Popular Center is a 19-story office building in the heart of Hato Rey's business district, "La Milla de Oro". It is owned by Banco Popular (hence the name). As such, you will find their headquarters here, as well as a Banco Popular branch and other of their services like PopularOne and Popular Mortgage. Several businesses rent office space here. On the ground level is a pharmacy, some shops, a laboratory, and a food court. The food court is open for breakfast and lunch. Between 3-4p the food options close.
Current food options:
- La Hacienda: breakfast and gourmet lunch buffet
- Café Hacienda San Pedro: coffee and tea, pastries, sandwiches
- Bienlatino: breakfast, soups and sandwiches
- Acapulco: Mexican (lunch only)
- Provençal: Bistro
The food court is only open on weekdays. Some of the other businesses may open on weekends, such as the cinema, but otherwise the building is dead on the weekend. The 19th floor (PH) has a restaurant. It closed during the pandemic, but it offered a nice view of the city, especially at night.
On the 2nd floor there is the bank, a gift shop, dentist, and optometrist. Also, there is a giant outdoor patio with some ponds (some with koi fish) Many use it to enjoy a quiet lunch, snack, or just chill. Some nights there may be private events held here. There is a giant screen. During the World Cup, for example, the games are televised on the screen. On the other side of patio is the Fine Arts Cinema Café, aka Fine Arts Popular.
There is a pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Ave. Luis Muñoz Rivera and connects the patio with access to the Hato Rey train station and Coliseum, as well as Tinto y Blanco restaurant. The building has a parking structure with entrances on both Ave. Luis Muñoz Rivera and Ave. Juan Ponce de León. I am only aware of validation given by the bank and the cinema, not sure about the other businesses or offices.
Overall, a very nice building. Building has public wi-fi. read more
