Friendly staff, clean premises, plenty of discount vouchers available. Oh, and awesome pizza! Limited parking spaces are available right outside and the business is on a quieter road than the high street which makes collection by car easy. read more

If you didn't take up the offer then you could simply use your points to but whatever eg food and drink as well On top of which you have to queue up to get all these coupons in various values from Customer Services - and having done so, at check out, the person on the till has to feed each one in....BUT it will only accept so many, so they then have to tap in the number of each one individually...meanwhile you stand there and the queue behind gets longer by the minute Very inefficient process, clearly not thought through - though the staff all told me it was simpler this year...

I had to add hiSbe to Yelp! because I am such a fan and I really hope other people discover this…read moresupermarket. Unlike other nearby cooperatives and health food stores, I feel hiSbe's ethical mission is different -- not just to offer foods that are good for people and produced ethically and sustainably, but also to offer them at a fair price! Their atmosphere is also totally different, like the board on which you can write product suggestions that you hope they'd consider carrying, or just little comments about what you loved in the store that day. I especially like how much they emphasize local produce -- I go there first before checking any other supermarkets to see if any of the ingredients I need for the day can be sourced locally. This also means they carry a lot of local brands of packaged goods (Sussex Gold for example) that can't be found in supermarkets. They also have fair trade bananas, and a sign explaining their choice which I found very informative. If you love buying bulk goods like I do, but don't want to support certain other stores in Brighton that have them but are politically contentious, hiSbe should be your go-to! They have bulk pastas and grains (including short grain brown rice), bulk oatmeal and museli base, bulk chocolate buttons, and bulk nuts available. Unfortunately no bulk seasonings and very few bulk legumes. They also have a coffee shop inside which has ethical coffee options and also a vegan chocolate beet cake that calls my name every day but I've managed to resist so far. Anyway, it's easily my favourite supermarket in Brighton and I want them to stick around for a long time, so I hope you'll give them a try!

Staff are always friendly and the food is ready on time. I've tried and tested nearly all the Indian takeaways in the local area and the Spice Box comes out top in my opinion for overall service, food quality and quantity. My only real criticism would be that the chicken can sometimes be a little too soft as if it's been "plumped up" with water and the naan breads are occasionally doughy, but this is being really picky and doesn't happen often.

Mmmmmmmm pizza slice joint that may now be my fave pizza place at the mo. £2.50 for a big slice…read moreplus we got a free slice as it was happy hour. Reminds me of American pizza slices, really big yet thin with really flavoursome toppings (we had a meat one) and minimal crust which is just the way I like them. You can also order whole pizzas, the largest of which is massive. They also have a small outside space to sit if the weather is nice. Great little local haunt (located at the bottom of elm grove). Check it out! Update: you can buy a slice in there and donate it to people who can't afford one for just £2.50. Really nice idea (nicked from a NY pizza joint I think). I like them all the more. Situated opposite Waitrose on Western Road, this is an interesting supermarket, focusing on Asian…read morecuisine, with the emphasis on natural, organic and fairly-traded produce. The array of exotic fresh herbs and spices is impressive, but they also do a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables and dairy products, which are as locally sourced as possible. They also have an extensive range of special diet products - for example, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian products, and organic baby food. Prices vary hugely, though: pittas are very good value, for example, but some other items are more expensive. But with such a wide range it is unlikely you won't be able to find what you want. The main downer - as others have said - is the staff, who vary from friendly to downright dismissive. The other particular gripe is the awkward queuing system, that means that on every visit, someone who has arrived later has ended up getting served before me.

Their produce is still great but their current customer service gets a definite thumbs down from me. In the summer, the outside seating is really lovely, and the surrounding rose garden provides a pretty view. The location means that the Rotunda is heavily frequented by mothers with small children as well as elderly people. It's not the most exciting of cafes, but it does exactly what it should.
