The purpose of this purchase was to renovate the structure for use as a medium security correctional center. The Welch facility was constructed in 1976. Between 1990 and 1996 the Federal Court System operated the Welch facility, upgrading it to federal standards. The Stevens Facility was also built in compliance with Federal and State standards. The Welch Facility has a maximum capacity of 108 inmates, while the Stevens facility has a maximum capacity of 322. McDowell County has been housing Division of Corrections overflow since 1999. Approximately 177 employees work between the two facilities. As derived from information in achieving Grant funds for the Stevens Center, it was estimated that $38,000,000.00 annually would be infused into the local economy. The first inmates arrived at the Stevens facility on March 2, 2006, by May of 2006 all 322 beds were filled.

My wife's friend works for a branch of Veterans Services and told us that I could stop in when we went to visit some family. When I went in I was seen right away. No problems with drawing up the new paperwork and going through my medical records again. Since I was in town a week I left my records at the office so they could be gone through more thoroughly. I was called back in a couple of days later to review the paperwork and sign. About two weeks later when I logged into my eBenifits portal on the VA website my claim was reflected. Bottom line, if you are a veteran that needs assistance, I highly recommend stopping in. They were courteous, efficient and educated on the process.

First time visiting the City of Bristol Tennessee and I even checked out the Virginia side as well…read more There's way more things to do on the tennessee side than virginia but I will say that the library was one of the best parts on the Virginia side. As a precaution if you were visiting any of the stores most of them are apparently closed on Mondays which is a shocker to me. Many of the parking spaces have a 2-hour window. Plenty of good restaurants and shop to check out many antique shops too. This area features plenty of cool events to check out as well. Though I wasn't completely amazed, I felt that the City of Bristol was a nice casual visit.
