Great burgers, blue plate specials, and all the typical diner specialities. Open 24 hours it is always busy. Moderate pricing and high quality food and service make it a local favorite. Stopped here on a Saturday night at 5:30. Was busy but we were able to get a booth with no wait. Ordered the turkey burger with the works and disco fries. The cheese and gravy were the right portion and tasted amazing. Turkey burger was awesome too. One thing they do that most restaurants don't is ask if you want the condiments and sides with your meal LTO, pickles and cole slaw. Prompt service with getting our food within 10 minutes. Friend got 3 refills on soda and was never charged for one. One tip though: Get there early on Saturdays. When we left at 6:30, the line to get in was out the door. There was a literally a line of cars exiting 23 to get in. Will come back soon to try the pancake combo: eggs, pancakes and bacon/ham. read more

We had frequently visited this establishment in the past as did our parents / siblings and grandparents. It always provided us with homemade food and a welcoming service. Unfortunately this establishment is not what it once was. I Ordered a bowl of chicken soup and chili on a cold winter evening for myself and a sick wife. When I sat down with the wife to eat, the chicken soup had chunks of chicken that looked like chicken by the sea in a can. Vegs were soggy as if they were in the soup over 48 hours. Very disappointed. As for my chili, I had ordered the same chili 3 yrs prior and was pleased with the quality of food. Unfortunately this chili was not the same. Very bland and flavorless. I'm not sure what has happened with this establishment. When I was paying for my food, the clerk behind the counter wasn't welcoming either. I also heard my name get mispronounced from the woman who took my telephone order ( which is ok because mistakes happen, no worries ). The employee verbally abused the new employee in front of me and I found it demoralizing. I'm sorry, but I can't continue to spend my hard earned money here. The Pompton Queen Diner never disappoints! It is seriously one of the best diners in New Jersey! I have never had a bad experience here with my food or the service. Since there is typically a line out the door, you have to place you name at the hostess station. The line goes quick and they turn over tables fast. I got their Greek Salad Sandwich, which is one of my favorite meals here. Their Greek Salad Sandwich comes with your choice of salad or fries on the side. I chose fries. The sandwich was stuffed to the max with fresh and top quality ingredients. The sandwich has chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, olives, and feta cheese that is mixed with romaine lettuce and a Greek vinaigrette, wrapped in a warm toasted pita. This is the perfect dish for you if you enjoy a Greek salad, Mediterranean food or follow a vegetarian diet. The fries are also thin and crispy. I have also have had their omelets for breakfast, which I highly recommend. I give the Pompton Queen dinner a 5/5 for food, service, parking and pricing. read more

Lots of choices including NY style salads & with of course breakfast at any hour. Our gents enjoyed burgs piled with choice of fries. ($10) I had the hot open fresh turkey, one of the only meats I eat. It was $16 & came with salad, veggie & for my potato I picked sweet potato fries whose wedges looked homemade. The gravy I requested on the side was barely meh & I brought home some turkey & fries. Other friend had half her huge salad left; we both started with a Mythos brew. I ordered my favorite diner food: the spinach pie and a Greek salad. The pie had a flaky dough and perfectly seasoned spinach. My husband ordered the pot roast sandwich with a side of fries. Both dishes were huge and left us more than satisfied. The waitress was so friendly, which made the whole experience one of my favorite diner experiences. And the bill was less than $25. Never been disappointed by this place. Spent many late nights here after poker night or parties. Usually I get The Texas Lone Star Burger(I think that is the name) burger. The burger is good and the petal sauce makes it amazing. I recently tried their new Cubano Sandwich and it was very good. It is a bit different than a normal Cuban sandwich it has relish rather than pickles and it has pulled pork on it. My only criticism of it is maybe go easier on the pulled pork or add more cheese, ham, relish and mustard because the pulled pork overpowered the other ingredients on half my sandwich but the other half had a more balance of flavors/ingredients. The service is alwsys great and the owners are friendly. They also make it very eady to split the check which can't be eaud for modt places. Sammy(one of the owners) is always quick to crack a joke and make you feel like friends. There is The Queen and there is everyone else. read more

This used to be our favorite and only diner, but recently some menu changes have really put a damper on our time here. The real game changer has been the homefries, that is a staple item we would order all the time and now they are just subpar. Most of the other stuff is still pretty good, but I would rather go to tops. Hope they get it back together soon. This diner is legit. I've been here numerous times and it's always been consistently good and always crowded.. for good reason! Coming on the weekends and busier times your probably going to wait. Even coming during lunch time can be a little hectic but I've always had good service. The food is excellent for diner standards. The prices are a little higher than your average diner but I think it's justified for the quality and quantity of food you get. The portions are huge and everything is always fresh and hot. I really enjoy the grilled chicken sandwiches and the salads which they give you plenty of protein on. My favorite sandwich is the chicken Mykonos sandwich which comes with crumbled feta cheese, roasted red peppers, eggplant, zucchini and olive oil in a pita served with tzatziki sauce. So delicious! I used to order the matzo ball soup every time I passed the Pompton Queen, and it was some of the best I've ever had. I'm not sure if they changed ownership or management in the last couple of years but the quality has gone way down hill in respect to the soup. It tastes like the jeriatric special with dishwater as the base and it's like they just don't care anymore or season anything. I'm giving it 2 stars, only because our waiter was competent and friendly. Walked in and requested a table for 8 on a Saturday. The diner wasn't what I would call packed, there were plenty of open tables. The hostess told me to "call the rest of your people, I'm not seating you until I know where they are." Should have walked out then. We ordered our food and it came out unusually quick, considering it had gotten busy since we sat down and we ordered 8 meals. It was so quick that a roast beef sandwich came out raw. Not rare. Not red. Cold and bloody with lukewarm gravy on it. Someone ordered a half chicken. The leg was cooked, and then the rest was raw. Pink, raw. They offered to "cook it longer." Disgusting. The Greek salad was next. Came with grilled chicken, and covered in slime. The salad was inedible. Before I left I used the restroom. While in there some came sprinting in and started violently vomiting. I hope that is not foreshadowing the rest of my evening. I was told from many people that this place was good, but now it's hit or miss. Today was a swing and a miss. I don't think we'll ever be back. read more

I've loved coming to this diner for years. The waitresses/waiters for the most part have always been absolute dolls. The food has been great. Only reason for a four star review that is recently, when I ask for curbside, I typically get a lot of attitude thrown my way. The owner has always been an absolute sweetheart, and the one lady up front has been as well. Not sure about the other folks at the front (who I assume are managers). I always ask nicely and when I've asked to make sure it's actually something they can do I always get a yes? I'm not sure why other staff here have recently been rude when I ask for curbside. I've been here on so many occasions all for breakfast. I am a huge food junkie and I crave the most random things. I've enjoyed two omelettes here, a fruit parfait, cannoli pancakes! Nothing is disappointing here. Everything is also reasonably priced. Depending on the time you're going on a weekend morning it tends to be busy so be prepared to wait just a few minutes. Been coming here since I moved to the area. About 25 years. Sometimes the wait can be a little extensive but when you're the best diner around what can you expect. The food is consistently good. They are quick to bring the food out. Waitresses and waiters are always friendly and attentive. You don't think drinks when you go to a diner but they have top-shelf alcohol 4 incredibly reasonable prices. I had a Tito's martini. I think I paid something like $9.
