We enrolled our 7 year old son Evan into this camp, and he discovered his strong love for musical theater. Highly recommend!

I've had the luck and pleasure of living near Riverside Park in the Upper West Side for a while…read morenow. One of the early treats I discovered the summer I moved in was the small outdoor productions run by Hudson Warehouse. Yes folks-free public theatre right under your nose. Because the plays are often hidden from view to both people on Riverside Drive and the park itself to some extent you may not even know about them, but do seek them out. Take a seat behind the soldiers monument on the large staircase and enjoy great classics that rely 95% on the actor as opposed to props, lighting and music. No this isn't Shakespeare in the Park, or even off off Broadway stuff, but it has its own charm. One of my favorites was the Importance of Being Earnest which was a real crowd pleaser a couple of years ago. However, even if the play isn't to your liking they rotate through at least three options over the course of the summer months. The actors have consistently surprised me in terms of quality and sometimes you get a real treat watching the performances. They're even so kind as to hand out a playbill before each production with background on each actor. The only issue I wish they'd work on is the audio-on a day with breeze and traffic it can be very hard to hear them. Especially some of the actors that don't have powerful voices. Not to mention some lines weren't intended to be shouted or emphasized so heavily. The setting can help support comedic aspects of the plays though for certain. In any case, my hats off to the wonderful people who put together these types of things for the public and work off of only small donations at the end. I recommend everyone in the area go at least once on a warm summer night-it sure beats just a walk in the park.

Rollicking fun on an impromptu stage on the steps next to the big stone column thing in Hudson River Park near 89th and 90th streets and Riverside Dr. Imaginative use of bare-bones props and natural surroundings (and bed-sheets... you'll have to see for yourself!). Seriously though, bring a light picnic dinner, a blanket to sit on, some friends, and some cash for donations and you'll be in for a real treat. Make sure you get there a little early to get the best/closets seats along the steps, or it may get hard to hear. 5 stars for a great time Revisit? Certainly!

I have dealt with other companies and Kidz Theater took the time to really know my child and to not only develop her strength but to make her talent shine. I did not feel that it was just another company taking the money to have my child in the background. It didn't matter if it was a big or small part, the child is taught details of auditions and how to act professional through rehearsals of the show. I will recommend Kidz Theater to everyone. I just love doing improv with Carl Kissin. Why?…read more 1. The mix of students includes working actors wanting to broaden their skill set, curious first-timers looking for laughs, white collar types wanting to hone their speechifying skills, and frequent out-of-towners who are curious about the NYC improv scene. Working with such diverse students means that every class is a new learning experience. 2. The vibe, which grows from Carl Kissin himself, is deeply kind and encouraging. It's a safe space to try new things, mess up, try again, and discover weird bits of yourself that are usually too shy to come out. 3. The skills apply to everything in life, especially to interpersonal relationships. Carl pushes us to listen with our whole being and get out of our own heads and completely focus on our scene partner's "message." Guess what? Doing this also happens to be the secret sauce of great communication. I'm constantly amazed how much improv has to teach me about living. It's like therapy, but fun! If you're wondering whether or not to hire The Chamberlain Brass for your wedding -- stop wondering…read moreand reach out ASAP! I hired Franco and his team for my wedding in August 2017. I found them through a random Google search, so I was a little anxious that I hadn't heard them live before. It was my mom's one and only special request to have an orchestra at my wedding, so I was also nervous about making sure she was happy. From the very beginning, Franco was professional and super easy to work with. Very responsive to emails and willing to accommodate all of our (many, often last minute) requests. We asked him for a lot -- we had the group play prelude music, different music for groomsmen, bridesmaid, parents and bride processions, recession and a bunch of hymns in between. We also had him come to our wedding rehearsal, for an extra fee. For the prelude music and processionals, I gave him a list of song requests from group's extensive repertoire. For our recession, I really wanted something that was not on his list -- "Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay. I found sheet music online and a recording of another brass band playing the song. The sheet music wasn't written in an easy key for brass instruments, but I took a chance and forwarded it to Franco. He went out of his way to find better sheet music for his team. It ended up sounding wonderful! The hymns were the most important thing for my mom. She loves big, loud, grand church music. The week of my wedding, I sent Franco a number of long-winded, frantic emails with sheet music for the hymns, tips about how to play with my church's (very slow singing) choir, my mom's instructions to play very dramatically, etc. One of the songs they had to play wasn't even in English (the verses were in Malayalam, my native language). It was very last-minute-bride of me, but Franco took it all in stride. He showed up exactly on time for the rehearsal and discussed cues, etc. with our organist. I didn't have to worry at all! And on the day of, everything went perfectly! It gave me so much joy to listen to The Chamberlain Brass play during our service. The hymns especially were marvelous and so grand -- exactly what I was hoping for! I was smiling ear to ear the whole time they were playing, they sounded so heavenly. And my mom loved it so much, I swear she listens to a recording of our wedding hymns every single day. From beginning to end, The Chamberlain Brass was definitely the vendor that was easiest to work with for my wedding, and they absolutely delivered on the day of. Thank you for making our service so beautiful!

He was extremely timely with responding to all emails and inquiries. Even though we booked very far in advance, he never dismissed any of our concerns or questions and treated us with extraordinary respect. The contract was clear, concise, and absolutely in favor of the customer. The prices were very reasonable considering their service, and they offered a number of different payment options to make it convenient. As far as the performance, all of our guests were so impressed and excited by the live music. They loved how Chamberlain Brass played a great combination of classic and contemporary work to suit our style. We loved this part of our wedding, and would recommend them to anyone who asks!
