You know, just take your loss and turn it into little barbs. So, yeah, my mom died unexpectedly in August and I haven't felt much like writing on here since. The future reviews collection stacks up but I planned to make Kaul next and every time I think about it I'm like nah, later. They did a pretty good job. Mom looked alright in the casket with birds on it they had. She had a bit of a frown, like she was disappointed she's dead. We all were. It was a tough time. Jason met with us for over 3 hours, going over particulars. He was pleasant enough. I could tell he meets with the aggrieved all the time. He did make multiple typos in the obituary but we ironed it all out together eventually. The space was what you'd expect for a visitation, at least akin to previous wakes I'd been to. The adjoining kitchen was nice and the food was basic but nourishing and plentiful. We had leftovers for awhile. Kaul made a nice book from the digitized photos we provided for a slideshow, mailed to my dad. And I was able to make a playlist for the visitation on Spotify but it took a good ten minutes for them to figure out how to get their iPad hooked up to the sound system and a bit longer to get the volume at an appropriate level. Not the hugest deal but at times like that little stressors get magnified. I had this grief brain fog which I learned is a thing. All in all, I do think we sent my mom off in style, as painful as it was. It was my first time losing a parent and this is my first time reviewing a funeral home. I can't speak to the financial aspect as my dad footed the bill but there were no major wrinkles in the visitation. Ample room for flowers and photo boards and for family and friends to visit.

I met Mr. Jim Walsh at a time when I really needed a kind, trustworthy, and knowledgeable person to help me down a road I never thought I would have to travel to so soon. Mr. Walsh treated my family and I with kindness, respect, and candor. He was able to help my family and I find a way to show love and tribute to my biggest brother. Jim spoke so elequently in a way that made everyone feel at ease. I had several people come to me and say they were touched in one way or another by different portions of the service and even had people tell me "hey i really like that guy" even though they had never met him one on one. I couldn't have asked for a more comfortable location with many conversation pieces and private areas for reflection. What a beautiful building and welcoming atmosphere. I really felt at ease when I showed up to the final service at the century and saw Jim was there as promised doting every I and crossing every T. His last words to family and I left us with peace and offered comfort in the worst of times. Best of all he made it all seem so effortless and made us feel like we were right where we belonged. From the moment I walked out of the door at Faulmann and Walsh after meeting Mr. Walsh for the time I felt like everything was under control and would be ok. God Bless you Mr. Walsh and thank you for making my family and feel like we were a part of yours.

I think this may have had a different name prior. This was not an expected death. We knew that our loved one had indicated that cremation would be their request which made one of the choices faced by family somewhat comforting. If that can even be possible. Telephonic contact at 6am was prompt and professional. Staff during the funeral was kind and helpful. As one will experience the cost of a funeral is shocking. We chose a short viewing on a Sunday which everyone was pleased with: Family 12-1pm and open viewing 1-4pm. A short wake at Fern Hill Country Club(see review). Let me leave some information here that you will not see in the cremation casket photo. **We chose the Kenzie I think it is called. The cremation casket that is a steel blue in color that opens like a traditional casket but covered in a Demask fabric. A simple cross placed inside. We feared the casket would be unsightly ,however, it was actually very nice!!! We asked for the floral spray to be just slightly larger to cover the portion of the casket that is over the lower body(Van Maele Florest Clinton Township Michigan, see review). It was perfect and even if it had not been slightly larger it would have been fine. You can also use a blanket with the persons fav sports team draped over the area with or without flowers? Two very large sized poinsettias on each side. A few lanterns with battery operated candles, and what a beautiful setting. Listen to this florist! This is big business let's face it. Prices are high but this florist will do for you what they can and make suggestions to make the viewing beautiful. If you are reading this I am sorry for your loss. I hope that this helps you when thinking about using this casket as a choice? We did not regret any choices we made!
