It's difficult to fully explain what happens during a session with her because the experience is so unique and deeply personal. I'm someone who usually prefers structure, plans, and clear expectations but this work didn't operate that way and requires you to submit and trust the process, as elusive as that sounds. I wasn't even super clear on what I wanted to work on initially, I just knew I was at a crossroads. However, reflecting back, the changes that occurred were profound, rapid, and largely unconscious/unintentional. I wouldn't have even necessarily been able to define what I wanted to change or heal until suddenly things had lifted and I realized how different I felt and was operating only in hindsight. Elaine was able to identify and clear emotional blocks I had carried since early childhood; including a heaviness and melancholy I didn't even realize had become part of my normal baseline until it was gone. One of the biggest shifts I noticed was in my nervous system and emotional reactivity. I used to experience an immediate stress response to even minor external triggers and would absorb other people's negative energy very deeply. Now, I still recognize others' emotions without carrying them as my own and can operate with boundaries in such an effortless manner. Initially, I was hesitant, resilient and a bit bothered by the idea of going to the life coach that…read moremy friend had recommended to me. I was at a point in my life where even the familiar was becoming strange. I felt that seeking someone to talk to was admitting defeat to the daily happenings and that I was finally throwing in the towel and going down for the count. Even after shooting emails back and forth before we met, I was still nervous about meeting. I second-guessed myself. I wondered if this is what I really needed, if I could talk in a public setting or if I would just freeze and nothing would come out. I worried about what I would say or how to get to a point where I could actually say what was on my mind. And then Logan walked into the coffee shop that night.... I couldn't have been more wrong about something than I was looking for help. Throwing in that proverbial towel is part of what has gotten me to where I am today: a happy, more direct/clearly spoken and generally unbothered young man. All of my inhibitions concerning meetings were quickly put aside because I realized that I was still in my comfort zone to a degree. I wasn't being pointed at and given strict instructions on what to do. There was no imbalance of power. We were, and still are, just two guys talking about things over a cup of coffee. He will also be the first to tell you that he doesn't have all the answers. Instead he will ask the right questions to steer to conversation to where the answer might be and usually is. Like I said before, you're very much two people having a conversation over a cup of coffee. I meet with Logan bi-weekly (and with few exceptions, have since Dec/Jan) and always look forward to our meetings and the satisfying feeling afterwards when I reflect on what we discussed. Looking back to just the beginning of this year, we can see - especially those around me - the progress that I have made. I have set realistic goals and know which ones I should take, the pitfalls that I may encounter and the best way for me to deal with them. I interact better, smoother and more genuinely with other people now. I also don't destructively overanalyze things like I used to. And I owe the bulk of it to Logan and his methods. I honestly can't say enough good things about him. He's a wonderful guy that can make anyone feel comfortable.
