This place has such a lovely atmosphere and I love coming here! They've got a beautiful collection of taxidermy and lots of art and lots of cute tchotchkes for sale. I've gotten three tattoos here so far and I can't wait to return. My first was on 6/13 and I got a little hammerhead shark from Ricky from their Friday the 13th flash sheet. Next I booked with Ricky and had them rework a chair tattoo a friend did a few years back. They really fixed it up and I love getting to wear it everyday! A couple weeks ago I saw Bowie and got a cute lil ladybug from his flash and I have plans to get a custom from him soon. I hope to get something from every artist here at some point! read more

Took my 7 year old kiddo into Pixley's to get her ears pierced. Kyra was in the shop (IG: @luciddreamzzzpiercing) and she did a fabulous job with the piercing. It is hard to find a tattoo shop that is insured and certified to pierce kids ears the traditional way (vs. the piercing gun at Claires) so I was so happy to support Pixley's! The shop is so fun and quirky and brightly colored, I loved it and so did my kid. Kyra was so patient with her, explaining everything in detail, being kind but firm with boundaries surrounding safety, and even provided fidgets to keep little hands busy during the whole thing. She also was a perfectionist about centering the placement for the jewelry and it really quelled my own anxiety about "getting it right" on my kid since she is only 7 and just excited to get it done! One tip, bring cash! But if you forget you can pop over to the ATM at the gas station easy peasy! I left a google review on this shop a year ago when I originally got my tattoo done. I didn't name the artist but I should have because she should not be tattooing anyone after what she did to me. Shyla completely ruined my thigh, she butchered my tattoo and there's nothing I can do about it. She went so painfully deep that I can't have it lasered off to have it redone by a better, more competent artist. I am so embarrassed by this awful tattoo. I've been to one artist to see if they could help me fix it because I want the same tattoo. He was shocked by how awful it was. He truly had no idea what to do about it and I haven't been back to see anyone else about a coverup since. This was the week after I got it done. I got a refund from the owner but that's not enough. Im not asking for anything from the shop, I just can't believe she still has this awful artist in the shop. Many other artists that were there when I was being butchered are no longer there but she is. Shyla should not be allowed to even touch another human being with a pen, let alone a tattoo gun she can't even handle. This tattoo means so much to me and I don't want anything different. I don't know what to do about it, like I said she went so deep that laser isn't an option, besides it being more expensive than a coverup. It truly has destroyed my self confidence. I avoid looking at it as much as I can. When I do see it, it makes me want to take a blade to it and slice it off. I really, really can't believe that person is still working there. Please be aware that if you book with Shyla you will have shaky lines, be in more pain than you should be, there will be stray lines all over your tattoo, and she will not follow through on her word. Do not book with Shyla. I will paste my original review below. ive had two bad experiences here and this most recent one has completely ruined how i view myself. the first one was with a piercing. i got my industrial here a few months ago and while i am aware industrial piercings may never heal, this one has not only not healed but it's also infected to this day i just took it out because i can't handle having two botched body modifications from the same place. the person who pierced me was extremely nervous and awkward, they were unhygienic, and had a hard time piercing through one side of my ear. i bled so much that they were wiping it off my hair. the side they had a hard time piercing through has had so many bumps and has caused so many headaches. this last time i went in for a tattoo. this is just the worst thing i've ever gotten. i contacted the artist about a week prior to today and asked for an exact replica of a barbed wire heart i have on my left thigh with words in the exact same font. this person confirmed they could do it and we set up the appointment and it was left at that. i came in for the appointment and i was told she actually could not do this because she couldn't copy the design from the photo i sent her. she chose to freehand the design. the font looks nothing like the font i have on my left thigh, it's slanted and off center from the heart, which i couldn't vocalize because she tattooed the lettering before doing the heart. the heart has many many stray lines it looks nothing like the heart on my left. i offered her the original reference picture for the left heart to make things easier, in my mind she could've printed the reference out or made it into a stencil quickly but she seemed bothered by the offer and got defensive. she ignored the reference and continued to freehand the design i specifically asked to be exactly recreated. the d in the word coward (get up, coward were the lyrics i wanted done) is so far spaced out from the rest of the word it says cowar d. the whole thing looks awful. she then spent two hours straight tattooing me with a very thin needle which hurt so much worse than the original tattoo with no breaks, she didn't offer any breaks except for once about 30 minutes into the tattoo. after an extremely painful 2 hours she almost let me walk out with no saniderm, and had to get someone else to put it on me because she has never done it. she did not go over aftercare at all. she kept going in to go over lines, creating stray ones and at one point she seemed to scribble on my leg? i felt more like a guinea pig for this person. i've been to this shop three times n every time there's been something wrong. the first artist no longer works there, but she did a great job despite the slight attitude she had. im so disappointed and upset, i've worked hard to love my body and now it feels like i have to start from zero. i paid three hundred dollars for this garbage. i am beyond devastated, please do extensive research on the artists in this shop. im sure there's great and talented artists there but there's also very new artists that frankly shouldn't be tattooing real people yet. i trusted this artist because her work on her page looked great but she couldn't follow simp read more

Got my ear lobes pierced here back in June by a visiting piercer. She was very friendly, professional, and did a great job. They healed quickly with no complications. She told me I could come back when they healed and they would swap out the long posts they put in while the piercings healed. I came back today to get those shorter posts and I was told I had to pay (the guest piercer was no longer here). This was the first time anyone told me that, as it had been strongly implied there was no more costs associated with this and when I booked my appointment online there was no indication there'd be any cost. I would have simply kept my old posts if I'd known, but before anyone told me there was a cost they'd already opened the packages for the posts. Thus, this process became significantly more expensive than I was expecting. The owner apologized for the miscommunication and offered to refund me. She was very kind and sincere. Hopefully this helps at least one person not make the same mistake. Just make sure you understand (and someone explains) all the costs and THEN get your ears pierced here read more

Got a second piercing by Brielle on my lobes. She made me feel comfortable about what she was doing and made me feel confident about the process. In more detail about my experience: Came across this place on social media. I was looking for a place in San Diego where I'd feel comfortable going to as I haven't got a piercing done since maybe 3-5 years old (I'm a full grown adult now). This shop had one piercer, Brielle, which who was very kind and sweet. I wanted to see jewelry first before deciding on a shop to get piercings done. I contacted Brielle with a couple of questions and was recommended an appointment to view jewelry. Did that and I felt comfortable with her knowledge of what she would do and I thought her jewelry selections were cute! I will definitely come back to see her in a few months for a couple more piercings. Shop environment: Everyone working there was welcoming l and I enjoyed looking at the displays that are interactive even though I didn't interact. Silly to say but even the bathroom was cool. Went here for a septum piercing about 4 months ago. The piercer was not communicative, seemed visibly nervous, and the piercing went through my cartilage instead of the correct spot. It hurt a lot more than it should've, and the piercer remarked out loud that they missed the alignment for my septum but didn't say anything else and didn't offer me any advice for healing it or getting it fixed. The tattoo artists seem good and communicative with their clients but I would not recommend getting a piercing here. read more

Liam was so lovely with helping me choose a font and the size I wanted, and placed it in multiple locations for me to look at before I decided. Had an overall very bad experience here with Mari. I had scheduled a tattoo in May of 2023, and the night of she had canceled due to an emergency (which is completely valid), however, rescheduling with her was a nightmare. She had taken such a long time in between each email to respond (even when I had immediately replied), it took us a month to find a day that had worked for the reschedule. This communication was extremely rude as a client trying to make an appointment which was canceled on her end to begin with. Next, when I had gotten to the appointment in the morning I had to wait an hour after my scheduled appointment time to finally get brought back (I was her first client of the day anyway), she also seemed annoyed to slightly change the design, even though it was not what I had wanted. She also did my tattoo completely in light gray instead of black which I only fully realized after it had healed. Another thing to note was she never discussed the price until the very end, and it ended up being way more than I had expected. It would have been nice to had known the price before the appointment started. In August I had reached out to her asking if she was able to retouch the design in black since I did not expect or want it in light gray. This series of communication (both on email and instagram DM) took weeks in between each response and which she eventually left me on delivered, never to respond whatsoever. This interaction made me feel extremely disrespected. I am getting my tattoo retouched by an artist at a different shop now because of this disrespect from her. It is disappointing because I do really love her work and would have gone back to her to get more things done, but this is by far the worst experience I have had at any shop. The only good thing about this was that the shop was overall clean and very cute. read more
