This park is known for its 12 pickleball courts, along with baseball/softball, and football athletic field. The Pickleball courts are on first come first serve, no fee, no reservation, and no paddle equipment rental for open/recreational play. The hours are Dawn to Dusk. Pickleball court Lights turn on at sunset and turn off at 10 PM. Please note there is no more tennis play at this facility! Athletic fields for organized play reservation required 72-hour notice. There is a Lightning Detection installed and completely free parking! The strengths of Brooks Park are accessibility, community use and a solid setup. This is a good place for anyone interested in pickleball, organized recreation or simply staying active.

The price is steep for a horrible place. When the hopper isn't filled all the way the machine can scam you out of a round and your money. There is a dedicated parking area and the Black History Museum is on site. The playground has a soft base and is located under some large shade trees. For those who might not be aware, Roberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican professional baseball player who played 18 seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Dame in 1973, becoming both the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enshrined. He was an All-Star for 13 seasons and MVP for the National League in 1966. His batting average was over .300 for 13 seasons and he had 3,000 hits during his major league career. He also played in two World Series championships. So clearly, an outstanding sportsman. Clemente was involved in charity work in Latin American and Caribbean countries during the off-seasons, often delivering baseball equipment and food to those in need. On December 31, 1972, he died in a plane crash at the age of 38 while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. The following season, the Pirates retired his uniform number 21, and MLB renamed its annual Commissioner's Award in his honor; now known as the Roberto Clemente Award, it is given to the player who "best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual's contribution to his team." Because he was born in Puerto Rico and played baseball for a team based in Pittsburgh, I'm a little unsure as to why this park in Fort Myers (which does not have a baseball field) is named in his honor. Lions Park is a small park located next to Lee Memorial Hospital on US 41 with playground,…read morepavilions, tennis, pickleball, basketball courts and baseball field. The hours were dawn to dusk. For the local Fort Myers residence, some of us remembered Lions Park, as "Tent City" during the Covid-19 outbreak. A growing number of homeless were setting up tents and shops in Lions Park. Mayor Kevin Anderson gathered a homeless coalition and cleaned up the Park. Renovations were made to restore the playground, tennis, basketball, tennis, pickleball courts and baseball field after Hurricane Ian. Recently, we stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to check the condition of the park. The basketball, tennis, pickleball and baseball were in great condition. Due to blazing Floridian weather, no baseball, tennis, pickle games were on. There were two people in the basketball court chatting with a basketball nearby. Clearly there were no tents! Inside the Playground pavilion, there were two people with several shopping carts and shopping bags with personal belongings. The water fountain was clogged and a discarded toothbrush was visible. Two benches were full of personal belongs as well. The playground structures appeared in new condition and well constructed. Murals were painted on concrete walk. Very Nice! There are three separate parking areas; at the playground entrance, at tennis and pickleball court entrance and the baseball field entrance. There is a circular water fountain with life size status of Wes Nott, across the street from the park. This is not part of Lions Park but located in the northeast corner of Lee Memorial Hospital and known as Wes Nott Memorial Park. Wes Nott was a legendary local swim coach or one of best swim coaches in Florida. We don't live in this neighborhood but one day, we'll try out their free pickleball court in cooler weather!

In 2018 the Hendry LaBelle Recreation Board upgraded the park by adding several gazebos, grills, and picnic tables along with an extended parking area. The park also has a floating boat dock with 10 slips, benches, restrooms, and a small playground. The LaBelle Garden Club added the plants to the park. This is a beautiful waterfront park along the Caloosahatchee River in LaBelle Fl. My favorite feature of the park are the picnic tables along the water under the shady live, water, and southern oak trees dripping in Spanish moss. I grabbed a take out lunch from the Log Cabin BBQ and had a birthday picnic overlooking the river. As I ate I watched the boats flying down the river. This is the perfect place to enjoy a meal, fish, or just take in the view.
