When our Honda Odyssey's transmission went out - I gave my husband the job of finding a reputable…read moretransmission place to replace it. He found FNA. One of the reasons he chose them is that they offer a 3 year/36k mile warranty on their rebuilt transmissions. Wow, right? They fixed it almost 3 years ago ( our anniversary is 9/27) and on the way back from New Jersey - our transmission gave way again - and let me tell you, we were concerned about how to handle this. Mike was amazing - he didn't balk at all (at least to us) when he had to find a place that was as close as he could get to where we were brokedn down - Cherry Hill NJ - and that would take us in and handle diagnosing and fixing whatever transmission problem it happened to be. (I will yelp about Mike's Transmission in Collingdale PA too). Mike's Transmission in PA worked well with us and with FNA and although we had to stay in NJ for a few days, we were happy to get our van back. The one thing that I have to say about Mike at FNA - he is very kind on the phone with people like me who haven't got a clue. He is willing to work with us in ways that go above and beyond what the world has come to expect from a mechanic. Thanks Mike and Mary (the office manager) for being there for us!

Creedon's Transmissions - Don't waste your time here unless it's a muscle or classic car. Will not work on daily riders.

My vehicle has low miles but not in the greatest shape visually but mechanically solid. I told them what was happening when driving. Immediately after, he said he wouldn't even diagnose it and recommended me to another transmission shop. My car is a fairly common vehicle with the transmission being used in a number of vehicles for many models and years. I was disappointed and walked out. The shop was half full of muscle cars actively being worked on.. It seems that's all they do and want to keep it that way. I really don't think they want to work on any daily riders. I assume this because of all the rust build-up on hardware, which makes this difficult but not impossible. If you have a regular daily or even seasonal car, don't bother to bring it here unless it's a classic or muscle car. He will just waste your time and mislead you to other shops, which are sub par. What ever happened to the Ammco shop down the street? They would at least give me a free diagnostic and always got good service there when i had work done. It's now SPG and they don't give free diagnostic tests. I would stay away if your car is in daily use in the northeast salt belt.

I do not recommend Ideal Transmission whatsoever. I've had 2 lengthy experiences with them. The…read morefirst time they rebuilt my transmission, they neglected to put the bolts back on my tire rods and I was put in a lot of danger. My steering went out on the highway, my car shook violently, but luckily I was able to pull off the highway and wait for a tow after which the tow truck driver asked me if I had any enemies who were trying to hurt me. A year later, I went back to Ideal because I had what appeared to be another transmission problem and it was under warranty. Long story short, it took them 2 weeks to even determine that it wasn't the transmission but a dead computer, and they had my car for an entire month. The worst part is that every time I called, Rob would tell me he'd give me a call back with an update. I never once received a phone call from him. Terrible communication and service. I know it was a rough winter but don't string your customers along that way, especially one whose life you previously put at risk. Definitely take your car to a more professional, reliable shop for transmission problems.
