Clear Lake has it good. There is a ton to do around this lake. I had a good experience with the tiki bar. In the morning we took a short walk out to check it out. Sitting right on the water with the dock is the bar. The restaurant is the building behind it. The tables that are scattered between here and there are where you can sit and order. We had a quick drink right when the bar opened. We came back later to get bags for a game of corn hole. We took full advantage of the bar and had a really good time. The wait staff was busy with the really crowded outside seating. The weather was perfect and everyone was having a good time.

PM Park is right next to the Clear Lake Marina, providing easy access to food and drinks for the many boaters of Iowa. They have an indoor restaurant in an antique, original clear lake home with historic photos and memorabilia next to the outdoor tiki bar, spotted with picnic tables and string lights. Beyond the utter cuteness of the establishment, there's corn hole to play, the parrot to say hello to, and live music to listen to at certain times in the week. The beach is close by for kids to play at while you sip a beer and look out at the sunset, just past the miniature lighthouse. Truly the get-together spot in the area.

PM Park/the tiki bar is a continual diasppointment. Pros: local bands, great view, location, homegrown tomatoes, onion rings are very tasty Cons: rude rude rude ownership and service. We complimented the owner on an exceptional server we had previously (who was the FIRST even acceptable at this establishment, I might add) and she said she 'wouldn't go that far'. Not only did we feel personally insulted, but who says that about their own staff?! My food was cold and stale when brought out. It generally takes quite some time to get food, but it came out very quickly during this visit. I suspect my food had been prepared earlier and was sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. Their beverages were average, at best. Frozen/blended drinks usually come out melted with a few ice shavings floating at the top. And then...there's this sign. I think this speaks for itself.

    Date night at Clear Lake.

Great drinks, good and staff on a beautiful lake side setting. The outdoor bar is fun and the lake breeze is perfection.

Excellent fsh sandwich with a light, crispy crust. Best in Iowa! And you can't beat the lake views!

Fun place for all meals. Family friendly except that they do not have a kids menu for breakfast which seems out of character.

Friendly service, lovely view. Full bar, decent food, although I didn't care for the coleslaw.

The other 3 are the Estherville Meteorite, the highest point in Iowa (Hawkeye Point at 1670 feet), and the Field of Dreams baseball diamond. 75 years after that fateful plane crash, folks are still coming to the informal shrine to "Where the Music Died". They come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They turn into the small parking lot, not knowing for sure why they're doing it. We arrived as innocent as children, longing for the past. People will come, Ray. OK, that's from Field of Dreams, but it fits. After a brisk walk of about 1/2 mile starting from the big glasses, what I found was a stainless steel guitar and a set of three stainless steel records marking the exact spot where the plane carrying Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, & JP ''The Big Bopper'' Richardson came to rest following their final concert at the Surf Ballroom in nearby Clear Lake. A second monument was erected on the 50th anniversary of the tragedy honoring their pilot, Roger Peterson. Waylon Jennings was also at the Surf that day, but gave up his seat to Richardson, and took the bus. When Holly learned that Jennings wasn't going to fly, he said in jest, ''Well, I hope your ol' bus freezes up'' and Jennings responded, also in jest, ''Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes''. This would haunt Jennings for the rest of his life. Dad stayed in the car while I completed my lone pilgrimage. The visit was short, the day was cool, and this fan monument was insightful and worth the trip to this lonely stretch where unfortunate history was made. I hope that any person reading this review has a chance to visit here and the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, which is the site of Buddy Holly's last performance.

I placed my sunglasses in the middle of the bridge of Buddy Holly's glasses in the photo attached. True artists and RIP to all that past that day. RIP Highly recommend checking out this spot. Pretty cool to see.
