Borge Restaurant - Food was sub par, cutlery was disgusting.

No check backs, no extra drinks checks, incredibly poor service. In fact the layout adds to the poor service as the tables are all round and shoved together and there's barely any room to move between them. The waitresses were leaning over the table to hand out plates. The worst service came at the end of the meal. We asked for the bill, it wasn't brought over, we weren't allowed a split bill. They refused to work out individual tabs, we had to work the out for ourselves. Then they refused to take cash, anyone paying in cash was made to go sit down even if they had the exact change. Ridiculous.

Not sure what all the negativity is all about but I found the food here to be great. My wife and I…read morewere here on a trip and it was recommended to try this place. I had the chicken parmesan and my wife had the Borge special pizza. She's not a pizza person but loved the thin crispy crust add well as the abundance of toppings. She devoured the pizza and I ate every last bite of the parmesan (gym time!). The parmesan has apparently won several awards, I can definitely see why. While it was my first one every it was rich without being sloppy and the meat was tender and drowned out by the cheese sauce.

My starter of Mussels in Spicy Tomato sauce was lush with just the right ratio of onions to spice and a really good portion of Mussels. Main course size, in fact. My main of stuffed Rabbit saddle, Wood Pigeon breast & Italian sausage on Polenta & gravy was cooked to perfection, really nice with good, strong flavours. And once again a really decent helping. The espresso & Amaretto topped ice cream was a great finish too. Our waitress (the owner, I think) was a mature, welcoming lady who was nice to speak with and knowledgeable about the menu. We used our Hi-ife card and would return anytime we're up that way. Bob On!

Although the inside of the building is not the classiest or even most chic decorated I have ever seen there is still a nice feeling of a warming atmosphere. We wee seated almost immediately and out drinks arrive several minutes after, at times it does get quite busy so if you are in a party I would strongly recommend booking a table otherwise you might be stood waiting for a while. Many other restaurants that I have been to don't offer authentic Italian food, I ordered the lasagne and I absolutely loved it and if I go again I'm certain this is what I will order. Surprisingly the food is quite reasonably priced. Definitely another one to visit

There was a varied menu of pasta, pizza and meat dishes which were decently priced as they have many special money off offers. It is not a formal place so people weren't dressed up but great for a casual, fun meal. The staff were young but attentive and got everything right. Bar prices were a little steep but that is to be expected now in all resturants. We only went as our first choice was full and as we drove past we saw that there were empty spaces in the resturant. but I shall be going again.

Lots of offers, like a quid off starters and money off chicken and pasta dishes, makes it worth a visit. The service can be a bit over attentive, but the young staff respond well to a light-hearted go away with big smiles. Pretty sure this is a franchise type place, there's one in Middlesbrough and Darlington which are very similar. My daughter loves the cocktails, and won't leave until we treat her to a Cosmopolitan, bar prices are as ridiculous as restaurant prices always are these days, but no worse. Have not tried anything we did not like, and the chicken with goats cheese is one of our Donnas all time favourites ( I love the Duck)

They were full but managed to reserve us a table at 8.30. Arriving a little early, the weather was slightly inclement (OK it was peeing down), we were guided to the bar for a pre-dinner drink. I now realise why Northerners complain about London prices. A double Grey Goose vodka for £4.50, a no brainer. At 8.30 exactly, our table was ready. Fantastic menu, delicious food and impeccable service. To start I ordered antipasto for one. This plateful arrived. The waitress explained that this was for one, with a smile. Obviously, the kitchen had made a mistake and plated up for two. One the final bill, antipasto for one. I cannot recommend this restaurant any more, almost a five star in my opinion. Only drawback was the final coffee was very bitter. However, a minor drawback. Great Italian atmosphere, noisy but welcoming.
