It's my go to place, for now. I've been here about five times total, usually I don't have a problem. I was first intrigued by this place because of all the other yelpers. But I'm starting to find that it's just okay for me. Got my mani and pedi for the weekend. I knew what I wanted from Pinterest. I wanted shellac, so it'll last me. But their options weren't that great. I just wanted a simple nude based nail with a gold tip. Nude in shellac wasn't available and I was going to go with a sheer nude color it seemed but last minute I changed my mind. Glad I did, because I didn't want just a gold tipped nail. The lady doing my nails was kind of rough with with filer. Actually she's always been the few times that she's done my nails. So right now as I type this review my fingers sting as there are little cuts on my skin. And this time there's nail polish all over the tips of my fingers. No complaints on my toes though. SO that's a good thing! Afternoons they're usually busy so best make an appointment. I was a walk-in today so I had a little bit of a wait. Half way through my appoint it started to kind of lighten up but as I left there were two girls waiting in the chairs just for a manicurist and three other girls were walk-ins. I've come to this salon several times. Sometimes they are fast other times they are not. Unfortunately today was not great. The girl talked about how bad my feet were and continued to laugh about it and could not get the hint she was making me and my daughter uncomfortable. Came in on a busy Saturday afternoon for a quick nail repair! I usually get my nails done in El Cerrito, but i had an emergency while at work and needed a quick fix! I came across this hidden gem after choosing not to receive service at another location, and i was BLOWN AWAY!!!! It's usually really difficult to find anyone who does good LONG nails in the 925 area, but they did not hesitate to take me in, NOR did they have any concern about going over anyone else's work! After about a 7 minute wait, i was seated and got my nail fixed! :-) This place e offers ALL TYPES of fabulous pedicures, and it even looked like they serve complimentary mimosas!!!! This review is for the nail artist Le! Ladies who want to show off their tips and take pride in the boldness of their nails should try coming to Platinum Nails and ask for Le. He can copy any design you have found on Pinterest and can shape your nails in every different kind of way. When I went in to the shop this past week, I watched Le finish two other girls' nails while my nails soaked to loosen the shellac gel. The two girls both received a flawless finish (I asked both of them to show me their nails), and I was inspired to pick out a design I had saved on my Pinterest board while I waited. Le gave me a gel manicure with a design, which came with FREE removal of the old shellac gel polish for a total of $30. What I like about how the manicure is executed is that all steps are executed properly. My nails are shaped and filed to perfection, which is critical when you want your nails to last and not peel or break during the following two weeks before the next manicure. Another plus is the lotion, massage and hot towel on the arms and hands at the end of the manicure, and my favorite part is walking out of the nail salon being able to handle anything, knowing that my nails will withstand it and are completely dry! I also purchased a gift card at the end of my appointment. If you like them, you can send one of your friends to see Le, like I did! I went here for the first time today to get a full acrylic set. I was excited to try this place out because it's just a ten minute walk from my house, and they were excellent! Everyone was super friendly, and my nails turned out beautifully! The best part was they did such a beautiful job and it didn't take too long. Scheduled an appointment for a gel manicure at 12pm yesterday and they were able to take me right on time. The had all customers spread out to follow social distancing rules and even had signs up to remind customers about social distancing. All staff members were wearing makes and gloves. I've been starting to do my own gel nails to save on costs and because I really didn't think it looked much different than the work my usual go-to nail salon does. I am graduating this week and wanted to treat myself to a manicure before the big day. Now that I've had my nails done by Lee...I realized previous work on my nails was not up to par!! I came here with my friend who's been going here for quiet some time. I am very picky about my nails since I haven't found a place that is consistent. I must say I will be returning here. Due to changes in management and ongoing tension with staff I stopped going to Platinum nails. Lee is an excellent acrylic nail stylist, but I noticed a sad change in his personality over time. Wow! Found this place cause my place just isn't working for me. They were able to do my fill and a pedi at the same time- which I love. I don't always have time to sit for 2 hrs between a fill and a pedi. So when a place Does both at the same time, I like it. I also got an eyebrow fax. I must say I'm really pleased with the service and outcome. My nails look great. Only gripe is that they do talk to each other a lot in Mandarin- which is why it got 4 stars. I thought my old salon was good... wow, these guys are incredible. I read the previous reviews on here so I called to make an appointment for a fill with Lee. Unfortunately he was booked all day so I told them I could see anyone. I sat down with my nail tech who did an amazing job. He was baffled by my previous fill because the underside of my acrylics were not cleaned properly. He smoothed them down and I felt so refreshed. It was a busy Saturday midday so they had another person paint them (who also did a good job) while the tech went onto the next client. On my way to the pedicure chair I stopped to ask the name of the manicurist who did my fill and to my surprise it was Lee! My pedicure was just as great. I'm a hiker/runner so my big toe nails get beat up pretty bad. They fixed the huge crack in my big toe nail (sanded it down, filled and sealed it) where my other salon would just paint over it. If I could dock just half a star I would, because the pedicure massage was not really a massage at all--more of just slathering lotion on your legs and feet. Doesn't bother me much though because I care more about the appearance of my nails and feet walking out of the salon. It's always unpredictable going to a new salon, but trust--these guys will take care of you! read more

Came here on a whim wanting to try a local salon. I always struggle with trying new places as I'm usually disappointed when it comes to the end result. I've been going to the same nail place in Dublin even after I moved to the Peninsula and Walnut Creek. So many other places I've tried don't do quality work or pay attention to detail. I called around 10:15am asking if I can just come in as a walk-in since I live close by. The lady who answered the phone was really nice and said that they could accommodate me when I come in. I walked in and thankfully there were only 3 other ladies being serviced. They asked me to pick a color (I was going from gel to regular nail polish) and by the time I was done choosing a chair was ready for me. I waited a few minutes and someone came to remove my gel pedicure. I didn't get left for a long time and forgotten about. A man came over to continue the removal and do my pedicure for me. I wish I had gotten his name as my pedicure was great! He did an excellent job and didn't rush. Prices were exactly as stated. No random price gouging or upcharges. My go-to salon in Dublin was annoying because prices would always fluctuate depending on who rung you up even though I've been going there for years. I'm hoping this becomes my new go-to salon as it's close to home and their prices are great! read more

They told me I couldn't get a fill over my two week old acrylics that I got done at the same salon. Literally ripped my nails off my fingers instead of soaking them properly and most of my nails were crooked. I previously went in with my mother in law and they charged us two different prices for the same pedicure, almost 20 dollars more for mine because I got gel polish, charged me 65 dollars for a fill for my mother in law and 65 for my full set. Their math is wrong and they over charge for poor service. This salon has gotten a lot less hygienic unfortunately. They used to provide good quality service unfortunately that has changed. read more

I equate it to a woman going to a mechanic and today my experience at platinum nails was no different. I asked for the Delux pedicure and was rushed through the process. No attention to detail. And once we arrived, they ushered us in, staggered our time in the pedicure chairs due to other customers, and rotated us through in a timely fashion. I love the greige color I got. $32 for a basic mani/pedi ain't bad, but they really don't like it when you don't tip in cash - even if you're tipping for seven people! The space is not posh, but also not dreary. It's clean and comfortable with two sofas and a lot of space. It's a bit tucked away towards the back of a shopping plaza so make sure you don't miss it! Parking lot makes parking a cinch. But while they were very efficient, they weren't very thorough. A couple of us left with ragged cuticles, a few toes had polish oozing over from the nail to the skin, and I, for one, had top coat that didn't line up with the edges of the nail, resulting in a jagged appearance. Maybe they're more careful/detail-oriented when they don't have to be a mani-pedi assembly line :P read more

I have such mixed feelings about this place. They were super nice and fitted me in when I didn't have an appointment. The guy who did the designs did a good job copying the picture I brought in. However, the girl who cut my cuticles destroyed them. Two of them were bleeding and hurt for days after wards. Once she finally noticed they were bleeding she put this green stuff on then and IT STUNG SO BAD! She also wasn't very careful afterwards even though she knew she had cut my cuticles. The girl who did my sister almost removed her design by trying to do an alcohol bath before applying the shellac top coat. In the end I was very disappointed and well, in pain. read more
