in disgust and walked away! My daughter is 2, she was asking her to stand still with hand on hips, no smiling at her or even trying to connect with my child in anyway! Children take work and patience. This was unacceptable! On top of it all the she never even gave us her name! Way to go Portrait Innovations, in Mt. Pleasant SC. I'll be calling to make a complaint in the morning. I hope no one else will have to go through this. One star given, 0 isn't an option. read more

I will NEVER go back to this studio again. I have a 6 week old and a 22 month old. We arrived 15 minutes early so that I could feed my newborn and be promptly ready for our appointment. They were not as concerned with punctuality because it was not until 45 minutes after our appointment time that they finally came to us and told us they were ready...no apology, no "thanks for waiting." Once they started taking pictures, I knew we were on borrowed time with the limited patience of a toddler and newborn. I had told the photographer how important it was to get a sweet picture of my 2 girls. At one point, he had the camera pointed directly at them and he told my toddler to give her sister a kiss. She leaned in and gave the sweetest hug and I said "oh that's it." He said "no, you need to kiss her." Really? He was more concerned about getting a staged shot than a naturally sweet one. Well, my toddler didn't feel like kissing her, so we got no shot. After the session was over it was time to pick out the pictures. I asked if we could just purchase a CD with the images, and I was told that they did not do that. This was annoying since their website advertised that you can get a portrait CD. They explained to me that they don't do that anymore and that we can look at our virtual account online and burn our own CD of low resolution pictures. We have always purchased the CD with the high resolution pictures at other places since I like to include professional pictures in family albums that I make on Shutterfly. I will obviously not be able to do this with these pictures. I would have gone somewhere else if I'd known this ahead of time. Since I could not get a CD I had to look at all the pictures right then with 2 children who were going downhill fast. I wanted to look at all the pictures and just pick out the ones I wanted, but the photographer would not let me do that. He said that we had to start with a package that contained all the pictures ($500+) and take the pictures out one by one. This is an exhaustingly SLOW process. Ten minutes into it and my newborn was screaming. He did not seem to care. He proceeded to tell stories about his birthday and other things to make the process even slower. This may have been part of his strategy for us to purchase more because after we had narrowed the pictures from 60 to 18 poses, I said that I had to go because my children were screaming, and I couldn't hear what he was saying anymore anyways. Because I didn't have more time to narrow down the pictures, I ended up spending about $300 for way more pictures than I will ever need and no CD. 3 1/2 hours after our appointment time, we finally walked out of the studio. Should have know better - that's why I gave 2 starts instead of 1. Although staff were very friendly and helpful w/ my children, they didn't listen to a word I said about my preference for plain backgrounds and candid shots vs. posed pictures with props. It was difficult for me to find pictures I liked of my children b/c they were ruined with a fake flower or pink satin blanket or the lady asking my toddler to "sit like a princess" (yuck, I hate those posed-type pics). Then after the photo shoot ended I wanted to come back at a later time to choose the photos/packages I wanted without two screaming kids on my hip and was told I could not do that b/c they didn't have the ability to save my shoot on their computer. So instead I took the bait and was high pressured into choosing cheesy pics right then and there. Later I discovered that the whole "we can't save your pics on our computer" thing was not true as they e-mailed me a copy of my shoot. All in all, a decent place to go if you need standard shots, props, or poses in a hurry but be prepared for someone else to take creative control of the shoot from the start and high pressure sales when the shoot is finished. read more
