But I can honeslty appreciate everything when I look back on it now. I had tremendous oppurtunities and I was exposed to things I probably would have never known about. A few of those oppurtunies were backpacking, dancing, diversity conferences, community service, and wonderful college counselors. There's also certain traditions that make Chadwick special such as the Tree Awards, they physically ring a bell in between classes, eating lunch on the lawn, and the graduation. There is also the rigorous academic excellence that is demanded from every student. This can be a challenge if you haven't grown up in an environment where your suppose to study 45mins per class every night. Now that i'm in college i'm glad I have those time management skills. The teachers are definitely amazing too and they have very high expectations of their students also. So all in all I think Chadwick is definitely a school you should consider sending your child too. The Alumni network is very active and give lots of money because most people who graduate are successful.

They have just hired their sixth Head of School in nine years. That should tell you all you know about where the problem lies. I cannot say enough of this amazing school! I have a unique perspective as I am a parent here as…read morewell as a teacher of 18 years (at a public school). When I was given a tour four years ago, I knew what questions to ask regarding the curriculum and was impressed by the rigor, the class sizes, and the feel of community. So I decided to make the investment and move my son from a nearby public school to Rolling Hills Country Day School. One of the reasons was my son was diagnosed with moderate ADD and I knew he needed more personal attention and would thrive in a smaller school setting. It was the best decision! I do admit it took him a few months to get acclimated due to the academic rigor because the standards were different at his previous school. However, I loved it so much that a year later, I transferred my daughter there and now my third child attends RHCDS! I wish my kids could personally write a review. They absolutely love their school. They are eager to get to school early to play on the field before class! This school offers them a place where they feel safe and genuinly cared for. They not only have the academic rigor that in today's society is imperative, but they also prioritize in teaching values. Be a kind human is their motto and they definitely instill this on a daily basis. Learning and living by these values is what a child needs to thrive and be happy so they can focus in school. My son is now in middle school (upper school) and I know he will no doubt be prepared for any top rated high school. They focus on giving back to the community, character/values, teach independence, all the while really preparing these kids for high school. This school truly offers a fine balance. They have specialized teachers for various subjects, including technology. They also focus on presentation skills and even my little 7 year old has presented in front of the lower school! This is such an important communication skill that is disregarded in many elementary schools. I have also made amazing friends at RHCDS and I truly feel I am part of a family, or small community, even though I am a working mom and am not able to be there as much as I would like. I know my kids are cared for, safe, happy, challenged academically, and taught the same values that I teach at home. RHCDS is truly one of a kind and am so grateful to be a part of it.

We have been treated like family over the years - our children feel safe and known by their teachers and any questions or requests to the administration or teachers have been promptly and thoughtfully addressed. Our oldest child and middle school graduate, who now attends public high school, feels like she was well prepared academically and personally by teachers who challenged her to think critically and by expectations to be kind and respectful. There is obviously no perfect school and we are grateful to have found a school that aligns with our values!

We are truly blessed to have found such a safe, loving environment for our children. The campus is beautiful and the equipment is new. Kids can really be just kids. They run around and play. We love watching our kids actually moving their bodies and working out. They plead to go to afterschool camp every day. The class sizes are amazing. There are assistant teachers in each classroom. If a student needs more assistance they can easily get it, instead of struggling alone. Dr. Chun is an amazing Principal and runs the school like a well oiled machine. The character values they instill Caring Attitude Respect Gratitude Perseverance Self Control are amazing. I wish they had a high school too.

This school is probably best for people who have artistic children (think of theater or drama kids)…read moreor kids who have special needs (developmental impediments which require them to need an aide physically with them or need smaller group sizes). This school does not focus on academic rigor. There is no homework or grades until 4th grade. The amount of regression in education we witnessed was sad, anger inducing, and extremely upsetting. We wasted a year of tuition and our child's time and would NEVER recommend this school for children who are not special needs or have other socialization issues.

This is a review for the Drama Department at PVHS…read more Several weeks ago I mentioned to a friend that I wished 'Avenue Q' went on tour so I could see the much talked about production. A few days later I was driving over the hill to RPV to surf when I observed a sign indicating that the Palos Verdes High School Drama Department was doing a production of 'Avenue Q' I knew I was going. I asked a friend if they were free to attend, they were and the details were left up to me. If you are unfamiliar with Palos Verdes it is the land of Millionaires & Billionaires with more than a handful of connections to Hollywood. I figured seeing any production put on by this Drama Department might be something special with the talent, props & set design. I went onto the Drama Department link attached to Palos Verdes High School web site and found it very easy to navigate. I selected and paid for 2 tickets and was even given the option to 'upgrade' for $5 more to premium seating which I did. In case you were wondering premium seating is the first 3 row, first come, first serve seating, no assigned seats. After my transaction I was able to print the receipt page and use as our ticket. I even received a confirmation email, great trusted customer service. The day arrived and the show started at 7:00pm. When we arrived an organized line was working, ticket takers had answers to questions and ushers ensured you found your seats without any problem. I thought my friend and I might be stopped but we were able to walk in and sit down at our seats with the Starbucks we just purchased. As for the theater, the show, the props, the talent & the production itself, it was simply stunning. I was expecting to see a watered down version of 'Avenue Q' but we watched a 100% uncensored version. The puppets used for the production were spot on to the one's used on Broadway in New York. This drama section was honestly like seeing the actual production on Broadway, I was blown away. I originally walked in planning to see the original in New York on my next visit but now feel completely satisfied and feel as if I watched the show that is winning Tony awards. My mother once told me to never pass up on a High School production of anything and that is some good advice. Now that I have seen behind the curtain there is no question I will be on the lookout for more productions put on by this Drama Department. Amazing evening for $20 & free parking, you simply cannot beat that while supporting a great cause!!!

I was part of the cross country team and unfortunately saw firsthand how strong favoritism…read moreinfluenced team decisions and recognition. Many athletes worked hard but were overlooked unless they were one of the coach's clear favorites. Even basic encouragement, like a simple "good job" was not given to everyone. Instead, praise was reserved for a select few, leaving others feeling unvalued despite their efforts. When I respectfully addressed this even as an alum, I was met with a hostile response and completely shut out. I had hoped for reflection and respect, but instead received defensiveness and dismissal. This is not the example of leadership or character that a youth program should be built upon. A coach who discourages hard-working athletes, fails to recognize everyone equally, and responds to concerns with hostility should not be in a position of guiding young people. Leadership should inspire, not divide. At one meet, after a mile time trial where I struggled badly and was visibly upset, I heard him say, "I am so proud of you guys." I asked, "Are you sure about that?" because it felt insincere given the lack of encouragement many of us experienced. In a race in Hawaii, while I was in tears and trying to reach my parents, I was told, "I don't care, cheer on your teammates please." That moment made it clear how little empathy and support was being offered to athletes who were not among his favorites. Please see attached for records
