Talk about the right place at the right time. (AIE)…read more Went for a walk around the Abby in slip on sketchers. Made friends with the mud that will take your shoes and your dignity. Luckily didn't fall in the mud. Walked in and explained my lack of shoes on this trip. Was directed by a kind female associate to some semi water proof sketcher boots. 3 colors but they only had one in my size. They must have other stores because they can have a pair sent the next day. Beyond happy with the service. Felt comfortable, welcome, and listened to. (American in England)
This particular branch of Mr Shoes is hidden away within the town centre. It is very easy to access…read moreand although there is not a lot of room inside it is just about possible to get a buggy inside there. Although called Mr Shoes the shop does in fact sell more than just shoes - it also sells sandals, flip flops, trainers and boots. These are for both men and women, but there are no childrens shoes sold. There are often sales and special offers available, such as buy one get one half price. Due to the size of the shop there are very few sizes on display and they dont have a wide range of sizes in the store room which can be disappointing. Price wise I would say that the store is very competitive. Styling is often very modern. Staff are often helpful and will check stock in another branch for you if you request it.

This is the first shop I went to when my children were learning to walk. The staff there are fully…read moretrained in how to measure a small childs feet, especially when they are just starting to walk. I think this is really important, as they cannot tell you if the shoes fit them or not. The staff offer a treat (with parents permission) to older children when they get their new shoes (and siblings often get one too). Younger members of staff are supervised to ensure they learn how to correctly measure a childs foot. I have never felt pressured into buying new shoes - in fact if my child didnt need them then I wasnt told I need any new ones. Prices are expensive - but you are paying for quality and correct fitting and sizing which is important when dealing with your child's first shoes. This shop does, of course, sell shoes for adults as well but I dont really find those to my taste.

If you get the Joe Browns catalogue - it's that kind of stuff a bit surfy, but not in a sporty way, more of a kooky way! Reasonable prices and very friendly staff, with not too much stuff packed in so that you can't move like in most clothes shops.

I would say that this shop offers something different from 'normal' outlets and that this is a distinctive advantage and probably a very good reason as to why this shop is still going strong after so many years, and hopefully will continue to do so. It sells a wide variety of clothes for both men and women, some by well known and some less well known manufacturers / designers. The shop also sells gifts and accessories. Access to the shop is easy for a buggy as there is no step. Price wise, I would say that the prices are on an average level. If you are looking to wear something different from other people, then this is a good place to try.
Relatively small selection of shoes for a Clarks shop, but the staff are friendly and knowledgable…read more I got my daughters' first shoes here and they waited for absolutely ages very patiently while she pretended that she couldn't walk! I don't go here now, but use Dudley mason's instead as there is a much wider range of children's shoes there.
Little confusing, had what I needed…read more The first floor is all men's. Clothes, shoes, ect. It may be that I'm not familiar on where the signage is for the offerings on the second floor. Asked an employee. Very polite. He confirmed that the second floor was more store and a women's section. Also on offering was more sport equipment variety, roller blades, working neon vests, and a game / toy section manned by to employees behind a counter. That game/toy corner looked like a toys r us and a Game Center found a spot and grew out of the wall. Seriously, not a complaint, just surprised me. Purchased a foam roller and a jump rope. May return for a jacket or hoodie, possibly an umbrella. Good prices. Nice staff. (American in England)
