Super nice Plato's Closet location. Located off of Manchester Road in a sleepy strip mall, this is the largest one I've been to in a while. It's 90% women's clothes, so my friend was loving it. There's some men's selection, but it's few and far between. The prices weren't bad at ALL given today's economy -- and the staff were eerily friendly (Plato's employees are known to be a bit snobbish). I'd come back! read more

This is hands down one of my favorite Plato's Closet locations. This store is always well organized, has a great selection, and lots of local gear at a great price (Blues, Cardinals, Mizzou) which I love! Of the Plato's I've been too, I'd say this is one of the best for bang for your buck. The cost here are typically lower than other Plato's I've visited (like you can actually find items for less than $5 each versus the one in Columbia Mo that doesn't typically have a single item for less than $8-$10). Staff here has always been helpful and kind too. For a resale shop, it doesn't get much better than this location. read more

Plato's Closet is a treasure trove of good clothes mostly for $2-10 dollars (some are more). I am aware I could find cheaper clothing at a thrift store but then I'd have to do a lot more digging for good items and I don't have the patience. I'll pay for the convenience of someone else sifting through that for me! Found some American Eagle mom jeans today, TopShop sandals, a couple cute cropped tanks, and a long, flowy dress for around 30 bucks. Last time I went I got some Lululemon pants, GapFit pants, an Adidas sweater, and a couple t-shirts. My only complaints: I was approached and catcalled by some guy today (while I was alone) but I know this can happen anywhere. Still, I felt uncomfortable after the situation occurred, but he backed off when I told him to go away. There just seems to be some weird people that shop here sometimes. The rudest girls work here. Gave them two bags of clothes today January 9th to look at. They said it would by 40 minutes. Walked around and they never even opened the bags and came back and said we don't need any of this stuff. That's fine IF they actually looked but it was nice stuff with tags still on. They were lazy and rude and condescending. Do not waste your time to bring clothes here or to buy the crap they sell. Terrible. I bought a pair of jeans here for about $16. When I got home, the zipper was ripped open, so they obviously don't check the clothes before they take them in and put them on the racks. Also I've frequently bought clothes here only to get home to find they've got hidden stains, mold, holes, tears, or snags. Gross!! Also found out recently that they do not wash ANYTHING they get before they put it on the racks!! read more

Definitely one of the best Plato's closets. There is a large variety of clothing, from Lilly Pulitzer to Cardinals apparel to STL apparel, you can definitely find what you need here! I would recommend looking at their social media for any updates, sales or new items. read more

I forgot this chain even existed until I happened to see it driving back from Goodwill. I wish we had come here first! Prices were comparable, but obviously the merchandise was a little better here, and my kid didn't have to sift through a bunch of matronly things to find the cool stuff. Also: they allow returns within 7 days. They really have this store packed so getting around it can be tough. I agree that the staff seemed indifferent, but this isn't exactly the kind of environment where I'd expect to be treated like I was at Nordstrom so it's not a big deal. read more

*EDIT* I feel like I need to update this review. Just wanted to keep it short and sweet- they have done a lot with their staff and they are much friendlier. I have been in many times since the below review and the staff ALWAYS greets me and I no longer overhear gossip. Well done! I have been shopping at platos closet for years. I used to love the Kirkwood store. So when they moved to Manchester, I was expecting the same level of service and quality. I was wrong. Let me start off with my experience walking in the door the other day. I consider myself a regular and many employees know me by name. When I walked in, I received no greeting from the buyer at the counter, just a cold stare. Throughout my whole shopping experience, I was not spoken to once by any of the employees. To top it off, I overheard, pretty plainly, two employees gossiping about a customer who had just left. They then went on to complain about other various types of customers in the store. I could hear them from down the isle. Clearly many of the young employees here are not concerned about customer service and are more concerned about catching up with their social lives. I love the deals I find once in a while here, and the thrill of bargain hunting, but the level of service I have been experiencing is unacceptable, and I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone. read more

When I first came to this Platos Closet location, they had a very wide selection of unopened self-care products, like lotions, facemasks, and perfumes. Since the new location has opened, I feel like the selection is not as filled as before. I really loved this section because I was able to try new products at a greatly reduced price. Store was nice HOWEVER the guy who checked me out was rude! I figured I would help by removing the hangers from the items and he snatched the hanger every time I passed them. After the 3rd time I asked how he was doing he replied he was ok. I then asked if they offered Military discount he said he didn't know and told me my total. I have been happily shopping at Plato's for over 15 years at all locations. I was really excited when they moved into Manchester; however, ever since they opened, I have been nothing but disappointed. The selection has declined significantly and prices are higher. The store looks bad, the parking lot has so many holes you can barely drive through it, and the manager is rude. The employees, who used to be very friendly, now seem like they hate working there. I had a horrible experience with young women who work there, particularly Kayla, who was rude and had an attitude of a middle schooler. If the store is going to hire teenagers, they should at least stick to mature ones. Ive sold things at this location many times. When I came in today, I had a fully closed suitcase, a bag with shoes and an opened tiny baggy with bangles in it. I was told it'd be 40 min or so but as soon as I got in my car to go get coffee while they went through my things, I got a message saying they were done. Kayla told me she found a centipede in my bangle baggy. I had no clue what she was talking about. I asked whether its alive or dead and what did she do with this 'centipede'. She told me that I need to go wash all my stuff & then bring it back. I said 'you want me to go wash my bangles, shoes and clothes from a fully closed suitcase?' She said 'yes'. I searched for this supposed centipede & couldn't find it, even though it was supposed to be in a tiny bag as Kayla said she didnt remove it. Heck, if it existed, it could have crawled in from their floor where the baggy was sitting. The attitude I got seemed so childish. I took my daughter, who has been wanting to go forever. We drove a hour 15 mins to go to THIS location. It was so overwhelming walking in. Absolutely huge. So many items!! It could take hours to go through everything. Staff wasn't super friendly but was not rude either. I feel they would benefit more from a bigger store, if anyone has problem with being overwhelmed easy, IT WILL happen when you walk into here! If I could give this place a negative 10 I would. My boyfriend and I brought some clothes in.. Hardly worn, name brand stuff. A whole thirty one bag worth, and they didn't take 1 thing!! We were in such shock we started laughing thinking they were joking or something. After browsing the racks and seeing major wash wear, and shirts with holes, I was just baffled. The guy working there (which I assume is the manager because he told someone they could take their break) was so snobby and acted like this has been his dream job forever and it's his life goal to only take the most perfect stuff, which ours was compared to what was in there. I went here today. Ive been here a few times before since they moved locations but as soon as I walked in the door I was overwhelmed by how messy it was! Clothes all over the floor and most of the employees just standing behind the counter. I wanted to try on some clothes so I walked over the dressing room where a male employee was standing. He looked right at me and zoomed passed before I had a chance to ask for a room. I don't think its that hard to unlock a door for someone but he seemed like he didn't want me asking for anything. Worst location possible. I had over 100 items and they only took 5. I had barely worn clothes all name brand items. The lady who was doing it, didn't even look at most of the items and she just threw all the clothes in a pile and did it less than 15 minutes. Absolutely THE worst shopping snd selling experience we have ever had. 1. Thier selling prices are so close to new prices that it isn't worth the search effort. 2. The buyers are incompetent. A brand new with tags dress that is still in a certain upscale retail juniors store was considered not thier style. Curiously, upon searching thier racks they had several similar and one nearly identical dress on thier racks priced at an unbelievably high price for a used ...and snagged ... version of our dress. Then there are the nearly new, worn 3 times, chucks that were supposedly too worn. The soles are still spotless and no dirt or scuffs. Upon checking thier racks I found several pair of shoes that I wouldn't even put in a garage sale. Frankly, the Plato's closet in St. Peters is far superior to this location and were happy to accept the items this location rejected. This is my first time dealing with this place and i don't think I'll ever come back again! I brought 4 bags of cloth and shoes in; all in great condition, brand name stuff, some of it, even with the price tags still attached. Employees behind the counter(3 or 4 of them) said it is 2 hours wait(midweek afternoon). Well, I came back in the evening only to find out they didn't take 1 thing!! O well, they have "high standards", I thought. But worth part is, when I came home and opened the bags, I realize, that they didn't even look at the cloth; everything was in the same exact way I folded it at home and in the same order!!!l NO WORDS!!! This is offensive and disrespectful!!! I spend my time to drive there to drop off and then back, to pick up my stuff and they didn't spend, even ,2 min to look at it, but played "2 hours wait game" very well!!! This location is technically ok. Nothing wrong with it. I mainly don't respect Platos Closet as a company. I feel like they don't do things honestly. For example, the other day I went in to sell some clothes. They then said, "we liked 15 of your items and we will offer you $39.02". I then proceeded to ask if I could get a print out of everything they were wanting to buy and what they were wanting to buy each item for. These are, in fact, my items and I want to know what they are selling for. The girl looked confused and said "well, you can see right here what we are buying" and pointed to the clothes. I told her that I wanted to see what they were paying individually for each item. The manager then came up and said that they don't do that. Here's my problem... Shouldn't I have a right to know what they are buying my things for? They gave me the print out this one time but said they never do. I looked at the list and it's almost a joke at how much they were offering me for each item. $2 for a brand new pair of heels (worth $60) in the box with tags. Never worn. $4 for perfect condition American eagle jeans. When I lived in Californja there was a shop I could sell my clothes and they gave me a print out every time. So I think they should always offer that so people can agree or disagree. Feels like they're trying to rip me off. Also, I looked around the store and they are wayyyy overcharging for things. A forever 21 used dress was $16! Forever 21 jeans with the tag still on said $7.90 but they were selling for $8??
