The Spitzer family of dealerships is new to our area. Between my wife and I we have delt with the…read morelocal ford dealerships through 12 automobiles. This time was through four different owners of the local Ford dealership. Three years ago my wife bought our second Ford edge. She worked with a salesman that she has dealt with for awhile under the Stoltz family of dealerships. Everything went smoothly and she was happy. The next year the Spitzer family took over. My wife leases cars for the business she works for. She picked out a Ford Explorer to lease a week before she was to sign the lease they sold the Explorer she picked out. A month or two later Spitzer got another one similar to the one she picked out. The day she scheduled to sign the lease and pick up the Explorer she had her boss and the head of the Board with her to have everything signed. The Explorer was not ready and they all had to wait two hours to get the vehicle. One thing the Stoltz family would do with a new car was fill it up with gas. This wasn't done. My wife's boss was very upset. The head of the Board mentioned maybe another dealership with more professional people could do the next lease. I'm not done. Six months later I was ready to trade in my SUV for an Edge that was on the Spitzer lot. I really liked the equipment that was on this Edge. I went to Kelly Blue Book to check out the trade in value of my SUV. The quote I got back was reasonable to me. The Kelly Blue Book guarantees that value and sends it out to dealers in my area. I was contacted by five dealerships and they all said they could match that price. The Spitzer Ford Dealership in St. Marys said I had to bring it in so they could inspect it before they would give me a trade in value. I brought it in and turned the keys over to a salesman I had previously worked with. The sales manager was the person looking at my vehicle and test driving it. The appointment to do this test drive was done 4 days before I arrived. I waited with the original salesman for an hour and a half. Finally the sales manager took us into his office. He started off that the SUV was in good shape BUT there was a recall on my SUV and he wouldn't honor tha Kelly Blue Book price. The recall I received for my vehicle from Hyundai had to do with a factory installed trailer hitch. My SUV was not equipped with a trailer hitch. After an hour and a half this Sales Manager at the Spitzer Ford Dealership in St.. Marys told me he had to take off $2,500 from the Kelly Blue Book Price. I told him to stick that quote where the sun don't shine and left. I was offered the Kelly Blue Book quote from a GMC Dealership and two Ford dealerships that were more than 50 miles away. I kept looking for a Ford Edge similar to the one I turned down. Two months later a sales girl at the Spitzer Dealership in DuBois, PA called me and told me that they had traded a Ford Explorer for a Black Ford Edge from the St. Marys Dealership. I set up an appointment and traveled to DuBois to see if it was the one I had previously test drove. It was and I had the most recent Kelly Blue Book price with me to give to the salesman. After five minutes he came back to me with a trade in value $1,500 over the Kelly quote. My total time there was 20 minutes I bought the Edge there and will never buy a vehicle from Spitzer Ford in Saint Marys again. My wife also is sold on the DuBois store and will be leasing her company's vehicles there. I checked the Spitzer Ford Dealership two weeks later on the internet. My SUV was on there web page for $3,500 over the trade in price they gave me and it was already sold. Now would you keep a salesmanager that could f_ck up a deal like that to a good customer?????
