The family is warm and welcoming. They were not only patient with my terrible Italian, they were incredibly encouraging. (Federica speaks English if your Italian is worse even than mine.) Stay in their old, renovated cantina, and visit the new one around the corner to taste their wines and tour the fantastic new complex. Tante grazie a la famiglia Luisa!

Golden Rooms B&B is perfectly located for Trieste visitors arriving by train. It's about a 7…read moreminute walk from the train station toward Barcola and the promenade along the Adriatic. We stopped at the newspaper stand in the train station and bought a ten strip bus ticket, and also purchased a "HopTour" 24hour ticket. Easy transportation from Golden Rooms to the Barcola and further up to the Costello Miramare on Bus 6, the stop is about one block back toward the train station from Golden Rooms. Our room was huge, not something you find at every B&B in Europe. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. Really strong water pressure, another rarity. Best of all for us though is the in room air conditioner. The breakfast was a good way to start the day. Super friendly hosts (English is not their first language so be patient). But they treated us like family. If we ever return to Trieste, we will stay at the Golden Rooms again. It was a great place to stay for our two nights in this lovely coastal city.
