We Yelped this place and thought to ourselves, "hey I've never tried Peruvian food before, lets go!". Quite frankly, we didn't know what to expect as far as food. My husband and I walked in and automatically thought it was a Mexican restaurant. Only because the pictures on the wall-menu showed the traditional rice and pinto beans dish that Mexican restaurants serve. We were a bit dissapointed, but hey you can't go wrong on chicken with rice and beans, so we ordered. We ordered the rotisserie chicken with fries and salad (we purposely didn't order rice and beans....lol). To our surprise, the taste of the chicken was something I've never tasted before. It was delicious!!!!!!!! The amount of cumin added was more than what I'm use to, which is why it tasted so amazing! YUM! The chicken might have been a bit over salted, but the salad helped that issue out. Although the greens on the salad was nothing special (just iceberg lettuce, and slithers of carrot), the salad dressing had a perfect blend of creaminess, freshness and zest. My husband and I fought over the last bite of it. Only minor setback......the place is too small. We didn't feel comfortable eating there because it was uncomfortable to eat when you have someone's butt in your face as their waiting in line for their order. Decided to pay Pollo Mania a visit On a hot Saturday, place is clean and staff is friendly. Nice air conditioned eating area. Food: The chicken was great and tasty had a nice chat to it, it was grilled from the that day (you can tell). Chicken also had a nice salt brine that was prominent in the breast meat I got. It wasn't too salty but had the salt taste of what Costco does to their rotisserie chickens. Salsas were fresh and knocked it outta the park. They had a pico de gallo-ish creation that was fresh and had the nice balance of heat and cilantro. Also they had a red chile japonés salsa that was fiery garlicky hot and also on point. With my meal I got fries and cole slaw. Fries were home made not frozen and the cole slaw was delish. Seems like they sweeten it up with pineapple juice instead of sugar which was a great touch. I wholeheartedly recommend this place and am looking forward to coming back and trying some of their lomo or pollo saltado creations. Viva el pollo Peruano! read more
