I have been to Brazil last September visiting my family and one of the places I need to highlight is Planeta Doce, which means "Planet Sweet" in Portuguese. What a wonderful place to find the best Brazilian popular sneaks in Praia Grande, a city in the southern coast of São Paulo.
To start with, cakes, cakes and cakes. All of them seems delicious. In an authentic Brazilian way of making sweet they use ingredients that are very popular in the country such as passion fruit, lemon, coconut. But chocolate cakes (of all types) are also popular in this "special" bakery. Brigadeiros, quindins, pão de mel ( honey bread) and other famous Brazlian sweets are being featured in this place with a bit of success.
Not just sweets but also other very popular savoury is the reason most of people visit Planeta Doce: coxinha. Reading: co-shi-na. If you don't know what a cozinha is, the best description is the one I got from wikipedia: chopped or shredded chicken meat, covered in dough, molded into a shape resembling a chicken leg, battered and fried.
Coxinhas are popular in Brazil, so popular that are used n some many jokes and also as an adjective to some kind of snobbish people. But this is another history.
We have coxinhas made with chicken filling, but at Planeta Doce the most popular flavour is the one with jerked beef. Yes, believe me, it works! And it's delicious.
I am not so keen on coxinhas but I had to try this one when I visited Planeta Doce. And I think you also should do it! To help you wash out all food you are going to consume there, a nice cup of coffee can be a good choice. It's not an expensive place and the service is very friendly at Planeta Doce.
There are tables inside and outside the place, but it's so popular that you won't find too much space to eat there. With some lucky, you can grab a table but if not, it's located just only 100 metres of the Forte beach, so you can also by some sneaks to make a civilised picnic in the beach. Don't forget to pick up your trash after eating. read more
