Staff were trashy. Rude. Dirty. People were yelling and I think they were the owners.

This store is wonderful. Everything is nicely arranged and extremely clean. There's a great variety…read moreof gift items, like wonderfully scented boutique candles and soaps. There are also vintage items, including good quality books, as well as a nice selection of Amish foods. The gentleman working there was very helpful and courteous. This place is a gem for West Plains.

Worst experience! Kinda traumatic. Me and my friend, we're both teen girls, decided to stop in…read morebecause it was advertised as an Amish store and it was near/on the way home and we enjoy Amish goods. It was mostly an "antique" store with a little Amish section. Now to the traumatic part. I walked in on the phone and the guy stopped my friend and talked to her and I listened to their conversation while walking around while also on the phone since I had a weird vibe. I gave it a fighting chance. He was very weird to us. He shoved candles in her face to smell, I finally got off the phone and walked up and he was asking where we were from, where we were, and where we went to school. Normal right? And we answered politely but the tone gave us pedo vibes. I told him I it wasn't half the Amish store I thought it was (trying to leave) and he showed me the Amish section and followed me. Luckily through all of this I had a knife on me (that he couldn't see). He tried selling me the Amish goods but I wasn't interested in any of it. He then walked out and my friend found me and I immediately told her he was being creepy and she agreed so we proceeded to leave. He followed us out the door and asked to look at my livestock and I told him no that we had to get going and he persisted and I told him again that they were stressed and we had to get home and he stood there at my trailer until I drove off. I didn't even put my seatbelt on. I turned the key and left with no direction where I was headed. We're fine but highly disappointed.

Deep in the Ozarks... in the forest there is a sleepy little river town that has an incredible gift…read moreshop. The Great Stuff Gift Shop is a hidden gem along Highway 60 in Carter County's Van Buren, Missouri. Great Stuff Gift Shop (GSGS) is not a fancy place. It is located inside an old house. The word "rustic" comes to mind. There is very little that is new and it is definitely not upscale. That does not matter at all, though. Inside this quaint little house with an old red Ford truck in the yard are treasures beyond measure. Items in this store were not just plopped down for sale. The owners very carefully crafted mini-stories and scenes from which to display their objects. Everything is artfully placed and given a loving touch. The items felt so much a part of the shop, I almost did not want to buy anything because everything fit so well together. I love stores where the proprietors have put effort, creativity and art into their items. This store has a little of everything. There are a few wigs, hats, vintage purses, a slot machine, old books, lovely jewelry, holiday decorations, antique plates and cups. There are lovingly used games and puzzles. Too many wonderful artifacts to mention. I was surprised at the prices. For the quality and uniqueness of the items, I expected prices to be much higher. The price points were more than reasonable. This store is also easy to access. There is plenty of parking and the shop has a private parking lot which is always a plus. The owner was very nice and accommodating. There was no high pressure sales spin here. She did make some handy suggestions based on my interests and I appreciated the guidance. It is challenging to fully describe this store. The atmosphere, the items are just beyond my poor power of description. You have to experience this wonderful, unusual, artistically designed store for yourself. The minute you walk through the doors, you will understand. I left the same way I entered which was by saying "WOW!"
