He came recommended by a friend and after 4 quotes, we felt the most comfortable choosing him. We bought an old home and undertook a massive renovation. We wanted to preserve the original maple floor but also needed to add to it in an addition and in areas where walls had been removed. Jan explained the process and gave a fair and clear quote. Prior to the job, he stayed in touch in regards to our start date (which was forever changing on our part) and although it was tight, he started a week before Christmas. He would send pictures often and stayed in touch throughout the process so that we knew how things were progressing. He was sure to show us small imperfections in the preexisting wood (most of which we wouldn't have noticed) and was clear on what could be fixed and what could not in our over 80 year old floor. He took on more work than he anticipated with this job and the job was extended past Christmas. He was even in on Christmas day. In the end, the laced in wood, the sanding, stain and finish look great. Charming, knowledgeable and very conscientious.

The transition to the new place took some time, so we never unpacked the carpet. Weeks later it became apparent that the carpet would be a tripping hazard (her vision is not the best). What were we going to do with this new carpet? It had been weeks since we bought the carpet but Bill Knight Flooring listened to our unusual circumstances and agreed to take it back into their show room and try to sell it. Happily they did and we got a full refund. Thank you Bill Knight for your exceptional customer service!

The carpet that was delivered was the wrong colour (apparently it had been mislabeled) but discovered only after the old carpet had been ripped out and we had to endure 2+ weeks of bare floors and exposed tack strips. The gentlemen we dealt with was nice and personable but he talked our ear off (a little too much) when all we wanted was just straight info and advice on what to do with our space. Anyhow, we were looking at flooring for only one room (as a start) so I don't think he was overly interested in our business, that is, relative to other jobs. Feels like they like the big projects and/or commercial stuff. Just a feeling I got even though that if they had won me over, there would be more flooring projects as we slowly renovate our house. Pricing wise, after adjusting for the different style of carpet, their estimate was within the range of the other 2 quotes I obtained.

They have website coupon that they advise you to use, which is strange that they don't just apply the discount. Anyways, I really liked them and their pricing came within the range of the other 2 I looked at. The only thing that worked against them in my final decision was that they sub-contracted out their installation so then I would have to pay the installers separately after they finished the job. I just wanted to pay once and deal with one person and not with sub-contractors so that's why I didn't choose them.

Their sq foot estimates came in so much higher than every other quote we had, I talked to them at length about it because the other estimates we got were all dramatically lower. The estimator told us not to worry about it, we can just return the extra. The LVP flooring showed up months later than promised. So much so that it pushed us into the dead on winter so all cutting work had to be done from inside the house and slowed the project down considerably. Of course, as expected it was WAY to much flooring, we ended up with 405 sq feet of extra flooring. So much extra that I was able to do everything we were originally quoted for plus an entire master bedroom, walk-in closet and hallway and I still had 3 boxes left. After all this, they still wouldn't take take the 3 boxes left over because they say it took us too long? Do yourself a favor, go to the Floor Show, they did our main floor and were way better to deal with.
