The entrance is a bit difficult to find as it is between fields with cattle but has a metal entrance arch. One hour from Estepona. One and a half hours from Marbella.

Its got a mix of paradise beach with mountains on the side. The sand is yellow and powdery and the water is really good. It's a mix of the atlantic ocean along with the mediterannean. They've got beach paddling boats you can rent along with deck chairs and shelter. It's also got restaurant's on the outskirts of the beach, along with a tiny fair that they put for the kids in the summer and a afternoon/night market they put out during the summer. Offering jewellery, clothes and house decorations at a bargain price :)

It can be busier in the summer months especially with tourists not just from outside of spain. The best thing to do is to bring some homemade sangria wine and a floating bar (essentially a solid block of flat wood) that you can use to keep your drinks perched above the water while you snorkel and check out the little fish! Alternatively you can lounge on the sand and get a head start on that melanoma, wrinkling, moles, all the good things people get when they are those who don't bother putting on sunscreen!

It wasn't quite yet high tourist season, so was it still easy to find yourself a spot. Its mostly tourists but there are some local Spaniards relaxing along side. The water is calm and looked clean enough for some pleasant swimming. The sand is more rocky than fine, so bring flip flops. And beer! There's a section where you can rent lounge chairs. Topless sunbathing supposedly isn't allowed, but no one is there to enforce the rules, so you might see some boobs, just like any other European beach(A warning for the sensitive "proper" British wives). The abandoned restaurant is creepy yet fascinating, and not nearly as creepy as the few drugged out homeless hippies you might see. But overall, I spent a several hours here happy, relaxed, and slightly intoxicated. Cheers! TRAVEL TIP: Spain has some beautiful beaches along the Costa del Sol, but most of the water is actually polluted due to inadequate sewage systems. Don't drink the water!

I stayed in a hotel right next to the beach!…read more Although the waters are salty (it IS the Mediterranean Sea) and a tad bit cold, even in a time like August, I still really enjoyed this beach. It's a great time for families to enjoy their time here, with bars and restaurants in this area. Many people build BEAUTIFUL sandcastles for display - though you'll need to pay to take a picture with them (interesting way for people to make money)! There are still quite a bit of shells that you will see in this beach, especially if you're lucky, they're right along the coast! The best part about this beach are probably the beach shops and souvenirs right beside it. It was super convenient, and it brought a culture to this beach. I would definitely recommend living in the hotels close to the beach, super convenient!!

She gave me crystal clear directions on how to come here for their Seafood-only Paella instead. Talk about al fresco and literally on the beach dining. Stars almost aligned at this super popular spot. These folks know how to keep a crowd. We chose beach-dining and at 11:30pm, the energy said, "keep going". I'm not even sure if Sangria is even a Spanish thing anymore- because the last 3 (pitchers and single glass) we've had were beyond weak and tasted like juice. Our Pata de Pulpo was indeed an octopus leg and that was turn-off as the ENTIRE grilled tentacle laid on lettuce. Yes, it had good flavor- but we didn't like the chewiness. Grilled Sardines had great, garlicky flavor though. The star of the show was a heaping pan of Seafood-Paella. Except at first sight, hubs and I looked like deer in headlights because it was super juicy (and not in a good way) with a heavy tomato sauce base. Our server knew exactly what we wanted and asked if we wanted it 'dry'. Of course. The saffron, seafood broth and the seafood itself, instantly gave the paella a nice taste overall. Service was very friendly. And if for nothing else, take advantage of sitting beach-side, enjoy other bites, sandy toes and Chiringuito's energetic vibe.
