This spot is one of my new favorites in Augusta. Anyone else have the hardest time finding a place for just one slice of good pizza that isn't Sams Club or Costco? No hate to them, but this place is far superior. For $4 you can get a HUGE slice of pizza from their specialty list. I believe it's $3 for one that you build yourself. A friend of mine got a small whole pizza, and for $11, it was maybe the size of 2 single pieces. Maybe. Their garlic bread is to die for as well. Absolutely horrible experience at the Downtown location. Arrived at 5pm on a Sunday and it took over an hour for the appetizer to arrive. We ended up having to get the pizza to go as we had our child with us and it did not arrive until after 6:30. Staff was not apologetic and avoided our table. Once we got the pizza home, it had no flavor and didn't even resemble the pizza we normally order. As someone who grew up going to pizza joint, I am extremely disappointed. read more

Had a great experience at the Pizza Joint today. Pretty good draft beer list. Had a delicious can of beer called River Rat. Our server, Abigail, was super friendly and attentive. The Detroit style pizza was my favorite. Sauce was tangy and slightly sweet. The herbed ricotta was amazing. The crust was cooked perfectly. The veggie calzone with chicken was delicious! The regular pizza was pretty good, no problems with it. We felt it just wasn't as good as the Detroit or calzone. Don't let the negative reviews steer you away, it is worth a shot. read more

Best pizza I have ever had in Augusta. It was my first trip to Augusta and I choose this pizza place because it was located right across from the hotel I was staying in and it was raining pretty hard outside. I would say the pizza is the cheapest one but it's reasonable in price and the restaurant had a few special drinks going on so I had a drink while waiting. I took my pizza to go so I can't say much more than the bartender that helped me was super friendly and it's definitely a local pizza joint with a ton of local coming in with an NFL game was on. The pizza was a large size which is quite large and tasted great. I will definitely be returning when back in Augusta in the future. read more

I just wanted a slice of pepperoni pizza nothing more nothing less. Not only did I get a generous slice of pizza and a cola, but the dear songs of my 90s childhood played at a low background to boot. I had not been to this location for several years, but necessity led me there yesterday evening. I ordered a beer and a slice - normal fare for a supposed New York style pizza place. That may have been the worst slice of pizza I have ever eaten. It had obviously been under a heat lamp or something for a long time, and then it seemed like they put it on the grill or something to finish heating it back up. I don't know what they did, but it was crispy to the point of being brittle and unnaturally hot like you get with microwaved food. ok, so our group has written off PJ Downtown Augusta. Pizza came out with nonmelted cheese, salad with chicken came out with maybe a tablespoon of chicken and the lettuce barely filled the small bowl. When I asked the waitress about it she stated that she asked the manager if this should go out and he said to her that it was correct. Well after last night they have lost a part of 7 who has been there for the last 4 years. If the owners do not correct the issues with this location why keep it open? Our server was really nice HOWEVER the food..... my girlfriend and I order garlic knots and a pizza. When we arrived at the hotel, we were surprised to see that the garlic knot had in fact ZERO garlic in it. It was tasteless white dough. The pizza was dripping with tomato juice or something similar. So when it comes to pizza, I am a pretty simple individual. Here is my thinking on this staple of American fare from last night. Pizza only need four components. 1. Dough 2. Sauce 3. Cheese 4. Protein If you change any single one of these components, you run the risk of massively changing the completed product. Last night I stopped in for the ubiquitous yet always satisfying pepperoni pizza. Much to my surprise the style of pepperoni had been changed. No longer were the larger thin pepperoni's there, but instead a small diameter, thicker version of this staple pizza protein. On a completely individual preference I was disappointed. 1. Because I was in the mood for a comfort food version of the pizza I had many times here at the Joint. And 2. The meat was not to my preference. The moral of the story in my book, is stay with what got you to where you are. Change 25% of something and you run the risk of not making the regulars feel like they know what to expect. This was my second trip to this location. It's pretty gross inside - everything just looks sticky and disgusting, and the outside isn't much better. This establishment is pet-friendly, which is fine and great, but it's ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING that waitresses are coming out checking on guests and then petting the animals... THEN going right back in to grab more people's food and such and bring it right back out... Like..... I KNOW you didn't wash your hands in that 30 seconds.... GROSS. The pizza was alright - both of my slices seemed fresh and were exactly what I asked for, so that was nice. One of my slices didn't have sauce...watched several tables sat after us orders come through and our waitress would walk past us after delivering them and not check in or let us know outs hadn't been forgotten (it was). Other tables were finished and paid before we got our slices that they forgot. After us bringing it to their attention, because apparently us just sitting there getting a few refills (not from our waitress) we didn't get our full order if slices and it was never offered to be taken off the bill.....but rather 'ill re-enter the missing slices and they'll be right out'. read more

We were starving and happen to notice this nice looking place. We were a group of 8. As we walked into the premises we noticed an unhappy employee, a table of more than 6 siting outside (Remember this, it is important) We walked and waited to be seated. The manager I think it was informs us that we can't have more than 6 at a table. Understandable considering COVID. So we said let's split our group in two, 6 and 2. 2 at the bar and the rest at a table. She informed us we could not do that. Ok? So split the group in two groups of 4. We were polite and just starving. She explained to us that we could not order food together. We replied that we were going to do separate checks either way. We said that we don't care or mind about anything. We just simply would like to sit and eat. We don't mind the wait. She told us she was uncomfortable with serving us because of that conversation. Just because we did not mind the extra wait and such. She was rude and weird about it. We left and will not give our money to a company that is so unaccommodating and rude. Have frequented this and the Evans location for years. We have come to expect slow service because the quality of the food typically makes up for it. Yesterday was a disaster. We had a table of 6 around 3:30 pm. Here is a list of the issues we faced: - food took an extremely long time to arrive. - appetizer (wings and salad) came after the first slice arrived. This was attributed to the wings be well done. I can accept that but was the salad well done also? - we asked for slices of taco pizza. This is not a regular menu item but if they have the ingredients they will make it. First slices came out wrong. Very wrong. Just taco sauce cheese and jalapeños. The server said she would have them remade. The ones that came out were wrong also. - other slices received at the table were undercooked. - they brought us the wrong size beers. We are beer club and were shorted on what we should have receive. The server said they would just bring us another to make up for it when we wanted one. They did this but when we received the bill she charged us for what we were told was comped. When asked she said there was nothing we could do. This was just about the worst experience we have had there. It's unbelievable how poor the quality and the service have gotten here. We would be considered regulars but it may be time to find a new place. read more

Disclaimer: I have frequented this establishment several times over. It was my main lunch spot with friends during college. When I went there, I was always greeted by smiling faces and excellent service. This changed today. Now, for some background. I used to be a server, so service - specifically 'customer service' - is something I'm always judging. The server I got today - Madison - does not appear to have been trained on customer service. Her demeanor was gruff, disinterested, and - quite honestly - rude. When my mother asked what salad dressings they had, she rattled them off with a visible eye roll, as if my mother was "putting her out." There were several times when - after she had finished attending another table in her section - I would try to get her attention to ask about when our food would be ready, since my mother and I both needed to return to work. These attempts to get her attention were blatantly ignored, despite having made eye contact with her. When I was ready to pay my check, I lifted my credit card and bill up to try to get her attention. She AGAIN ignored me, despite making eye contact, and proceeded to bus a table in her section. There was not another party waiting to be seated, so bussing could have waited until after attending to our checks. When she FINALLY came back to our table to cash us out, she asked my mother if she wanted change, as she was paying in cash. My mother answered, "Yes, but for your tip. I want to add to it." Madison, visibly exasperated, looked at my mother like she was an idiot, and in a very rude tone repeated herself, "Do you want change?" I used to really love this place, but if Madison's service is any indication of the service provided by the rest of the staff, management sorely needs to look into this and make improvements. read more

Came for trivia. The server was beyond frustrating. Food was good but it didn't really matter because it was brought out one item at a time and we had to remind the server each time what we had. Literally each time, we had to say, "oh what about this and then what about that". Ended up going to the bar to retrieve a drink menu, napkins, red pepper and drinks after asking numerous times. We came here and got a few things. Before I get to the food, I have to say that the service seemed a little slow, as in the food took a while to come out. However, the food definitely made up for it. At the time, they had a dessert version of their dough balls appetizer, which were basically like little cinnamon and sugar balls. They were amazing, and filling. As for the entrees, I had the baked potato pizza, and my wife had one of the salads. Both of our dishes were tasty, and let me tell you, that baked potato pizza was goooooood. So many carbs, so little cares because it was delicious and the slices are big. I'd highly recommend coming here, maybe on a weekday.
