Quaint little resort directly on the banks of the Miramichi river. We were the only guests there on this weekday evening, other than one other cabin next to us.
We arrived in the afternoon of another overcast day but the charm of the wooden cabins and beauty of the location in autumn colors took away the grey.
We reminded them that we had a complimentary salmon and cracker plate, which they delivered after we checked in (yet forgot the wine that accompanied it) and our leftover wine helped wash it down.
Unfortunately we did not have the requisite orange clothes to take a walk along the river - it was deer hunting season and hunters are known to shoot at anything that moves - so we could not walk along the river bank path. Too bad indeed!
Our cabin was 2 bdr with a porch, with 3 beds, full kitchen, living room and a basic bathroom. We played pioneers for the evening, complete with a wood burning stove, and hit the sack early. No internet will do that for ya!
After a barely defined continental breakfast - 2 bags of instant oatmeal porridge and 4 pieces of wonder bread type slices in a bag - with Kirkland coffee, not bad, we hit the road. read more
