this plaza is in the heart of granada, smack dab center, where all the shoppes, restaurants, and tourist sites are. foot traffic is heavy here, and on any given day, you will see locals, tourists, large tourist groups following a city walking tour, and gypsies! yes, beware of the gypsies who try to sell you something, be very wary of your pocketbook, bag, and other personal belongings b/c they might try to take those away from you!
on one side of the plaza is the famed catedral de granada, and on the remaining three sides are buildings that appeared to be apartment complexes. in the center is a fountain, which makes for a nice backdrop in your souvenir photo. there is also a small stage, where i imagine shows and other forms of entertainment take place (although, not when i was there). i actually sat on this stage and had a snack while taking a break from our self made walking tour of the city.
while not as big as plazas in other larger cities, if you visit granada, definitely stop by this plaza and have a peek. read more
