I've been to 4 or 5 poke places now around OC and they all really seem to be similar. The only difference I've noticed is amount of sides and whether they're extra or not, and whether the place has pre-made bowl options or not. Pre-made meaning a kind of bowl they design for you. Ate here for dinner and enjoyed it. It's fun they have a tempura topping option. Also apparently they have crushed hot cheetos for the addicts out there I got white rice with albacore, salmon and spicy tuna. Asked for the sauce they recommended- medium house. Good kick of spice. The fish is always fresh. Good portion sizes, fresh toppings. Every meal I have had here has been consistent and delicious. Plus first scoop of avocado is free I drive 25 minutes to come here instead of settling on some lackluster, not so fresh poké thats in my city. read more

Poke Dot is the closest spot to where I work. So when I'm craving for Poke, this place is pretty much my best option. The concept is the same as almost all Poke restaurants: choose your base, your add-ons, your proteins (3 choices for regular, 5 for large), your sauces, and your toppings. It's a plus that they don't charge for avocado (unless there's a shortage!). Also, the amount of fish you get is fairly decent. I have to agree with some yelpers though--the house sauce is a little bland. You definitely need to play around with the sauces they offer to see what floats your boat (I'm prefer the medium house sauce and spicy mayo). The topping selection is decent (bonus for the flaming hot cheeto dust!) The 3 stars is mostly due to the customer service. To avoid long lines during lunch, I tend to come here on or before 11AM. I rarely see anyone smiling at me, which makes for a sometimes awkward interaction. At times, I honestly feel like I'm being such a bother (I even caught myself apologizing to the worker a few times during my last visit because he looked so irritated when he forgot I asked for no wasabi). Overall, it's a good place to grab something quickly (if you get there at the right time). Just be patient with the people working there...and I guess don't expect to feel welcome. read more

Came here with some friends and the bf, and man, I regretted having some light snacks at happy hour beforehand. I only got the regular which came with 3 protein options, and I was so stuffed. The fish tasted pretty fresh, the avocado was free, and they had a ton of different options for toppings, including hot cheetos!. My only complaint (and why this place doesn't get 5 stars from me) is that the person who was putting on my toppings seemed to skimp out a LOT. When another person came to do it, that person was piling on the toppings for the people behind me, so I felt a bit jipped :( Ah well...hopefully the next time we come, it'll be a bit better. read more

Good poke here. I've been here a few times and they serve fresh tasting fish. The service is quick although it's difficult to hear the staff as the glass walls in front of the food are a bit on the high side. When I'm in the area I will be back for more. read more

This is my all time favorite poke place. As a Poke bowl fanatic, I think their portion and freshness of the protein are exceptional. Their services have always been great, and their toppings are everything you'd find in a poke restaurant. I am definitely considered as a regular here. Here's a tip, get the Volcano sauce. The volcano sauce is not that spicy, and it goes really well with the protein. On the other hand, it also adds a little kick to your poke bowl. If you're looking for something spicy, get the house sauce + medium spicy + volcano, it will do the trick. Anyway, I would recommend anyone to come here if they are craving poke bowls! read more

I really like the food but on a couple occasions I noticed that the same lady behind the counter was scooping food at the first and second station and then processing payments at the cashier station... WITHOUT CHANGING HER GLOVES. My card was greasy when I got it back and she went right back to the first station to start grabbing food for the next person.... ew. I come to poke dot a lot because it's the closest poke spot by my house. I score it a solid B+. Every time I go the food is consistently good and service is always courteous and quick! Their house sauces aren't quite as flavorful as some other spots but it does taste very clean which I love! Great for a post workout protein kick! This has been my #1 go-to spot to eat out for about a year or so now, ever since I first came here. I don't think I can ever get tired of this place! I love that you can build your own bowls, there's so much variety and the ingredients are always fresh. The craziest line for poke I've ever seen! Came here during my lunch hour and the line was out the door with about 50 people in front of me. It took me about 15 minutes to get through the line, so wasn't too bad. I would avoid lunch time at all costs. Parking was also very crowded. The food was good, they give generous portions and price is about average. They do not charge extra for avocado. One improvement I would suggest is for them to offer yellowtail. Most other poke places offer it and this one does not. However, they do have seasonal fish (today was Tilapia). I'll try other less crowded places before I try here again. read more

Love love love coming here. Even when the line is out the door, it moves quickly. Service and staff and nice and helpful if you've never done this before. I love that they don't charge extra for crab and avocado like some places. If you want an extra scoop they do charge. The fish options are wonderful, not any vegetarian options, but it's poke and I'm not a vegetarian so I don't care. The sauces are all great, if you are unsure, they will let you try it. My kid loves this place after gymnastics practice ends at 8pm on Friday. We came to get her usual medium with tuna salmon cucumbers crab meat ponzu sauce. Sadly seeing three staff behind the counter and being used to the restaurant closing at 8:30 we were quite surprised when she tried to open door to see locked and thought other door would be open but to no avail. Then giving up though on poke went to cluck cluck chicken but they notified us on door closed at 8pm. Way to not stick to hours... frustrating. read more

This might be my favorite poke place, anywhere. It has a wide variety of great toppings and proteins, and more importantly, you get so much food for a good price. The regular size bowl is about $9, but it's huge and you get 3 different proteins. Also, edamame is a topping and not a protein, which is always a plus. I came here on a weekday for dinner around 5:30, and there was no wait, which was awesome. The employees were polite and answered the questions I had about different toppings and sauces, and they gave some recommendations. Like I mentioned before, they gave me a ton of food, and it all tasted fresh and delicious. If you're into sushi burritos and whatnot, there are probably better places for that. But I like the bowls (I think they're more food anyway), so this is an awesome spot and I'll definitely be back. read more

She just stared at me until i began ordering. No smile or interaction at all. Love poke! It's always fresh. Co workers and I hit this spot at least once a week. Lines are always long during weekday lunch hour so I recommend coming in after 1:30 or so to avoid the long line. Came in twice! Lines are pretty long, but moves along at a decent speed. They have lots of different toppings and their scoop of avocado is a nice generous portion. Spam musubi is ok. Nothing special. Fish is fresh. I like spicy mayo sauce and they have it. Just wish their scoops of salmon were as big as the scallop ones! I love this place. Always fresh, delicious poke. Lots of different items to add to your dish. A little confusing the first time you visit, but employees are always helpful. I got the large bowl with FIVE proteins over mixed greens. I got scallops, tuna, 2 spicy tuna, and salmon. I also got the green tea cheesecake. Together the bill was around $14. Don't be fooled when you see the front door, oh no, walk around towards the back and FACE THE LONG LINE. The line moves kind of quickly, but we've waited up to 20mins before. It's just like all your other poke places --- assembly line poke. - small (3 scoops) or large (5 scoops) bowl - Brown rice, white rice, salad, or a combo. - Salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, scallop, shrimp, and the *Special* which is currently yellowtail. - several different sauce options including a special one each month -- right now is wasabi honey? I'm not a fan of wasabi, so I haven't tried it --- I'm good with the house (spicy) paired with volcano sauce on the side. - all your standard sides and toppings: cucumber, crab meat, avocado, masago, onions, seaweed flakes, sesame seeds, Over all, another solid poke place. Don't know if I'd completely go out of my way for it, but it's fresh, tasty, and on par with other poke bowl prices. YAY! read more
