I ordered the build your own bowl with salmon, spicy mayo, and all the toppings except for fruits, because I don't believe that fruits belong in a rice bowl. (but that's just my opinion). To be completely honest, Pokemoto isn't as good as it used to be. The service is slow in person, and the fish isn't as tasty and fresh. My past few experiences here haven't been great, but my most recent trip was surely my last. We went for lunch and were waiting in line for the people in front of us. As the employee was making their order, he was continuously coughing, sneezing, and then stepped into the back kitchen area to cough more. This is one of the healthiest places to eat in town. Whenever I get a bowl from here i feel like I'm taking good care of myself because of how high quality the ingredients are. It's also incredibly delicious. This time I got a vegan bowl with tofu and sesame ginger dressing. I enjoyed every bite. One great thing about this place is how many ways you can customize your bowl. They have a plethora of different ingredients, from proteins to sauces to veggies, the possibilities are nearly endless. Instead of a bowl, you can also make a salad or a wrap. We were traveling through the area and placed an order online online in advance of our arrival. When we got there, we found that the staff had not even noticed that the order had come in until it was not ready. They quickly built the order, but didn't pay attention to what was in it for example, when I requested crispy onions, that was not something they had picked up. Also, they don't seem to ask whether you want, the extra large portion of sauce or you might want something different and just slather tons of sauce on which I was not happy about. The ambience of the place is fast food joint although slightly above the level of a place like McDonald's. It is not a warm and inviting space particularly. tThe food, however, was pretty good even with with all of the sauce , and we enjoyed the different flavors in the Poké bowls. Let me say customer service is everything when I go to an establishment so that first start with on the sign on the door free bubble tea with a purchase of a Poké bowl. I entered the establishment on, Friday, March 15, 2024 around 325pm I think she maybe was the manager, an older employee than the other 2 employees . She welcomed me the way she should when you first arrived that was great. Once I got to the counter I said you know I haven't been here in a long time she says that she your time . But once once she started serving me, it felt like she was very monotone not as friendly as before a little rushy. What proteins then plopped it in the bowl as she when along with the topping etc. I was played right along it was very clean. There were a mom and I guess her kids with her eating and the young girl who took care made their teas.. I paid and she never said no once what type they of her eating would you like, So I asked her what's the deal promo with a free tea so I asked her what was the deal she definitely seemed annoyed and would have let me walked on right out with offering me the tea promo. She started rattling off why that the tea promos were in both sides m. I literally asked her to repeat it like three times and I do hear very well she wasn't interested in letting me know at that point I felt like she wanted to move on and didn't wanna be bothered. They were plastic bags hanging so I don't know if those bags were for Instacart only she hasn't wanted the paper you know a bag she gave me a brown bag, but I asked if she had a plastic bag which I saw and she said I know we don't have any so she was a little rough with her customer service. I won't take it personal, but her attitude needs to re-evaluated because she would not like to be treated that way in an establishment and the way she treat her customers. So that being said, I actually took it home, the food was good the white rice could be less clumpy and hard, I still enjoyed it. I love the poke bowls and her attitude would've given this place a better rating Tge overall experience would be a 1 star but the food was fresh so that's why it's a three star. , I hope the next time I go there she'll have a better attitude and all the employees to be more friendly YOU ARE THE FACE OF THE BUSINESS because WITHOUT US THERE'S NI YOU!! read more

Just for checking in using the YELP app we alsowere treated to a complimentary bowl of Dole Whip (Pineapple and Strawberry flavored swirl). I have to say that for a 'freebie' the Dole Whip portion was quite generous, and delicious! All said and done the cost was ~$25; if you consider the fact that this is a healthy alternative to a number of local quick-service competitors, it's a nice treat every once in a while. In my experience, be sure to try and eat the dish all in one sitting, especially with the rice bowls because the day-after experience just isn't the same! Delicious lunch! Stopped in for a couple of bowls to go and they did not disappoint. I got a build-your-own bowl and my fiancé got a Hawaiian bowl. I loaded mine up with white rice, tuna, salmon, spicy mayo, cucumbers, edamame, kani salad, seaweed salad, cabbage slaw and shredded nori. Came here for dinner around 7:45 pm and decided to get a regular size poke bowl with a brown rice base. With a regular size bowl you can pick two proteins, meanwhile the large size you get three picks. I got tuna and salmon in mine but there was also tofu, shrimp, and chicken (they were out of this) available. You can then get unlimited toppings and crunch which I took full advantage of and the staff was so generous when building my bowl! It may be because they were closing soon (at 9 pm), and they were already out of some toppings, like both types of seaweed. Regardless, I got SO much food that I had to ask for a SECOND bowl just so that I could mix everything together. Technically, I count that as a two for one deal. Also, the best part is that my bowl was free! You have to text "hamden" to a particular number or scan a QR code and you get a regular bowl for free. Have been here a few times now and it is consistently very good. For about $10 you get a very nice portion of rice or salad topped with plenty of fresh fish and typical poke bowl accompaniments! For a few dollars more you can get an even larger bowl. Both are well worth the price. They also offer Dole Whip, a frozen fruit ice. I'm told it's not sold in too many places so a nice treat to have locally. They have 2 flavors, one supposed to be pineapple at all time, but on this visit they were trying two other flavors. What?? Finally, I found amazing Poke in CT! Pokémoto is doing poke right. Fresh fish, huge variety of toppings, and decent portions. It has been a struggle to find a poke spot that's comparable to the poke joints in Cali. Even NY is struggling BUT Pokémoto has come the closest. I really enjoyed their simple selection of fish proteins: tuna or salmon that isn't muddled with any flavoring but instead left for you to freely season as you please. I ordered the "build your own poke" and went for the large bowl (3 scoops protein vs. 2 scoops in the regular). They are generous with their portions here and after you choose your protein you get to choose between 9 different sauces , 9 mix ins, and an amalgam if toppings (all are free of charge except avocado and black tobiko), and lastly don't forget to add your crunch ! Oh man, I'm sad to say Pokemoto has fallen off big time. I guess it's partly due to the pandemic. But there has to have been some management change. There is no way the original owner would let it look this way. Floors are destroyed. Lighting is dim. There was no music on when I walked in. Wow. Super, super impressed with this place. The food is so fresh, and the quality top notch. I had the rice bowl with chicken and the chojang sauce - phenomenal! Perfect level of spicy and not too salty. The sushi rice actually tastes like sushi rice, and has the tang from the rice wine vinegar! Overall, my husband and I really loved our meal. The price is a little expensive, but totally worth it. Portion is quite large too. Highly recommend this place. Update: THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Bring your friends. Bring your mom. Bring your grandma. Fast, healthy, delicious, and did I mention HEALTHY??? This being only 5 minutes from my house has been dangerous for my bank account. This is how you win - Create your own bowl, fill it with tuna and salmon and lots of toppings, and toss it all in a combo of the Pokémoto sauce and garlic chili oil. I've tried almost every sauce and they're all awesome, but this combo is my favorite! Don't forget the seaweed salad, masago, and plenty of crunch. These are the ingredients that'll put it all over the top. The first time I came, my boyfriend wasn't in the mood for raw fish but I convinced him to get a burrito anyway, and he was obsessed. Now he goes almost every week. It's that good. Only word of advice I have is I probably wouldn't pay the extra for the avocado. The meal itself is already pretty pricey and there are so many other awesome ingredients you could add, so you don't really need it. Also, I felt like I got a pretty small scoop for its price. This place is AMAZING. Its basically like Chipotle but with Hawaiian/Japanese sushi ingredients. I came in on a Saturday and it was quite busy, but everyone on the staff was very nice, helpful, and attentive. I got the miso salmon bowl but I ended up adding a bunch of extra stuff on it (like masago and seaweed salad) and it was absolutely delicious. I love the creamy miso sauce! I love that they have sesame oil too--I definitely recommend putting a whole bunch in your bowl. I got a regular size bowl (they also have a larger one), and the portion was extremely generous. I kind of figured they would be skimpy with the fish, but I was pleasantly surprised and had a perfect amount of fish to eat with the other ingredients. The staff even gave us a complimentary sample of the dole whip soft serve, one strawberry and one pineapple. What a great way to end the meal! Usually I don't like checking out places that are recently opened simply because they usually have to take some time to work out the Kinks of running a brand new business. I guess the concept is building your own poke Bowl and you have an absolute delight of toppings and accoutrements to go along with your choice of protein. I went with a salmon and shrimp over a bed of rice and then added the veggies and the crunchy bits to top it off. To be quite honest I don't know how you can eat a large bowl, everything was really fresh crispy and I probably would have walked out with something to go as well. So so happy the original owners are back! And they brought Loose Leaf Boba which is amazing. Definitely love the drinks they have there it definitely compliments the poke bowls. I got the banana foster with double boba and I have to say it was literally the best boba drink I've ever had. It literally made my eyes pop how good it was. That with my usual go to tuna poke bowl with spicy mayo, chojang, and chili garlic oil. Yummy in my tummy. I'm glad the ordinal owners came back cause they are so nice and are a beautiful family.
