Dr. Sal is amazing! My cat was misdiagnosed for almost two months by two different vets. After…read moreexamining my cat and listening to her history he basically knew right away what was wrong......cancer. Dr. Sal's staff kept Georgette for the day and did xrays and bloodwork. Dr. Sal called me right away and said he had bad news. Tests confirmed cancer. How did he know this right off the bat and two other doctors got it wrong? He knew because he's seen a lot in his 36 years of practice. While he didn't sugar coat the diagnosis, and basically left me speechless on the phone with my options of amputation or euthanasia, I am appreciative of his honesty. We elected for amputation and Dr. Sal somehow managed to fit her in and get the surgery done as both he and I couldn't stand to see her is so much pain. Dr. Sal did a great job with the surgery and I am happy to say Georgette is running around the house, jumping on the bed, climbing stairs and even killing mice. My cat owes her life to Dr. Sal and his technicians and I am forever grateful for his expertise.

Priced out of veterinarian care The only reason we ever order meds outside of the vet's office is…read morebecause the vet charges 25-30% more than getting it at Chewy or Costco etc. It isn't enough for them that that they have overpriced the vet visit cost. I feel like they aren't taking a look around their community to see that people are without work, or paying substantially more for EVERYTHING. I really liked Dr. Martin at Califon Animal Hospital, but this felt like the practice is so oblivious to the issues we are all facing - which could now come between us and getting the adequate care for our pets. For those of us who still have jobs, none of us have gotten huge raises, we've only gotten higher bills. When will it end? They tried to justify this high fee by saying it takes an hour to process a prescription request. I have worked for a free nonprofit medical clinic and there was no way it took an hour unless we were processing patient assistance program forms. They tried to excuse it by saying they have 3000+ patients (is that saying that they have too many patients??). I am wondering if this money grab looks at the job market or the dire situation of cost of living increase we have all faced over the last year - or if it's only looking at their bottom line and how they can make a little more profit off of us. Update July 2026: Really disappointed in this practice that is overcharging and nickel & diming customers to the detriment of the animals they serve. Received a quote today that was a FOUR HUNDRED PERCENT (yes, 400%) increase from another vet I used in a former state and they tried to excuse it by stating they provided superior detail (all the while all the other Local vets dont have loss of pets under their care nor changing as high a fee).
