"They're GReat" Haha Presenting itself as street food Mediterranean eatery I saw they offered salads and wanted to try. The food here is pretty good. The best offering I have had is there 'salad.' I believe it was the Pork Soulvaki but this is not just some salad with greens. It comes with a juicy delicious protein and fries and bread and of course the salad. It's a full on meal that will leave you very full. Great flavors. There are several flavors to choose from for the dips and I like to mix and match or blend the dios together. With the dips they give a lot of pita bread. A lot of oil is used for their zucchini chips and I don't think I'll order it again. Sorry people but I have to respectfully disagree with your lavish praise of this sorry place touting to be Greek. First there's nothing fast casual about waiting 20 min for my food. The decor is not fast casual at all but more like an old dated traditional restaurant. Now for the food. The only thing truly Greek on this menu is the avgolemono soup. It tasted ok but the dried out chicken made it disappointing. The pita sandwich was ok but the French fries inside it and a large pile on the side was just overkill. The Zeus bowl is nothing more than dried out meat with a bunch of toppings all on top of a giant bowl od fries. Somebody must really like fries but there's nothing Greek about fries nor are they even street food. It has hot peppers and spicy tziki sauce. It basically tasted like chipotle sauce with jalapeños. Nothing about it was Greek other than the feta cheese. It felt like Mexican style carne asada fries. Also the hummus was bland and very poorly made. The establishment itself if very nice looking, and there are many different options for food and drinks. I ordered the pork plate with some potato-based sauce and the fried zucchini chips. The fried zucchini was really good, and my friend got one to-go for her son. Even the baby was munching on pieces of it throughout our meal! The pork was well-flavored, though I wish it had been cooked a bit more. The meat was pork belly, and very fatty (which also means very flavorful!), but I wished the fat was cooked down just a tad bit more. Experience: I've tried a few items from here that my family has brought home and didn't really like anything except the fries. Finally checked out the menu myself and found some tastier items but the textures were all off because Uber Eats screwed up the order. All my food was cold and isn't the same after it is reheated while soggy. Food: I've tried their chicken & pork souvlaki skewers, beet salad and gyros. Chicken Skewers are decent. Chicken had a good texture but think it's a bit bland. The Pork Souvlaki skewers had a good flavor but slightly chewy texture. Would maybe order the pork souvlaki again since the undesired texture might've been from the order taking too long. Beet salad is fresh tasting but too sweet for me. The figs overpowered everything else after a bite or two. I prefer beets plain or savory in general so if you don't have a preference the salad might be a winner for you. I know my family loves it The Gyro had some picked red onions that I don't like as well as a sauce I didn't care for so next time I'm keeping those out. The cashier give a number and then we headed to table of our choice. When you walk the kitchen is on your left side walk couple more feet away is the fountain drinks and the restroom are very close. The dining room looks really nice. They brought our meal,the food looks awesome. My wife beef kebabs look so good I wanna take a bite that looks of my wife beef kebabs.. My chicken pita or gyro have fries cool I like new twist or adding different thing to these Greek classic and making more changes. So far the best Mediterranean place in Downey. The chicken and the pork was cooked to perfection. It wasn't dry at all and the dips complimented the pork as well as the chicken. The Greek street food at Pita GR is simply delicious. If you've been a Downey resident for at least the past couple of years, you will probably forget all about the previous restaurant that existed. This place has a brand new shiny look now! How to Order - tell them what you want at the counter & wait for your food to be delivered to your table or - peruse their website at https://www.pitagr.com or in-app through Postmates or Grubhub Satiate your "Mamma Mia" palate with a pita! I recommend the pork yeero ($8) because I'd never tried that particular style of meat, but I have heard Pita GR's lamb is an excellent choice. The fries that went with this plate were really good too. My daughter and I shared this meal along with a side of basmati rice ($4). While she wasn't crazy about it, I enjoyed it. The stars of the meal, though, were the scrumptious warm pita bread slices with the tirokafteri, revithosalata, and tzatziki dips. Also available were skordalia and melitzanosalata, but we chose the former for our "dip trio" ($9). My husband especially liked the tirokafteri as it had a slight kick thanks to the roasted hot peppers in its concoction. Parking is free in a shared strip mall environment. It tends to get slightly crowded in this area at certain times of the day - usually the lunch hour until the evening - but you should be able to find spot nearby. The staff members that took our to-go order on 3/8/19 were incredibly nice and helpful. I can't wait to come back for more including the Greek salad, frozen yogurt, baklava, bougatsa, and more pitas! This is by far one of my favorite restaurants. I recently moved out of the area, and whenever I come to visit, I make sure that I come here! The food is fresh. The quality is outstanding, and the service is wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and if you have questions about the menu, they're super open to explaining and helping make recommendations. The spicy feta dip is unbelievable and even though I can't handle much space I get this every time because it is so delicious. We tried the GR Burger with GR fries, zucchini chips, spanakopita, baklava froyo and cucumber lemonade. The GR burger is served with spicy feta, grilled veggies and mustard aioli. More than enough to share. It was spicy for me-but I'm a bit wimpy. The GR fries were so-so, more like a herbed french fry. We really liked the zucchini chips with Greek ranch. They were crunchy and flavorful. The cucumber lemonade was a surprise delight, very refreshing! And please don't leave without trying baklava frozen yogurt, a real treat! Overall 10/10. Pita GR hits the spot. The Zeus fries are AMAZING! The extra $2 for braised lamb is definitely worth it too. You might think $17 for the large Zeus fries is a bit much, but it is worth EVERY penny. This is a great spot in Downey for Greek food! It's spacious and has a cute little patio in the front for outdoor dining. We ordered some pitas the traditional way. Their street style includes toppings like tzatziki, tomatoes, red onions, and fries. Out with the old and in with the new. How did I miss this location for so many years? This location replaced the closed greek restaurant Opa. With a new look and refreshing atmosphere I can't believe I had no idea this location had been open since 2018. Seriously the inside is beautiful! Good job whoever designed it. I tried the first item on the menu, a gyro. A delicious and perfect item for lunch. It had cucumber, sweet innocent lamb meat, avocado, and fries. The server who took my order was great, answering my random questions and having all the answers. Only down side so far is it seems I was the last person to know about this location...
