The machines here are great, and there are plenty of them! I feel really comfortable exercising here as an older person. There is a great mix of young and old, super-fit to ... my level of "still trying." Everyone is friendly, and the experience is encouraging. read more

Planet Fitness does not protect women. Men are allowed in the women's locker room and you are not allowed to complain. Apparently, if they like what they see, be careful walking out to your car according to someone who goes there. Hate this place. So dark and no place to stretch at all. The stretching room is also the room for classes, and for using the ropes. Dudes slamming large ropes to the floors while I struggle to find somewhere to lay down which is not on top of other people. These gym needs to be at least twice the size. I was given a tour of the facility by a white woman with blonde hair wearing glasses. Her name was Joey. She told me that stand up tanning bed was good for my skin and meant to heal skin ailments. Tanning beds are not good for your skin, I currently struggle with skin issues, had I listened to her I could have really hurt and damaged myself. I signed up for a Planet Fitness membership about two months ago. Since then, I have primarily gone to this location. The staff is very friendly and welcomes me every time I go in and tells me to have a good day whenever I leave. The facility is clean and never too crowded. They have a good variety of workout equipment, so it is easy to get some variety in your exercises. They also have tanning and massage beds, but I have not used either of those personally. I think the membership cost is a good deal for what you get! read more

The Finneytown club does not care about its members. Today is the third Sunday in a row that the club has not opened on time at 7:00 a.m. Members have complained about the worker that cannot make it to work on time. Today, when she arrived and opened the door at 7:10 a.m., her excuse was she lives far away. Seriously, did the location of the club move since she took the job? Is it acceptable for paying members to stand out in the cold or sit in their cars to keep warm with the motors running while we wait for the late worker to arrive? Gas is $3.75 a gallon. What will it take for the management of this club to improve? Invite your friends to come to the Finneytown club on Sundays because they won't need a membership. They can walk in with everyone else because no one scans in when the worker is late. read more

If you have an online training regime or are a traveler and looking g for a gym with consistently strong locations, you can't do much better than Planet Fitness. The Black card is great for those on the go. You can find a gym just about everywhere, most are open late or 24hrs, and-unlike the YMCA-you are going to find that each PF looks just like all the others. I don't know about classes or personal training, but this is the place for those who want to get in, lift, snag a cardio session, and get out. No pool, no afternoon basketball scrimmage, and the equipment is clean and plentiful. The staff has always been nice and I will keep coming back. read more

Not a bad gym overall. I visited this location as a black card member due to being unable to go to my regular gym today. If you're staying close by, then this would be a decent gym to stop at real quick. Here are my pros and cons: Pros: -- very clean (both the equipment and locker room) -- in a store front location near many restaurants and other stores -- had a wide variety of equipment Cons: -- very small: it was almost like everything was on top of whatever was next to it -- very busy: with it being so small it was like there were people on top of me -- had a limited number of specific types of machines (excluding treadmills, ellipticals, and the multi purpose corded weight machines) - this meant that I often did not get to use or had to wait a long time for the equipment I wanted to go to next -- it was very dark - it is already fairly dim outside due to it being really cloudy and stormy. However, it was darker inside, which was strange. Made it almost depressing. -- I also got some weird vibes from two employees and some of the other members. I'm giving it two stars because of how this location has rated compared to other PF locations I have visited. However, it isn't a bad gym - it's just not the best compared to other franchise locations. read more

Been working out at Planet Fitness for years, and it's safe to say these facilities do not disappoint in the slightest. The staff is very welcoming when I come in and also acknowledging when I leave. They are also always making sure the gym stays clean! The locker room always looks like it's been untouched for how often they are in there cleaning. Planet fitness is convenient and economical. At only 10 bucks a month, I can miss a couple days a week and still be ahead of the game. This is kind of a no-frills gym, but it's got everything I need for my workout. However, the personal trainer program is kind of a joke. Nothing against the trainer at this location (I won't mention is name...he's mostly a nice guy), but he's not very good with follow through. I joined with a friend and we immediately arranged a meeting with the trainer who at first seemed pretty professional. He asked all the right questions about what our goals were and we let him know our weakness and "handicaps". He showed us some of the equipment and then cut us loose while he prepared our "personalized plan" to be ready by the next day. We got no tour of the overall facility, though. Turns out he's not certified or anything. He's just a guy who works out there and got the job probably because he's friendly and personable. I don't know. Maybe he's related to the owner, also. The next day was our trainer's day off (no one told us), and our plan was not done. The following day, we arrived during his off hours and our plan was not done. The day after that he was there. We talked to him about the routines he set up for us, but he had not done them yet. We were a little annoyed, but ok, he said he'd put it together while we were on the treadmills and then would go over them with us. FINALLY. Unfortunately, when he showed us the plans he set up for us, it was like he'd never talked to us. There was no consideration for injuries or our individual goals discussed in our initial meeting. So, we took his plan and just adapted it for ourselves. Since then, it's been mostly enjoyable to work out at this Planet Fitness--it's clean and there's lots of equipment, so there's never any waiting. The locker room is a bit small and wide open, but it's always spotless and comfortable. The general layout of the lockers/bathroom/showers is a bit wonky, too. Lockers are separated from the showers by the restroom and the lavatories so that they are at opposite ends of the area. It would be nicer and more convenient for them to be adjacent to each other. But...Over all it's well worth $10 per month. read more

Let me start things off by saying I'm a big, fat fatty. And by that I mean I'm big, I'm fat, and I'm just a plain ole' fatty. I've been fighting to lose weight for a long time. Okay, maybe fight is a strong effort. I've wanted to lose weight and have made half-hearted efforts for a long time. That's more like it. While I haven't always had the best diet in the world, neither have I spent a great deal of time working out like I should. I would join a gym every once in a while, and would even go consistently for a few weeks; but sure enough I'd find some reason or another to stop going. The two biggest reason for that was cost (most gyms are stupid expensive to join) and the clientele. The majority of the gyms I would join were fill of meat heads who would work out religiously and would give anyone there even remotely out-of-shape these evil, intimating , "I'm-about-to-break-you-in-half-just-for-being -in-here" stares that I found quite disconcerting. So going to work out wasn't a very psychologically comfortable place. Then along comes Planet Fitness. For those of you not familiar with Planet Fitness, it's not just another gym. It specializes in being low-cost and catering to first-time and or occasional exercisers. In fact , they almost discourage hard-core body builders from joining, referring to them as lunks, and sounding alarms if people grunt too loud or bang the weights down. My wife was the one that found it actually. After joining and working out there a couple of days she told me to give it a look. I did, I joined, and I haven't been happier. First and foremost, Planet Fitness is cheap. They're always running specials. The one they were running when I I joined was an annual $30 membership fee, plus $10 a month. That's just $150 a year. You really can't beat a price like that. The equipment is all state of the art. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration as I honestly don't know what state of the art exercise equipment looks like. But they have every machine you could imagine needing. Each machine has graphics that explain to you how to properly use the machine, and even more importantly what core muscles are going to be exercised when you're using it. And if you don't like using machines, not to worry. They also have good-old-fashioned free weights that you work out with. There are two areas for circuit training and working your abs. I've tried both, and I actually enjoy the circuit training. You can have a lot of fun on that one. And I usually rotate between the sit-down bike and the treadmill. The only downside is the treadmills are in front of approximately a dozen TV screens, almost half of which always seem to playing some type of food/cooking show. Which makes me all super hungry when I'm done working out and makes me eat a bunch when I'm done working out which means I'll have to go back to Plant Fitness to work out more.....ooooh. I get it now. Now the wife and I have the basic membership. There's a Black Card membership you can join which gives you access to other services they provide (mainly tanning). But even if you're just a regular member, you can take advantage of their trainers. Just set up a time to meet with one of them (free of cost) and they'll put you on a plan that can work for you. They'll even go to the machines and help you through the first workout session. I used the trainer and he put together a really good program that's allowed me to lose roughly twenty pounds in just a month. The only real downside is the motif (kind of an industrial theme they have going...plus a lot of purple and yellow). Also they give out free pizza on the first Monday of every month. That's kind of counter-productive I think. But other than that, Planet Fitness really is a fine gym. You're not going to find another one with such high quality for such a low price. From its plethora of billboards, multiple locations, industrial interior appearance, and even bumper stickers on various vehicles, Planet Fitness can very easily be compared to Globo-Gym. Au contraire. The space in the Finneytown location is extremely large, making it very easy to get in a good workout regardless of the time of day. In the mornings, there aren't a ton of people there, and it is most crowded between 7 and 8:30pm. Even when it is at its most crowded, I don't think I've ever waited for a machine. Every cardio machine has its own TV, there are plenty of weight machines and free weights, and there is even a Curves-esque 30-minute station area to stray from the monotonous workout. Did I mention the membership is only $10* per month? Definitely unbeatable. I've yet to have any issues with the space and how it's run. I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a great, inexpensive fitness facility. *The standard membership -- which I have -- is $10 per month, but with an upgrade to the $20/month membership, there is also unlimited tanning, use of the water massage, and other perks, which is still less than most gyms. read more

I joined this gym in July. I went there once or twice and then landed a new job. I had to move far from this gym, so I went in and cancelled my membership. They waived my separation fee and I went on my way. This gym, however, continued to charge my bank account without my authorization. I went to the manager and wanted to have it corrected, but he could not because of franchise policies. I went to the franchise owner who would not do it either. The Franchise COO, a man named MIke, replied to my email instantly when I emailed about the refund. We had a back and forth where I consistently, and politely, asked for a refund of the erroneous charges. Mike continued to email me back well into the night, refusing to do so. In all, PF erroneously charged over $80 from me. I would not recommend this location to anyone, ever. I will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

This place is very crooked BUYER BEWARE!!!!! I was lured in by the cheap 10/month promotion so i signed up. I check my credit card and these CROOKS charged my credit card 31 for the gym membership for the month. They said our policy is if an ACH bank draft doesn't go through then they automatically bill the credit card you signed up with extra money. That is very BIZARRE considering EVERY OTHER ACH bank draft went through for my account during the time in question. When I called the CROOKED planet fitness representative to resolve the issue I mentioned that I could provide a letter from my bank showing that I had more than adequate funds in my account on any date in question. They told me our policy is we don't do refunds if the ACH bank draft doesn't go through. I was only asking for them to refund the amount they overcharged since the ALLEGED bank draft never occurred and to honor the agreed contract price. The funny thing is that i specifically took a void check up there when i signed up for a gym membership. Also when I asked for the contact information for the general manager to express my disgust with their deceptive business practices I was told "We don't give out contact information for the level of management. but I am welcome to send an email to a generic email address" Really??????? LMAO it isn't like I asked for their the personal email address. I requested the business email/phone number of the general manager for the gym to contact her and this was their response..... Most district/general managers would want to hear from the customers if something is going on and the information isn't hidden. If I walk into Walmart (which is a billion dollar multinational company) I get the store manager and district manager information posted on the wall if I have any issues, but these CROOKS won't even release this information. The things that make you say hmmmmmmm!!! It makes perfect sense why these CROOKS make you sign a contract and charge fees if you cancel the contract. With business practices as the ones mentioned above they swindle you out of your money either way. If they were a real business they would let their service speak for itself and not tie you up with a contract and cancellation fees because most people wouldn't cancel the membership if they were offering a good service with honorable business practices. I will also be contacting the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU on these CROOKS. So I recommend joining any other gym in the city besides these crooks. read more

First off ... What type of GYM has a pizza night !? I am pretty sure all locations do this , it is stupid. I spend all day avoiding foods like pizza....seems crazy to have it AT the gym ... I went during a peek time so I knew it would be busy .... What I didn't know is that it would be SO busy there would only be two empty machines (1 elliptical and 1 treadmill ) and they were empty because they were BROKEN. The broken machines had no signs so the people working out next to them had to keep telling people they were broken! I joined PF with the intention of this location being my "after work" location because I drive right past it.... I will now be going to the TriCounty location only even if it is out of my way on some days. This location is just not up to the standards I was expecting after working out in my "home" location. read more

I am a jock who was used to full service amenities and thought what can $10/month possibly get you. But PF is so close and has good hours. I miss a steam room, but the bottom line is I am shocked by how nice this place is. They are constantly cleaning the place, both the gym and the lockers are always spotless. There is a good amount of machines and weight stations. Plenty of treadmills. The staff are mostly young kids, and without exception have been friendly and welcoming. Big locker room, decent showers. Bring your own lock and you are set. I am not a 'needy' or high demand person, I am decent shape, know what I want and need, and like that I can walk in, say hi, get a workout in and leave. Absolutely an outstanding value in PF. They play some horrible music a little too loud, especially since 90% of the clients use headphones anyways (individual TVs on all cardio machines require you have them). And I personally would not go with the black / purple / yellow color scheme, but those are very minor complaints. This is a good functional clean gym with nice equipment at a very fair cost. Planet Fitness is a pretty decent gym. I'm not a fitness guru by any stretch of the imagination! I don't get to the gym nearly as much as I should but when I'm there I get what I need. I do mostly cardio and am happy with the machines (treadmill, elliptical, bike) they have. I enjoy the TVs at every cardio machine. They have phone chargers on the cardio machines but they're pretty outdated. All in all I get what I need from Planet Fitness. read more

I've heard mixed reviews on this place since I've joined this past summer. As a beginner in exercising, it works really well for me. However, if you're more experienced and into weight lifting/power lifting, then, from what I've heard, this is probably not the place for you. I got the more expensive membership, because I like the idea of being able to bring a guest for free, after all, who likes working out alone? However, I was looking forward to bringing my boyfriend, who's been saying he's been wanting to work out again, but after coming once, refuses to come back, since they don't allow deadlifts and the whole 'lunk alarm' thing. Now, I've never heard the lunk alarm go off, but I'm sure if I were doing weights and it went off on me, I'd feel pretty judged. :/ However, for a beginner who's more focused on cardio and/or weight loss, this seems like a great place. My one personal complaint is I wish they had scales (I've not seen any. If they do have them, where are they?) I know it's 'judgement free', but I don't own a scale, and would like to be able to know how I've improved. read more

Not as wonderful as some of the other locations, but definetely still a great gym to workout for the price :) I come to this location occasionally (I usually go to tri county), and I've never had a bad experience. I wish it was bigger because the machines fill up quickly and I wish there were signs on the broken machines, but other than it's still a great location to workout at and planet fitness is definetely worth the price:) love my gym!! read more

Planet Fitness is an all-around decent gym. For a new gym goer this is the place to start, but heavy lifters look elsewhere. This gym offers a variety of well maintained equipment and exercise stations. The locker rooms are clean and sharp looking. Cleanliness seems to be a big deal at this PF because it seems like they never stop sweeping or washing. Also, this PF has recently jumped on the wifi train, so wifi is available for customers. Downsides include a lack of heavy hitting machines and benches. Another problem is that the gym is constantly packed, as a result I have to go at midnight to be able to get on a machine. Also, free pizza, seriously? Overall, go if you want to get in shape, don't if you want to gain muscle mass. read more

We've been members of the Finneytown PF since it opened several years ago. Overall we are pleased as the facility is clean and the staff always friendly and informed. Our biggest complaint is the status of the TV's on the exercise equipment. Out of 8 Arc Trainers, at least 6 currently have broken TV's (no sound, frozen channel, no remote at all, no plug in port for head phones, no picture, etc). Most of these TV's have been broken for up to 1 year with no clear evidence of attempts to correct. Even the desk staff voice frustration that the problem is not being fixed by management. As there are about 60 treadmills, it would seen that parts could be taken from some of these to fix the few Arc Trainers, or better yet, hire a regular service person to routinely check and fix the machines/TV's. read more

Love Planet Fitness. From the price, to the cleanliness of the gym, to the availability equipment, it's all exactly what I wanted in a place to work out. This particular location just added some new equipment as well, which I think shows a lot about their dedication to their members. The 4 stars and not 5 is simply because trying to work out between the hours of M-F 5:30-8:00 has become increasingly more difficult as this location continues to grow in popularity but not in physical size. So often if I need to work out during those hours, I'll go to one of the newer locations that are physically more able to accommodate the large amount of people who attempt to work out during that time frame. The staff is always friendly though and although there are often a lot of cars in the parking lot, parking is still easily accessible. Will be a loyal member for long time to come. read more

When you first see the place, you'll be impressed. But looks can be deceiving, that's for sure. I wouldnt consider myself a bodybuilder. I was a serious athlete in high school, so i just consider myself a former athlete who lifts heavier weights than your average joe. The staff acts nice but the rules they enforce are complete bull. I dropped a weight from 6 inches above the ground and the worker tells me not to drop the weights as if i had broken a rule or something bad was going to happen if i wasnt more careful. What? Are they really that serious? Judgement free zone? Yeah right. Judgment free in the sense that anyone who doesn't know what they are doing would feel comfortable being there, but people who are at least semi-experienced lifters would feel out of place and targeted. It ain't worth it. Dumbbells only go up to 75 pounds, no barbells, no way. read more

The facility is pretty nice and the monthly price is right but they forget to mention their $50 start-up fee and their $80 (yes, EIGHTY DOLLAR) cancellation fee. Targeting people who don't have a lot of money with their "no contract" membership but making it basically impossible for people who can't afford it to cancel. claims to be open 24/7 but i went there at 6:30am and nobody was there, i waited 15 minutes and still no one was there.

I went to this planet fitness to join on last Friday around 6pm. The young ladies at the front desk has such attitudes. when I walked in I said hello and I was looking at all of the treadmills. then I noticed they never said hello back to me but they said goodbye to a young man that was leaving. so once I got to the front desk they just look at me as if what did I want . So I said I would like to join one of the ladies rattle off a price of 40 something dollars and that the charges were prorated. I can understand it being prorated but I ask her to let me know the breakdown of the charges. With the and attitude she told me the breakdown. I had checked the prices before I left my car on the Internet so I knew the special for one dollar was over. I still could not understand how she got $40 something dollars but I had had just enough of her attitude. So I told them I did not want to join any longer and left the building. But before I get to the door I had to let them know they had such bad attitudes. This was my first time ever stepping foot into a planet fitness gym. What a bad experience. Poor management. Judgement free...yeah right, they judge more than any other gym you will ever set foot in. You might feel more comfortable there because there are other people who are just starting out and aren't supermodels, but this place will find something to judge you for, whether it's a ball cap, a water bottle that is too big so it must be to "intimidate" the other members, or the tank top you're wearing because you get warm working out (male or female), lifting something that makes you look strong... uh oh don't do that they'll set off the alarm every 5 minutes and annoy everyone in the entire facility. Believe me or don't. My advice from hearing other peoples stories and reading reviews as well as personal experience, find another gym. Last but not least the financial hassle, they WILL cheat you out of your money and make you jump through hoops if you ever want to cancel your membership. Don't bother trying to pay for everything up front to avoid this, they won't let you. You could pass away and they would still be trying to take your money. read more
