This is a nice port with a good layout that is easy to find and easy to navigate. I have traveled through here four or five times now and each time it has been a simple process. read more

We booked this Ferry pretty last minute as we had an emergency come up. I had no clue what a Stena…read moreLine Ferry was going to be like and was quite nervous for my first overnight ferry. We checked in through customs and the ticket booth and waited with the other guests. My nerves were getting to me as I had no clue if I would get sea sick or what. But the second we drove up on deck and loaded our gear into our shared cabin all of those nerves went away! This was not a ferry... it was a miniature cruise!! The two of us thirty-year-old men wandered the deck like a couple of kids in a Chucky Cheese! There were several restaurants, shops, bars, an entertainer and a movie theater. All of my anxiety was immediately gone the second we were able to explore this ship! The food was amazing, we, of course, had the fish and chips for dinner and an Irish breakfast in the morning. The entertainer was awesome and I loved the Irish atmosphere that carried on in the bars. The ship did eventually start to sway, but you only felt it when walking as you started to swerve on your feet. When I got restless I would get on the deck and sit by the helipad. this was close to the center for the ship and I felt just fine afterward. Sleeping in the shared cabin went pretty well. There were about 20 people in the 50 seated cabin and most of us slept on the floor instead of the reclining chairs. I bought noise canceling headphones which were very helpful. Overall this was a fantastic journey that I would recommend over and over again. If you are traveling by car in Europe and need to take a ferry, Stena is the line for you!!

They are rude, insensitive, and actually even used threats to respond to us. We arrived with our guide dog from Paris with a train, and needed a taxi to get from the Cherbourg Train Station to the Irish Ferries Terminal, which is 3 km away. No one of this company drivers (about 5 of them) wanted to pick us up, even though it is against the law to refuse a guide dog. We had to start slowly walking with the dog and 2 large suitcases. Luckly a nice guy from Hertz Rental saw us, and offered us a quick ride to the ferry terminal, if it wasn't for him, we would miss our boat.
This driver refused us and went to pick up someone else.

This 9am departing ferry takes about an hour to reach overpriced Jersey, which is described as a…read morechannel island yet it's not in the channel but the St Michel bay. It was mostly a smooth return crossing. The seating aboard is just about comfortable, but you'll discover that the crew unhelpfully 'block' the exit door as you alight to go ashore with passenger luggage. The heaviest workload is by two almost pleasant staff selling booze & tobacco. If you are on a day trip you can purchase on the outward and they hold it for your return. Be very careful about returning as the published departure was 6pm but ours departed a full 20 minutes early (despite going late that morning). The crew had insisted to us as we left the boat that we check in that evening by 5pm so they clearly plan to get home early. As it was we got there about 5:20pm and we were the last. The boat departed about 5 minutes after we boarded. There's lots of free parking at the harbour area, but nothing else at the peninsula and the nearest town is quite small - it would take under 10 minutes to walk around it. The ferry itself is not disabled or child in pram friendly in fact it's very far from it. The building you depart from is barely comfortable with few facilities and organisationally haphazard with queues for tickets, security and customs. Having done it once that's it. We learned while in Jersey that its tourism trade has fallen dramatically from real highs in the 1980's but it's so expensive for everything so it ain't rocket science to remedy the problem but we also found that despite the plethora of politicians 'in charge' there's no political will to do so. Seems banking and insurance are more important.
