Peñon Amador is a pretty nice, pretty remote beach in the Camuy area of Puerto Rico…read more There's lots of cool vegetation in the hills of the beach, and rocky formations that look really sweet when the waves crash against them. One thing you'll notice at Peñon Amador is the little island a ways out into the water that has a cross on it. I've heard people say it's a memorial to a maid that drown, or that it's to all the people who have drown there. Whichever it is, it's definitely a warning that the surf can get really powerful and to enter the water cautiously and carefully. We noticed it was super choppy too so just viewed it from the beach without going in too deep! The beach is very clean and not super busy, in comparison to the beaches in the larger areas of Puerto Rico. But it is a little bit of a drive from the central areas of San Juan, etc. You may notice I have mentioned the remoteness a few times. And that's because we accidentally locked our keys in our car at this beach (totally our fault), and it took the roadside assistance service that we called about an hour to get to us - as it was getting dark! Luckily they came just in time and we were able to get into our car, but if you aren't staying nearby, just be sure to have enough gas to get back to where you came from (and don't lock your keys in your car! LOL) Aside from the remote nature of Peñon Amador, and the choppy water situation, it was a really nice beach area that's clean, quiet, and beautiful.

I literally could just watch them for hours because it was so peaceful. ~ Plenty of parking at this beach (paved parking lot & a small sandy parking area located right off the road) ~ 4 rinse-off stations located outside for beach goers to use to help w/ off sand ~clean beach ~This beach has a giant bench to strike a pose with. ~Plenty of sandy beach so not easily crowded FYI(s): ~ Watch out for sea urchins! During our visit we saw sea urchins black in color near the boat ramp. Be careful not to step on them w/ your bare feet because it does hurt (thankfully NOT speaking from personal experience ) - see video of the sea urchins posted in this review Even though we stopped by this beach when it was a cloudy day & there were only a handful of people at the beach during our visit, I really don't see this beach being a super busy beach. This beach area has everything you could want and/or need…read more The water pools are nice and the other parts of the beach by the ocean are very nice and relaxing. They have restrooms and several food trucks and restaurants within walking distance. FYI: it can have some shady people walking around so be careful. There were some vendors walking around the beach selling this and that and we did purchase some natilla from a nice couple which was delicious. I really love this beach and we spent about a half a day here on the beach and in the area enjoying food and drinks. If you're in San Juan definitely make the journey out to here and you'll be thankful you did. Have fun ;)

Hands down my favorite beach and place to relax in PR!…read more I literally cannot even tell you how much I fricking love this place!!! The day we went it wasn't too busy but the water was horrendous due to the full moon so going in the water was a little too dangerous for us so we just laid out and sipped piña coladas, listened to some music, and cuddled. This is one of those places that just proves God is real because only he could create something so beautiful. There were several food trucks and a couple of individuals selling adult beverages while we were there which was super sweet because we didn't bring anything with us. We enjoyed a couple delicious piña coladas from some lady who was making them under a pop up. So good! I literally cannot wait to go back to PR just so we can come here again but we will definitely be taking a cooler and spending the entire day here. The views and beaches are breathtaking. I hope you enjoy this place as much as we did.

It isn't the best part of town. I've never felt in danger though. The sand is incredibly soft, carameled colored. The water is a clear mint color. It's right next to a lighthouse that has a beautiful view of the coast line. I heard an American say, "I love it here, I want to move here! " It made us giggle. It was amazing to see how there's no more parking lot. Hurricane Maria blew so much sand in that all the sand completely covered the parking lot.

No stores or any kind of place to buy anything. There is a guy renting chairs and umbrellas but they are limited, there is not shade close to the beach but you can safe swin. The beach next to it is for surfers and it is not safe to swin plus not liveguard at all. The shorter way to walk there is a little dangerus, a lot of roks can end on a bad fall. i find out from one of the locals that if you want to skip the rocks you can walk using an entrance that is on the side of the road and you will end up on the surfers beach and just walk to la poza. i will add a picture where this entrance is locaded.

Playa la Cueva de las Golondrinas…read more To get to this beach and cave, you will be walking a path through bushes and some Mud. They are some homemade signs and if you ask around people will help you. Golondrinas is a small beach with a cove that is somewhat protected. There can be waves or currents at this beach, most likely in the winter. But hey ! In Puerto Rico is summer all year ! The beach is nice, sand is soft, there are trees for shade, and the cave makes a nice barrier from the rough ocean. It's a nice place to spend some time. Bonus!!! They are other paths out from this beach or near this one. These paths lead around the Nature Reserve, to other beaches and even the river. It's a neat place to explore. One of my favorites spot on the island !

It's slippery and you have to wear water shoes or you might get hurt. My guy ended up getting a few cuts cuz he slipped while catching me. We also didn't see too many fish while we were here. However, I did enjoy reaching my book while listening to the sound of the waves/water. Much nicer than being surrounded by a ton of people talking.

There is a large coral reef. The rocks are sharp and all size. If you get near the edge. You will see the ocean. To the right side underneath There are caves. It is beautiful. If you like photography. You will love this area. You are high up. It is almost like a cliff. You have to be really careful here. The rocks are sharp and jagged. There is an arrow pointing to the left. I it looks like a trail. I didn't see take it . It might lead down. But the caves and a really nice viewing area was to the left. This place has plenty of parking and shade. I enjoyed the view and the scenery. It was absolutely beautiful.
