I've ordered from here a lot as I live really close by. I've done both takeout and delivery. The food here is fine. They don't have as many add-on options as the other place nearby. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is that, without fail, EVERY SINGLE time I order delivery, they mess up my order. It's like they glance at my order and only add that basics. I'm missing a few items every single time. I'd be fine picking up on my way home but I doubt I'll get delivery from here again. I'll just order from the other poke location down the street. Very average or nearly below average poke spot here. Was not impressed with what I got. I got the medium poke with a base of rice, and proteins of salmon, ahi tuna, and scallops. Along with the poke came other toppings. I understand that it is up to me to balance the bowl to my liking. Therefore, the bowl should only be things I like. When I made my poke it was only things I like. Though, the issue is the individual ingredients themselves, which made it not tasty. The flavor of the salmon sashimi was good. It actually had a nice taste and good texture. Though, the ahi tuna and scallops are a different issue. Both had a slightly borderline rancid taste to them. I've had scallops and tuna nearly a million times, so it was easy to notice an odd taste to these. The texture of the tuna was very stringy. The scallop had a good texture but again had a weird taste. The rice was cooked well. All the toppings tasted pretty well. Most of the toppings had a nice taste to them. Mixing the ingredients really made for a good bite. The sauces I'm not a fan of the. I ordered three sauces, though the poke still seemed dry. The sauces were mild in taste and did not add any evident flavor to the poke as a whole. The quality of the ingredients is mediocre. The salmon tasted good, and I have no complaints about the quality. Most of the other toppings were good and had no issue with their quality of them. Again, the issue comes with the scallop and the tuna. I the quality of these two I question. Again, they both had a weird flavor, and the tuna had a weird texture. The presentation is alright. I like how they did separate the toppings in a neat way. Although the presentation seems messy, opening the container and looking at the food, seemed appetizing. The portion to price is semi-fair. They do give a good amount of protein. Though, they mostly stack it up with rice. I do find this place to be more expensive than the average poke places I've had. I'd expected it to taste better, due to its higher price, but I was not satisfied. A big issue with the portioning for me was how they cut the seafood. The scallop was just fine. I believe their intent with the salmon and tuna was to cube them up. Though, what really irritated me was how the pieces were not proportionate at all. At times you would have an average cubed-sized salmon or tuna, then in other bites, you would have a large or small cube. I inspected the pieces and they were a mess. Again, some were extremely big and needed to be cut more. Other pieces were small. Finally, the other pieces were just different shapes. For example, half of the pieces were just lines or slivers of tuna or salmon. I'm not sure if they cut their fish themselves, but they really need to work on them being equal slices. Another thing to add is how some of them were not cut all the way through. Therefore, some salmon or tuna cubes were linked together. It just seems unprofessional. They gotta work on cutting their fish. The staff was pretty nice. The guy who helped me at the counter honestly seemed out of it, but he was pretty friendly. He just seemed spaced out. They moved pretty quickly with the order. An issue I have with how customers order is it seems messy. In my opinion, I think they should just pass the bowls down the line instead of having one staff take care of one customer. It was getting tangled between both the staff and the customer. At times I and the customer next to me would say at the same time what to put on our bowls and it would be hard to hear. It seemed like you had to get into a shouting match in order to tell them the toppings you want. It just seemed messy and chaotic. Opposed to chains where one employee is on one half of the line and another employee on the other, and they just pass the bowl down. The ambiance was pretty bland. Nothing eye-popping to the eye. The place is clean, but it seems messy. Whenever I see places using paper towels or printer paper with handwriting as a sign, it just seems messy to me. Things to just seemed out of place in the store. The parking is alright. They have a parking lot but it's pretty tight. Poke rainbow has got to work on some things. read more

The worst poke bowl I've had. I placed my order before they closed on DoorDash & they completely messed it up. No sauces at ALL, even tho I added 3. Bowl DRY. Missing sides, seems like they ran out of seaweed salad & put double crabmeat. They didn't put half of the toppings I asked for & put so much ginger & onion to make it look full, I threw more than half of the large bowl I purchased. I never make negative reviews, but this was the worst $25 I've ever spent. Not bad Poke for Van Nuys area. I was satisfied to see the variety of options and sizes while ordering through DoorDash. They were able to prepare and deliver my order on time and with some accuracy. The only thing I will say is that I did not enjoy eating my poke with a spoon as they forgot to include the requested chopsticks/utensils. Some friendly suggestions I would make to poke rainbow is to have fluffier rice because the one in my bowl was pretty mushy and stiff and not the type of rice I would want to accompany my poke. Hopefully it was just a bad day for their rice. Another thing was the color of the spicy tuna, it was just too red to feel good about eating as if some dyes were added. I've been coming here around once a week since the place opened in 2016. I got to know some of the staff over the years who have been lovely, and I found the value for money quite good However, I can't ignore the filth in the place anymore. I showed up yesterday at 11:30am which is presumably quite soon after opening time- all the sauces were dirty, the counter and splash back were flecked with food, the keypad guests have to use for transactions was dirty and the chip reader has been broken for about 3 months with the card strip reader heading the same way. The bathroom has black fingerprints everywhere, there's mop splashes 12" off the ground around the entire perimeter and the ancient food stains on staffs aprons and hats are astonishing. I give this review after speaking to the shift supervisor who didn't seem to want to engage in the conversation. Having worked in many similar types of establishments, I understand the pressure owners put on you to be off the clock 30 minutes after close and that getting everything done in time can be a challenge, but to fall into this state of filth reflects a long standing attitude of disinterest from managers and owners alike. I'm sad to have to write this place off my list, it was a much anticipated treat each week and the evening staff have been lovely to me. Also, I see that this place has had 5 health code violations including one for cleanliness but still has an A rating... this throws the whole food health rating system into question. read more

I honestly hate to write bad reviews, and frankly, the food here was okay-ish. They didn't skimp on the fish and the quality wasn't horrible. What struck me was how disgustingly dirty the work surfaces were (as well as the rest of the restaurant). Little bits of food from previous orders could be seen across every crevice and surface of the counter (I was the only customer in the store and the employees were all sitting idle, so it's not like they were super busy). The bowls they use to mix the fish up had ingredients from prior orders in them. Sorry, but putting a small piece of parchment paper over the old stuck-on veggies doesn't suddenly make it sanitary. Clean your damn equipment and boards! You're dealing with raw ingredients here. I will be having a chat with the health department. Service was...fine, but I did feel like I was inconveniencing the person at the front. When she found out that I wasn't there for a pickup she slowly got up from her chair with an annoyed huff. Not the best first impression. As I said, the food was okay. Definitely not the best poke I've had, but given the disgusting level of hygiene and upkeep, I won't be returning. Pokè To Die For! This place was referred to me by a friend and I've always been skeptical of going to new Pokè place because of the fish quality, but they knock it out of the park! Fish quality is fresh, the have many sides options and sauces. The staff is sweet and they're very friendly but the way you can set up your bowl is very free, it's not restricting by sides it's by how much food you actually want. I visited a friend who recently moved to the area and we decided to try this poke spot. The parking lot still isn't great, but that's partially because no one in the valley knows how to park apparently. We came close to closing and they were really busy. We actually felt bad being there. They were backed up on a few online orders and coupled with the 4 parties (including us) at the door, they managed all of us really well. My boyfriend and I have had poke before so we knew how it worked and got what we want relatively quickly. My friend had a handful of questions and despite how busy they were, the workers were still super nice and answering everything. The wait was a bit long because of amount of people there, but the workers were actually so sweet that I didn't mind it (1 girl and 2 guys, forgot their names - sorry!). The poke was pretty standard though, nothing crazy but nothing bad too. I'd be back if we were in the area, simple as that. read more

My first ever experience trying a Poke dish happened in this very place. It happened literally last Friday, which was 4 days ago. And as many of us know, that moment of feeling lost when you are asked what you would like to choose for your dish, when you are unaware and totally unfamiliar with what goes in it, what it tastes like and basically what it is. Well that happened to me, but luckily I got helped by the girl who was putting my dish together, and believe it or not, but it came out delicious, and I learned something new. So as of now, I ate there 3 times already and I always loved it. Definitely a great place to go to try Poke, and if you love sushi like I do, you are gonna love Poke Rainbow. Just stopped in here for the first time and overall i am very impressed. The fish is very fresh, the sauces are great, and the employees are very friendly. I also love that they have the option of adding the sweet egg for 75 cents. I do have two things however that prevent me from giving a second star. One, they do not have mango, only pineapple. The pineapple is nice but I'm craving the mango which i have had at every other poke place i have been to. Second, the ratio of rice to fish is way off, way too much rice for the amount of fish. For the price, the other places i have been to give more fish. They need to make the scoops bigger. I got the large which has 4 proteins and the amount of fish i got feels like what i would get with the small at the other places i go to. For the price they need to provide more fish. But as far as the quality of the ingredients and fish go they are very fresh and tasty. They just opened a month ago so i trust that they will make the necessary adjustments. This place is ridiculous. We heard that today was the last day for 25% off any poke bowl so my fiance and I headed over after work. Just from the looks of it there was a block of chopped fish so I assumed that it was frozen. I asked the lady if it was frozen since she having a hard time scooping it. She said "no, not at all." So, I thought okay maybe it's just compressed and not frozen like she said. (I know they have to flash freeze it to kill the bacteria but serving it rock solid hard is not OKAY and is disgusting) When I got to the car I told my fiance to hold on so I could just check because I'm not gonna be eating frozen fish. The first piece I grabbed was solid hard. There's no way I'm taking this home. I walked back inside to tell them and the lady was seriously arguing with me that "its not FROZEN" and that "its suppose to be frozen like that to kill bacteria." Im like furious because she standing there having a hard time scooping the tuna as she explained to me that its suppose to be like that. I told her you are not suppose to be serving us frozen fish and lie about it that its not. The guy next to her said "you are right it is frozen and would you like your money back or another kind of fish?" This place is near my job and convenient for lunch breaks. 1. parking sucks 2. customer service is OK. 3. OVERPRICED menu. $20 for one person at least! Overall, they have a wide selection on raw fish, sauces and sides. I just don't understand why there so expensive?! Seriously! You can go to an all you can eat sushi for $10 more, and eat whatever you want. For example If you want more of one side they charge .75 cents. So, it all adds up! Avocado is an additional $1.50.
