We hired Derek Lloyd from South Sask to dig out around our foundation for waterproofing. Derek…read morestarted on June 22nd of 2019. He dug out the North wall and a portion of the East wall. He asked for half payment which we provided (our mistake). He was supposed to come back to dig out the West wall and a portion of the South wall but never did. Derek jerked us around for over a month until we finally had to hire someone else to finish the job. Derek also dug the North trench way too close to our neighbor's sidewalk and half of that trench caved in. New guy took one look at that trench and said "what the @$#@ was he thinking?! You NEVER dig that close to a sidewalk because they're all resting on sand". When Derek dug to the footing he only exposed the 2" of the footing face so I had to hand dig the rest to get the weeping tile below the top of footing. The other excavator's trenches exposed the entire face of the footing. The 2nd guys work put Derek's to shame. If you're digging a trout pond out in a field or putting in a culvert in the country maybe Derek's work would be OK but don't pay him until he is 100% done. If your work is in the city or close to a neighbor then definitely hire someone else. Personally I'd look elsewhere no matter what I was getting done. Nice guy but poor work and service.
