A few weeks ago, my husband and I had a Friday night dinner at Pizzeta Enoteca for the first time together. When I suggested it, he had no clue about where I was talking about. Both having grown up in the area, I figured that he had passed it numerous times but never went in - like I had - but I had to give directions when we drove there. We had a great time and a wonderful meal there. We were seated at one of the booths by the bar. He ordered Eggplant Parmesan. I ordered one of the entree specials that night - Roasted Porkchop with sweet sausage, potatoes, onions, vinegar peppers in a white wine reduction sauce. We both ordered the salad special of the day. The food was so good! We plan to come again for date nights and with friends. Loved this place! In addition to the delicious food and charming dining atmosphere, that night they played good music. I remember being really into the playlist that night - Cake's "Going the Distance", Sonic Youth's "Bull in the Heather", the Cranberries' "Dreams", the Cure's "Friday I'm in Love", Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, Tonight", Radiohead's "Lucky", Mazzy Star's "Fade into You"... Restaurant choices in Livingston can be spotty. Evidence of this is the longevity or lack thereof of many local eateries. Places that I thought were pretty damn good have gone out, replaced by places that may or may not be their equal. In this myriad of confusion is Pizzeta. The food and service are consistently good, even when there is a wait it moves quickly and they have a fireplace. Is Pizzeta, outstanding? No or I would have awarded them the coveted 5th Star. Would I travel a long distance to eat there? The answer again is no. But if you are looking to enjoy a nice meal in a nice restaurant, it may just be for you. Worth mentioning is their mozzarella selection. It's varied and outstanding. You can choose one of several varieties or order a mixed platter of them all. I eat at Pizzeta several times per month and truly enjoy it. A solid local favorite in a town that is missing a lot of solid local favorites. read more

For a relatively small place in Livingston they have surprising fair prices. We checked out Pizzeta for happy hour and tried some of the $5 small plates and beer specials. The pizza was the same as you find in an elementary school cafeteria but the meatballs were a good size and good quality. Overall I would recommend checking it out. Update: We gave it a try for late night drinks and were not impressed. The beers were fine but we had to send the margarita back, it was all lime juice. When the bartender brought a new one it was the same except more tequila. I think maybe the staff were young. read more

I would give 5 stars for food and ambiance alone. There portions are massive and the panini and pasta salad were to my liking. The service, on the other hand, was extremely slow and sporadic as it took forever to the waitress to refill water, and bring drinks. We have been eating here for years since moving to the area. There is such inconsistency in both the food and service so it makes reviewing the restaurant a bit tough. For a great take-out option, the large pizzas and salads made to order are great. They have a whole wheat crust option, lots of choice toppings, real mushrooms (a must if it a pizza place is worth any muster), and fast preparation from ordering to pick-up! Every now and then, the crust isn't quite as crispy but overall, a nice option for thin crust in the area. The chicken paillard and salmon with white beans and escarole are solid entree options. The dining in experience though really leaves you wondering. The pizza crust triangles in the bread basket are habitually cold and doughy. Service is spotty. Food is hit or miss and pizzas can only be ordered in personal pizzeta size at the table. The liquor license/full bar is a nice feature of this kid-friendly place so it caters to a wide variety of diners. Given the tabs for the food, though, we just prefer to take ours to go since there are other places around to dine out for better food and service. PS the whole wheat 1/2 melanzane 1/2 poggio ( grilled eggplant and mushroom) is by far our favorite pizza! read more

We usually come here at least every 4-5 weeks. This was one of the worst visits. Service was inexistent. Restaurant was almost empty as it was early (around 4:30pm). It took them more than 25 mins to come and take our order, after asking for it twice. Water came only 10mins later. Bread took another 10 and again, only after asking for it. They never came back with more water. We could see all waiters chatting around the bar altogether for the entire 1h15min we were there. My brother has several friends in the Livingston area and has visited Pizzeta many times. He had been raving to me about the delicious food for months, and since I trust his food opinions (I trained him well, after all!), I was psyched to finally sample it for myself. I accompanied his group of buds to the relaxed restaurant one evening and was a bit surprised by the decor. The building resembled a standard, suburban diner, but the interior had been completely renovated to resemble a fashionable, yet cozy space. They even had an upscale bar section that served fruit-filled sangria and martinis. The clientele appeared rather wealthy and upper-class, despite the reasonable prices. Though the pastas and pizzas sounded fabulous, I wanted to order something on the lighter side. I contemplated one of their interesting salads, but felt it would be a waste of a visit to such a great restaurant. Instead, one of my brother's friends suggested that we all share the enticing Chop Chop Salad. I ecstatically jumped at the opportunity, since this was the blend I was most leaning towards anyway. The massive bowl was lined with romaine lettuce and mixed greens, but full of Mediterranean toppings like garbanzo beans, kalamata olives, tomatoes, red onions, and carrots. Its light red wine vinaigrette added the perfect amount of seasoning to an already flavorful mixture. Since I was able to satisfy my salad craving, I decided to get a full-size entree for my main course. I guess I still somewhat copped out by ordering the Chicken Paillard, since the grilled meat was also served over arugula, plum tomatoes, and shaved pecorino romano, all drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette. The chicken had been pounded thin and was well-marinated, leaving it tender and moist. I sampled my brother's Whole Wheat Pasta Primavera, which was full of soft chicken and crisp garden vegetables. Its creamy vodka sauce was decadent and bold. I will admit that it was pretty difficult to steer my fork away from his plate. Pizzeta's food surpassed my expectations. The fact that its pleasurable environment was casual, yet stylish made it that much better. I look forward to a return visit. read more

We have been going here for years. We have always enjoyed the food and the quiet atmosphere when we have dined in. The staff has always provided kind and courteous service. The other night there was a mix-up with our order. Why the 5 star rating if there was a mixup? They acknowledged the error and bent over backwards to ensure the error was corrected and we were satisfied, offering multiple options in the process. My wife ordered the blackened chicken ceaser salad last week and asked me to pick it up on my way home from work. I was beyond disgusted to see what was going on in the kitchen - One of the cooks was preparing food for customers was eating a salad WITH HIS HANDS at the same time. Unfortunately for me, i didn't notice this until after I had paid. At that point I knew the food was going in the garbage and was so disgusted I just needed to get out of there. Overall a 1 due to the awful service we had with the manager on duty, but food only I'll give it a 3.5. I've been to Pizzetta 3 times, but the third was the last. The manager on duty during our last visit could not have been any more obnoxious and rude. There was a price mis-print on one of the menus and he more or less mocked us for assuming the price was correct when we received our check. He unwillingly honored the mis-printed price and then docked pay from the poor server (we saw him walk over to her and say it loud enough for half the restaurant to hear). We gave her a very large tip to make up for it and then some. Suffice it to say I have never experienced such unprofessional behavior by a restaurant manager. Simply mind boggling. If I was the owner and knew my management was acting this way I would be fuming. No rhyme or reason here and I hope the owner reads this. The way you treat your customers has a ripple effect larger than you can imagine. If it weren't for that one incident, we would be regulars, but oh well. Used to come here all the time when I worked in the area. Food was always good and the service is decent. I was in Livingston for an errand last night and decided to stop in for dinner since I was with a friend who is gluten free and I recalled Pizzeta having a generous GF menu. I used to always order the vegetariana panini because it's made with their basil mayo which is AMAZING. I'd literally dip anything into that stuff, it's so good. However, I was also craving pizza so I did what any logical food lover would do: I ordered the melanzane pizza for dinner and a vegetariana panini to go so I could eat it for lunch the following day (of course, I asked for an extra side of basil mayo for French fry dipping). The pizza was delicious. Probably could've been slightly crispier in the crust but the toppings and flavors were on point. My friend ordered the ziti pizza which they made with gluten free penne and crust. She was also very happy with her pizza, but agreed the crust could've been crispier. I ate my panini at work today and I'm happy to report, it's just as good as it was a few years ago. If only they would bottle and sell that basil mayo! A girl can dream.. read more

Wow, this place has really declined since I was last there a couple of years ago. The room needs a refresh. It is looking quite tired. The service was rather uninterested in your dining experience. The food was entirely uninspired. We shared the rice ball (arancini) and the Caesar salad to start. The rice ball here used to be fluffy and wonderful, in a beautifully vibrant marinara sauce. This latest visit had us share a leaden, gigantic and rather mediocre tasting version in a sauce that I did not want more of. The Caesar salad had no life to it. It was almost like eating romaine lettuce with no dressing. Yuck. One of us had the buffalo chicken pizza, which used to be far better. I had a special of farfalle with shrimp, chicken sausage, asparagus and peas in a garlic and oil sauce. It should have been far tastier than it actually was, and the shrimp were overlooked. Our server also took his sweet old time processing my credit card payment. We will not return any time soon. Sad that places go downhill like this. read more

Also Is this dump a singles bar or a restaurant? they play this horrible loud music all the time. I like this place. It has great mini (big enough for two!) pizzas, a full bar, and a variety of entrees and salads. They offer a lot of variations of pizza, like cheese steak or shrimp and they offer wheat varieties. They're salads are some of the tastiest I've had and the portions are huge. Their menu has a lot to offer. The atmosphere is nice - a mix of a casual and classy in the dining room and bar and the prices are pretty cheap. Plain cheese pizza was very good... very cheesy with a thin crust. We went around 1pm on a Saturday and it was empty. We had a nice comfortable table for 5.. they filled our water right away, however they were not attentive when it came to refilling. We had to ask when our meals came, and I could have used another refill but he never came back to ask. Detoured in Livingston. Some crazy accident on the I-280 East and the Trooper told me 3-4 hours to clear ... so much traffic! Trying to find an alternate route and discovered Pizzeta! Enjoyed the Di Casa insalata and my special request for Linguini pasta with a spicy red sauce and steamed vegetables! Added a tad more crushed red pepper ... delicious! I've been here a few times, and I'm suprisingly impressed with every visit! The bar is really nice for starters - and very reasonably priced. I don't drink much, so I can't speak for the quality of the beverages, but I did have a nice sangria, and my husband's microbrew beer was only $4. As far as food, it's always good and always hot. Portions are big...and yet, I usually finish my dinner! My favorite entree so far has been the Cavatelli and Broccoli, which I've gotten with whole wheat pasta. The texture is excellent, and the fresh cherry tomatoes are a nice touch. The salads are also fantastic. The service is probably the only thing I'm not totally impressed with. The wait staff is friendly and makes every effort to be attentive, but they're not the experienced pros a busy place like this should be hiring. Case in point: our waiter last night brought the parmesan and pepper for my pasta five minutes after it had been served. He was super-nice about it, but it was half-gone by then! Also be aware that this place gets loud, it gets crowded, and people bring their kids. So...not great for an intimate dinner for two. I have only had the buffalo chicken pizza but oh my the beautiful thing that man can create. Whoever makes this pizza doesn't just throw toppings around but places it accordingly.
