Platypus House is a cool wildlife attraction that specializes in the display and conservation of Australia's unique egg-laying mammals: the platypus and the echidna. Gayle and I were part of a guided tour here. Our group had twice come up short trying to see a platypus in the wild (Hobart and Cradle Mountain), and welcomed a chance to see one up close, even in a controlled environment.
Our experience included the following:
1. A well-led 45-minute guided tour.
2. Platypus Viewing, including watching them swim in an open pool and through large glass-sided tanks.
3. A stroll and a sit in an Echidna Garden, while watching them eat and freely walking around at our feet. read more
