DANGEROUS EMPLOYEES! MAY TAMPER WITH FOOD I had a very…read moredisturbing experience at this establishment. When I walked in, I was ignored for several minutes by employees who appeared uninterested in helping customers. Eventually, one employee (dude with dreads) came over and took my order, but his attitude was extremely rude, dark, and dismissive. I am typically a generous tipper, but due to his behavior, I chose not to leave a tip. After this, he went into the kitchen area where I observed him whispering and laughing with another employee while looking in my direction. Based on what I saw, I became concerned that my food may have been tampered with, which is completely unacceptable and a serious matter. Feeling uncomfortable and unsafe, I requested a refund. The manager processed it, but also did so with a poor attitude. During this interaction, the employee continued staring at me in an extremely intimidating way. Because of this experience, I will not be returning. This is one of many poor experiences I've had at this location. The overall atmosphere and customer service here is deeply unprofessional and unsettling! I would rate zero stars if that were an option.

You've got to have a lot of confidence in your chicken and ribs to put them right in the name, and…read moreat this place that confidence is earned. I came in for an early dinner and was seated promptly. The dining room is like a mix of an old school local restaurant and what the fellowship hall in the church I grew up in looked like. Specific reference, but that is to say that it's not modern or instagrammable or anything but that's kind of the point. It's comfy. Their menu is concise so it's not too hard to figure out what you want. Probably not the best place to bring a vegetarian. I was super hungry after a full afternoon of walking across town and through City Park so I went for the 1/4 chicken and rib combo plate. You can choose which chicken parts you want (I'm a dark meat person) and your sides. I went with the cole slaw and the green beans. The chicken is fried to order, but even so I feel like the food came out quickly, probably in ten minutes or so. And piping hot, too. The chicken was perfectly fried, seasoned, and so juicy. The ribs fell off the bone, and I barely even needed to use my teeth at all. Cole slaw is pretty standard. Green beans are stewed super soft but so long as you don't hate a soft green bean they are really good...like, weirdly flavorful for a side of green beans. I generally prefer an al dente green bean but I still enjoyed them. You had better come hungry like I did or prepare to bring some home with you. I had really good service here, even though it seemed like the guy was on his own for the dining room and takeout orders which is a lot. He was really warm and friendly with everyone in the dining room and super prompt with everything. I only wish they gave out wet wipes for people having ribs or fried chicken! This is the kind of place that if I lived here I'd be visiting regularly, and it seems like people do. While I was there I noticed that a few tables were, indeed, regulars. Yes, the word Dixie is reminiscent of the confederacy and slavery, and honestly the restaurant could consider a renaming. However, I did see people of all races being treated well in this restaurant, so do with that what you will. Overall, really good food for good value, and great service. Worth a visit!

If you are reading this, which of course I know you are, BE PREPARED FOR A LONG WAIT! If you read…read morethe whole review I'll give you the best tip on how to skip the line (insert shushing emoji) and don't cheat by skipping to the end! Hands down, the best po'boys in all of NOLA. Everything is made from scratch (except the bread, which they source locally), and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorites are the Surf & Turf and the James Brown. The Surf & Turf gives you get the best of both worlds (shout out to Hannah Montana). Look it up kids. You get the slow-cooked roast beef with gravy plus fresh Gulf shrimp. Shut the front door! The James Brown is just as incredible: juicy BBQ beef, pepper jack cheese, fried shrimp, and a hot sauce mayo. Bring napkins - you'll need them. Pro tip: go with a group and order a few different po'boys to share. You'll want to try everything. You made it to the end, so here we go. I feel like gate keeping (look it up old-timers), but I'm going to be generous because I love y'all. In order to skip the line, go to the bar area and find a high top or seat at the bar. A seat always opens up quickly. It never fails. You can order from the bartender and the service is top notch. Cheers y'all!

Parkway Bakery & Tavern -- 4…read more Okay... let's start with the bread, because baby in New Orleans that's where it's won or lost. And THIS bread? Yeah... they did that. Soft, fresh, easy bite. Not that hard French bread that have you pulling and pulling like you in a workout and your jaw about to lock up. As a born and raised New Orleans girl, I'm real particular about my French bread because the bread will make or break your sandwich. I don't know if they bake it in-house or source it, but whatever they doing... keep doing it. Now before I even got the food, let me talk about ordering because that was a little journey. I ordered online and initially had some issues. I actually had to go through Google and search to even find the right website. It wasn't super easy to register or navigate at first, but once I got to the correct site, it was smooth sailing from there. I placed my order, got a time window, and they gave very clear, precise directions on what to do when I pulled up. Now pulling up, I did have to go around the corner to get into the drive-thru situation, but when I tell you... they have a SYSTEM. Very organized. Cars lined up, steady flow, and it looked like business was booming. There's artwork outside, multiple stations, and everything just felt like it ran with purpose. I walked up to the first booth, told the man my name, and he already knew my food was ready. Directed me to pull up to the red light where pickup was, no confusion, no chaos. They don't play. They stand on business and I respect that. Now the food... The shrimp were nicely fried, good size too. Not them little tiny ones where you gotta search through the sandwich just to find one. Every bite had shrimp, evenly distributed, and seasoned well. That's how it's supposed to be. The sauce was good too. It had that New Orleans style BBQ feel to it, kind of like a BBQ shrimp sauce. Messy in a good way. Now the roast beef... Flavor was there, but texture-wise it leaned a little dry for me. It wasn't juicy like I expected. It did say it comes with pepper jack, but I didn't really catch that flavor. Granted, I did add onions and mustard, so that could've played a part. Overall though, it's still worth trying again. Next time I'm probably going to order it as-is, no changes, just to really get the full experience the way they intended. But yeah... Parkway definitely earned a spin back.

The inside was pretty standard and neat, but there are multiple touch screen kiosks where you can place your order which I found really convenient. Service was also okay, but just standard. For our meal, we got their Big Shack Burger ($11.99), Parmesan Garlic Fries ($4.99), & Large Pomegranate Sweet Basil Lemonade ($4.99). Everything was delicious! You could tell the burger was made fresh compare to McDonalds or Burger King. The Parmesan covered fries dipped in their garlic sauce added some rich flavor to the fries. The pomegranate lemonade was not overly sweet and had a sour pomegranate taste to it which I really liked. Even though our meal tasted great, the sizing of the food was really small. In contrast to the drinks, the burgers and fries came in one size. We felt like it should've been bigger for the pricing of everything. Overall, a bit overpriced but still a pretty good burger chain in the Metairie area.

As they grew, they expanded their menu. One of the many reasons to go here is to taste they're made fresh to order food. Vast expansive menu. Especially to note they added doggie treats and ice cream. So I assume pets are welcome? Be sure to keep them leashed and mindful of your surroundings. For your information. You will love them cause they are one of few fast casual restaurants that caters towards your allergies and dietary needs. They have few spots in the Crescent City. We just happen to be in Metairie location. This particular location is a little different and easier to get to. Besides the traffic. They cannot control. I like this location better since the parking lot is right next to it. Unlike other locations. Tend to be a bit of walk from the parking lot to the restaurant. This happens to be right next to it. This has an outdoor seating. Cannot say much of the view but it is very nice and enjoyable. Definitely recommend it as long as weather permits. It is semi shady and with ceiling fans and few plants to make it more comfortable. As we walked in they have a large lobby/dinning area. They have several small ordering tablets on the side for people to order. They do not accept cash at time I believe? (Card only) We started out with: The Big Shack - Two quarter-pound*, 100% Angus beef patties made to order, topped with secret sauce, green leaf lettuce, American cheese, pickles, tomatoes, and onions on a three-layer toasted potato bun. ShackBurger - angus beef cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun. Chicken Shack -Antibiotic-free, hand-breaded, white-meat chicken breast over lettuce, pickles, and buttermilk herb mayo on a toasted potato bun. Parmesan Garlic Fries -Crispy crinkle cuts dusted with parmesan cheese served with a side of roasted garlic parmesan aioli. Onion Rings - Crispy beer-battered onion rings made from sliced sweet Spanish onions served with your choice of sauce. Fries Crispy crinkle cut fries We washed it down with: Cookies and Cream Shake - chocolate cookie crumbles hand spun with our house-made vanilla frozen custard. Pomegranate Sweet Basil Lemonade - Pomegranate, basil, and lemongrass mixed with our Shack-made lemonade. Mango Passionate - Mango and passion fruit puree mixed with our Shack-made lemonade. All was made fresh to order. When you order. Grab a table number. They will make fresh to order and bring it to your table by the number. For your information they have plenty of tables. Be cautious about where you sit. It is a bit chilly inside due to it is open kitchen. Especially cold if you sit and the vent happens to above you. We ended moving to another booth. we did not sit under the vent. They have plenty of tables and booths inside. And several tables outside too. All are hard wood seats with no padding as far as I know. No drive-thru at this time. Why would you want fresh food in hurry. In my opinion. If you are in the mood for a fast casual meal. They definitely have your stomach in mind and calm down your hunger. We were so satisfied and the food is delicious! Especially how fresh and made to order. A little bit of a wait. Well worth it! In my opinion. Give them a try and see for yourself. I enjoyed it and I know you will too. They do have free WiFi as far as I know for customers.
