Great barbers, good environment, and a good time. You can bring your children and don't have to worry about anything inappropriate. Women are welcome and comfortable here. My wife comes with me often and she's always greeted and treated with respect. I've seen other reviews but i think some guys just don't understand barbershop etiquette. Basically, the best way to receive the most positive experience is to make an appointment. It's very simple and it's an agreement for both the client and the barber. If you make an appointment, be on time. If you show up and have to wait a few minutes, just remember that every client is different and require different service. Also, a barber wants to make sure the area is clean and his/her tools are prepared for the next client. Whenever an appointment cannot be made and you're a walk-in, please respect the people who made appointments. Walk in, greet the barbers, so that people know you are looking for service and not just waiting on someone else. Then simply ask if someone can get you in today. Be patient and wait. If I could leave zero stars I would. Told my husband to never come back here. Uncleanliness and very unprofessional. No accountability what so ever. My husband and I had a last minute trip so unfortunately he made the decision to go to this shop for a cut. Within 24 hours the back of his head RED And blotchy. Then it turned into a rash and then it turned into a bunch of pimples with whiteheads. He walked in there with no rash, no irritation, no pimples. I told him to call the shop and let them know because that is serious!!! People have diseases, people get cut sometimes during the hair cut process- flesh eating disease is real!! You can spread bacteria and (which is probably exactly what happened) spread diseases. Like this is serious! Grant it yeah it was just a rash (THANKFULLY) but still it should not have even been a rash! My husband gets haircuts often so NO it wasn't his skin being sensitive cause it's not. He said he called and let them know and their response was "my bad okay I'll let the barber know". If I was the manager/owner there I would've been worried and concerned and offered them their money back or a free hair cut to come back. I would have reached back out to make sure the rash and inflammation didn't get worse. They could've cared less. I hope nobody ever gets something serious from them. And no We were not looking for a free cut I was looking for professionalism and it don't exist here. It's not like my husband paid 10$ at a cheap place. I wouldn't recommend bringing ur kids here or going here not worth the risk of getting a rash or something more serious. This is a horrible establishment - if they had negative ratings I would give it. Popped in on Saturday in a rush to a wedding. Asked if they were an appt shop. Half barbers said no. Some said no but said they were booked. Sat with my nephew for half waiting to get called. 1.5 hour later 10 other patrons walked in and were called. Despite me asking what's the deal - all I got was we'll get to you. 2 hours in - nephew was called. Me no call-up. After he was done I just walked out. Looks like the only people can get service are Latinos. I thought we were all paying patrons. I get my hair cut along with my 2 sons and 2 nephews every 2 weeks. This place is right across from Jiffy Lube on Cermak and Clinton I think. Let's talk about why this place gets one star for a service I never received. I was referred to this place by one of the barbers. It starts with my giving the barbershop a call because I know Friday's are crazy most barbershops. I give them a call and ask about getting graphics, which they say they can do, "come on in, it's dead." So I drive from Bronzeville to Berwyn. I get there and I'm not greeted by anyone. They all look up and put their heads back down. I say "hello, (the barber) told me I could get graphics from some barber, he never said the name." The barber says it's only one person who does graphics and he needs to see if he's busy. He comes back and he is, tells me to come back tomorrow. I told him I called and was told to come in, I live across town and I'm not coming back. I'm so upset I wasted my time and energy going there. Not to mention when I first called, the phone was hung up while I was waiting for the barber I asked for to come to the phone. I had been bringing my son here to get his hair cut from Roy and he was very nice at first, he gave us his phone number so that we could text or call when we needed another haircut. In the beginning Roy would be glad to cut my son's hair but after a while he would leave my messages on seen or I would show up for the appointment and he wouldn't be there. I loved this barbershop and the energy of the place but this experience with this very unprofessional barber ruined Platinum fades for me. read more

Walked in and seen plenty of busy barbers, always a good sign. All of the barbers working acknowledged me when I walked in. (I take that in account in any business I walk into) I was greeted and my son was taken accordingly as there was almost a line forming at this point on a Sunday. When I walked in I was asked to put my name on the wait list and I was served in reasonable time. My fade is Always air tight and crisp. They make me look my best every time. I sometimes go to the Cicero location, not a great experience, the place looks very dirty. Sometimes you can see ants on the floor. Barbers are always eating food right in front of you. Chairs look very old and dirty. I would say out of the whole staff only two barbers actually know what they are doing. This is not a kid friendly location, barbers are always swearing and talking about drugs. Music playing in the background is pretty much about the same thing they are talking about it in the shop. Terrible customer service, most of these guys don't even have a license to cut hair. Sometimes they go outside and smoke weed and then come back and cut hair. Platinum Fades is an awesome barbershop men should go to. Today I went there to get a basic haircut and it was a pretty good experience. They ask you a lot of questions about what haircut you want so it's perfect and that you really like The shop has a very nice modern layout. This is for the location on Cermak in Berwyn, across from Jiffy Lube. Took my daughter for a lining with a barber she preferred, "J.R". He had lined her up once before and she loved it. Afterward her initial walk-in lining with J. R., we set the appt for a Sunday. We get there 10 mins early. He finished cutting 5 mins into our appt time, and he then tells us he has "one more" ahead of my daughter. I thought to myself, what is the point of an appt? But we patiently waited. He began lining her up an hour and a half AFTER our set appt. During which he briefly stopped to get himself a beer. I wasn't happy and also felt like he was overcharging her the $30 for a lining plus maintaining her undercut. We had another appt yesterday at 6:30PM. My daughter even confirmed with him the night before. We arrive 10 mins early again. His colleague advises us to give him a call because he hadn't seen him around. And of course, he didn't answer and didn't respond to my texts. Luckily, another barber was available for her. His services were only $18 compared to the $30 we had been charged twice before by J.R. Are the prices customized per barber and not consistent? I will not say this place as a whole is bad. They are always busy so I assume they have very good barbers. But the lack of professionalism that J.R. had is enough for me to never bring my business back here again. read more
