disappointed with the flavor. though the guy behind the counter pumped signature sauce into the fish and i requested some spicy mayo as well, the sauce turned extremely runny and flavorless. the white rice was tough and hard. don't even get me started with the line... poke dot looks well-staffed behind the counter but the line goes so slow... not sure why, but if you're there during peak hours, good luck. i have yet to find a poke place that offers consistency and quality. my search continues. read more

Poke dot is the perfect lunch, it won't leave you feeling sluggish or heavy. The regular size gets you three scoops of fish, you can choose the same or different types-- tuna, spicy tuna, salmons, octopus, yellowtail, or scallop! I love that they have yellowtail. All the other mix-ins are included in the price. No extra charges! Don't come if you have a short lunch break though because you'll more than likely spend it waiting in line. read more

Another poke place opened in town - so of course we had to give it a try! Both times I came during lunch time on a Saturday and the line wasn't bad at all. The employees are really on top of it and the ordering process is really smooth and makes the line move quickly. Portions were really generous compared to some other poke places in OC and service was friendly. They do offer some toppings that I haven't seen at any other poke places: jalapeños, tempura crumbs, and cilantro (yum!). I never thought to add cilantro to a poke bowl, but it was delicious. I was craving seaweed salad and a poke bowl and major kudos to Poke Dot for having this because I couldn't find any other poke places (looking at their online menu) in the area that had a side of seaweed salad (would be cool if they could put it in the bowl). The taste was amazing, a little spicy but bearable. I got salmon and shrimp, both tasted very fresh! I love that they don't charge extra for avocado or crab meat! My only complaint would be that the brown rice did seem a bit hard compared to what I like but I still ate it. Will definitely be back! read more

This place is a gem in Irvine. Finally a poke bowl joint that is generous with portions all at a fair price. Great location- right in the middle of all the commercial buildings and airport. Service was great-employees were cheerful and made time to ask how my day was even though I was one of the last customers before closing time. The way they scooped each item was satisfying to the eye, they were more generous with their fish and crab portions here than pokinometry and other places I've been. So fresh! My boyfriend and I did some last minute Christmas shopping at South Coast and were craving poke after. We searched for a poke and this was the closest location that we haven't tried. The concept is similar to most other poke places, who doesn't love being able to customize their own food? The service is very prompt and friendly and the interior seems very clean and organized. There are a few seating areas but if you go as a large group, I suppose when it is busy, there are not many tables to accommodate inside. I ordered half brown rice and half salad. I love white rice but opted for brown, which was harder than expected but still satisfying. My boyfriend got mild sauce and I got spicy mayo and we both loved our choices. I also got volcano sauce on the side and I love spice foods but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. It tasted like spicy soy sauce but much saltier, so I am glad that I chose to have it on the side. Also, I recommend adding the tempura to your toppings. One of my favorite treat meals! It's basically the poke bowl version of Chipotle. Not too much variety, but enough options that allow you to customize what you want. The regular sized bowl is enough for me, especially if I get half rice and half salad. If I was just getting salad, I might get a large. A regular is 3 scoops of protein and a large is 5, not to mention all the other toppings and add ins you get. I generally get onion and cucumber, with avocado and crab scoops. I love the salmon poke, but all of the options are good! Finished with some toppings (masago, tempura, sesame seeds, green onions, jalapeños) and there you have it! Relatively healthy and filling. This place is really good because of all the options they have! No extra for avocado too which is a plus. They give you generous portions and the line goes by really fast, so don't be fooled when it's wrapped around inside! I told myself that I wouldn't eat at another Poke restaurant because I always go to Poke Island. I went during lunch and the line was wayyyyyy out the door, but I figured, it shouldn't take too long and it didn't. They have a great selection of sauces, seafood, etc. to choose from. In addition, it's really inexpensive especially for the amount that you get. Their system works fantastic, and you are in and out of there within minutes. I would definitely recommend coming here, but just note...the parking lot can be a mess and there are those few that are angry drivers, but do not fear the long line here, it goes by quickly. read more

The fact that I work just minutes from Poke Dot means that I have to try and refrain from coming here all the time. I really enjoy their Poke bowls and it's nice that there is a fresh, fast, and reasonably priced place to eat so close to my work. Even though the lines can be long the staff gets the line moving as quickly as possible so I never mind waiting. My only wish is that their sauces had more flavor to them. read more

I had a tuna and salmon bowl with brown rice. Everything in the bowl was fresh and tasted great, from the fish to all of the toppings that are available. Even the little scoop of crab was great. Holy "chipotle meets poke"!!! Met a friend for lunch and was INSTANTLY in love! It's a "build you own poke" bowl/salad and it is delicious! A regular size bowl is plenty! If I was going with my husband I might splurge to split a large but the portions are great and I will certainly be making this a regular spot on my office lunch rotation!! This place is good. Just a warning, come here at 12pm and expect to wait at least 10-15 minutes, this place gets packed. The line stretches outside onto the street at times. For $8+ a regular bowl will fill you up, I am a pretty husky guy and am already full with a regular bowl. The fish is plenty, 3 scoops for a regular and 5 scoops for a large. I usually get Tuna, Albacore, and Scallops. Delicious! This is a great place to get lunch for cheap and a quick tip, come around 1pm for a shorter line. read more

This place is overrated. I've tried a lot of great poke places, but this one did not meet my usual standards. I ordered a salad bowl with ponzu and medium house sauce. When I got my bowl, my salad was swimming in a puddle of sauce. There was about a half inch of liquid sitting on the bottom of the bowl and everything was drenched. It was so gross. Also, I got edamame, masago, and furikake but when they put it on, I literally got 6 edamame seeds, 1/4 teaspoon of masago, and a few flakes of furikake. It was ridiculous. I will not be returning and I highly recommend trying other poke places in Orange County instead. read more
