There is a cobblestone road to take you up by car, with limited parking space, also, an ongoing paid shuttle service running up and down the hill. Though the natural beauty and serenity of the Atlantic Rainforest is a blessing to appreciate when climbing up on foot by either the cobblestone road, or the original trail used by the Jesuits. That might be a bit of a workout for some, but it just adds to the experience and bliss once you reach the top and marvel at the views. Inevitably, there are steps to get to the building itself, and marvel some more at the the Baroque artwork and learn about local history. Also, masses are held several times a day. This is an important and beautiful landmark that can be missed!
