Should have known by the stink in my car after I went through the drive thru that we would end up sick! Have ordered tacos through the drive thru from pollo regio about four times. On 5/4/25 I ordered 5 tacos and about three hours after eating my GF and I were both sick. The tacos had a very strong smell. On two previous occasions we found chicken bones in the tacos which could have been very dangerous. The employees are incapable of getting the details of orders correct as we have always asked for pica de gallo instead of grilled onions and the closest they got was removing the grilled onions and adding hot sauce. As I reflect back on our experiences this might be the most dangerous place I have ever been to!? We will never return! read more

I'm new to Texas and landed on Pollo Regio when looking for a dinner spot close to Costco, being completely unaware that it's a regional chain. When I walked in with my family, the signage and ambience didn't exactly blow me away, but once we received our food, it was a different story. There are complimentary chips and salsa with your entrée-the chips were fresh, hot, and delicious, especially when paired with some of the various salsas. My wife, toddler son, and I split 5 corn tacos and a barbacoa Regio Platter, which was plenty of food for us. The barbacoa was top notch, moist, flavorful, and better than I've had at many "proper" restaurants. The charro beans served alongside were far better than I expected, as well. Slow cooked beans with ham? At a fast food joint? Oh yeah! The tacos were tasty. While some of the meat was a little dry, that's kind of expected anywhere that serves tacos. The grilled onions, cilantro, lime, and salsa take care of that dryness. Prices are a bit lower than what you'd pay at a sit down restaurant, and the servings we received were generous- we're talking tacos packed with meat. Service was fast, friendly, and helpful. If you're in the mood for Mexican and are passing through Rockwall, this Pollo Regio is a great choice! read more

My wife actually found this place and by the name, I thought it was a El Pollo Loco knockoff with the chicken as the mascot with the cowboy hat. However, my life saw the sauce and knew that I would love the place. They do sell the chicken like El Pollo Loco, but they sell hamburgers, tortas, nachoes, tacos, salad and bowl. They have a healthy and a bad food option. I choose to get the nachos (unhealthy option). The ironic thing was they had all you can eat chips, a salsa bar with pickled onions and lettuce. They have a green salsa which I recommend an a orange looking one which is alright. It was somewhat spicy, but not too bad. The place does get busy. Food overall was great, the meat was tender and the chips come out hot and fresh as well. I got full from the chips and I only ended up eating half of the nachos. I will recommend not to eat at Pollo Regio. I went to eat there on Sunday night, 4/6/2025. I ordered the taco sample plate and ate it at the location. Yes, the food tasted good but I didn't think that at three thirty in the morning I would be throwing up all the food I ate. I vomited multiple times because of the food borne illness. This ruined my business trip in which I had to call in sick on Monday to partially recover from this. I regret going to this eatery. I highly recommend not eating here. Go elsewhere. read more

Came to visit pollo regio using the drive through window for the first time and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The customer service was AMAZING the gentleman assisting us brought our food out in a timely manner and asked if there was any specific sauce we would like other than the ones provided. This level of customer service is what keeps people revisiting establishments. More businesses need people like this gentleman his name was Azarel. On October 20, 2022, around lunch, my husband and I sat in the drive-thru line of the new Rockwall location. We were the 4th vehicle in line and sat there for approximately thirteen minutes. As each vehicle drove off, we finally made it to the speaker to place our order. We sat there for about 3 minutes before we drove to the window and observed a few employees sitting inside the restaurant. My husband was able to get one of the ladies attention and she waved him off. There were several other people attempting to walk in the restaurant but were refused service. This is the newest location for Pollo Regio. I think they have been open for about a month. I'll admit I have never thought twice about coming here because I don't eat chicken. I saw a photo from one of my yelp buddies, Hannah N and she confirmed that they serve other meat. They have been on my radar for the past year and I made the trip a few weeks ago. If you don't want to dine in, they have a drive thru. Thankfully, no one was behind me because it took me a few minutes to decide what I wanted. Torrie, patiently answered my questions and took my order. I ordered the loaded nachos without guacamole and sour cream. I also asked for the beans on the side. When I arrived at the window, Torrie greeted me with a smile and told me it would be a few minutes. Perfect, I prefer fresh food so no complaints here. After I received my food, I drove home to devour the nachos. I took a quick peek before driving off and it was hard not to grab one. :) When I arrived home, I sat down ready to taste my nachos. First off, the tortillas chips are made fresh so that's a plus. They are generous with the veggies but not the meat. I paid $12.00 for the nachos and I expected seasoned carne asada but it was bland. On my second visit, I ordered one carne asada taco which comes with cilantro and onions. The taco is seasoned well but it's small and a little pricey. The tortillas are not homemade only the tortilla chips. I would come back again if I'm in the area but I doubt if I will come back for the pricey nachos. First I want to say that I have never felt so disrespected in my life. I recently came in and ordered through the drive thru. I placed my order In Spanish and asked for a "Caldo de pollo". The guy at the drive thru said "excuse me" like if he didn't understand Spanish. I apologized and proceeded to the window. After arriving to the window I noticed that the guy was in fact Mexican. I asked him "you really don't understand Spanish" and he said " I do, I'm just more fluent in English". I asked him why he acted like he didn't understand me then. He had the nerve to look me in my eyes and tell me that " we are in America, you should be speaking English anyways". After that I did ask to speak to the manager and he told me he was the manager and he told me his name was Max a Million. I hope this reaches the right people because NO ONE should ever feel discriminated. I really feel bad for the people that can't speak English and get treated like that at this establishment. I absolutely love the piña agua fresca and the seasoning on the chips. The chorizo y papas quesadilla was decent but I probably wouldn't get it again. The menu is kind of hard to read, it is really high up, on a slant, the font is small, and it isn't lit up. I like that the food comes in to-go containers, very convenient.
