Found this spot in North bend while visiting and thought of coming this am for a coffee and wanted to catch on work. The coffee shop is good with decor, seating and drinks- no complaints on that. But the barista, a lady is extremely rude. My partner and I came in and headed to get a spot as it was filled with people. We wanted to order after few people left as there wasn't any space to stand. After about 15 mins, thr barista walks up to us and says 'you'll have to order something to stay here'. We let her know we would be doing it, she was in a hurry, so couldn't add anything else. She came back again after 5 minutes only to tell us again to order, else we can't sit in here. My partner let her know that he'd taken a medicine and needs to wait for 45 mins to drink/eat anything. She replied sorry and left, only to be speaking about us to another customer in not so good way. We have never felt so uneasy in any coffee spot till now and have always always have had sweet baristas. We immediately got up to order only to avoid another call from her and were utterly upset the way Pioneer coffee incident happened to us.

I'm currently sitting in the back of the café, sipping an Americano and dying over the smell of fresh pastries. There's a couple girls chatting over coffees with the cutest mugs, an older gentleman designing on his laptop, his golden retriever sits by his side. This is the perfect morning hangout after we spent the night at the North Bend Film Festival events. I've spotted a couple people I saw around the event last night so it's nice to feel like I'm part of the community even though I'm only here for the weekend. Yea, I'm happy here and I wish I had a cafe like this back home.

One of our favorite coffee spots! They have seating both inside and outside. The baristas are always nice and friendly. They have a little lending library inside, which I'm a total sucker for. Love a good lending library haha. I highly recommend their London Fog tea latte and a molasses cookie. Yum! Perfect on a drizzly day!

White coffee, always a bonus. Service is OK. Ambience, it's okay. I love the local artwork, the shop is just small and a little crowded.

One of the best outside areas I've come across at coffee shops/cafes. Their signature drink selection is quite fun. I opted for the Bee in a Tree latte, which is made with burnt honey and cinnamon, and enjoyed it (I usually get plain lattes!). They have steamers for kiddos - I got my daughter one with the burnt honey flavor and she loved it. The pastry selection is wonderful though I would personally give a 4/5 to all the ones I tried. The matcha almond cake uses almond extract which I personally don't like. The white chocolate raspberry muffin didn't have the white chocolate come through enough and could use more raspberries. My daughter chose the double chocolate muffin which didn't seem to actually have chocolate chips in it. Other notable mentions - free wifi, clean bathroom, and an adult only upstairs seating area. Parking is in back and could feel limited if it's busy. We came on a Wednesday morning and there weren't many spots remaining. It's also right next door to the library! Overall, great cafe and kid friendly for those interested :)

Breakfast Burrito (3): It's a very small, bite-sized, refrigerated burrito in their customer accessible fridge as you walk in. They have a veggie and a chorizo. I opted for the chorizo. It was actually pretty tasty and the salsa they serve it with was a verde salsa which was slightly sweet with a slight kick. Not too spicy. It was good just very small especially for $10. Medium Roast Drip coffee (4): decent drip. Overall, this was a nice cafe and likely your only option in the area for breakfast burritos and decent coffee.

Of course I keep forgetting to take a picture of my coffee, but I'm gonna tell you all about it…read more This is the first (and only, so far) place I've gotten coffee on the island, but I can't bring myself to try anywhere else yet. They had a sign up the first day that advertised a rose honey latte special, and I love all of that, so I ordered it large and iced. It was amazing. I like my lattes with flavor, but I also want to be able to take the coffee and get a balance. If my coffee doesn't taste like coffee, it's too sweet. I could taste all the elements here and it's clear they use good, high-quality ingredients. They even topped it with rose petals! One day I strayed and ordered one of their specialty mochas, which I am generally hesitant to order because they're often way too sweet. I saw they use Holy Kakow syrup and know that's pretty good stuff. The mocha was really good, but also over $9 for a large before tip. That's my main complaint about this is that it's expensive. That being said, it's Vashon Island and most everything is super expensive. My large, iced latte is under $8 before tip and that feels more justifiable. This is overall a really cool place to check out with some cool history. The tea selection is absolutely amazing, though I'm too much of a coffee person to try it.

When you walk in, you're immediately hit with the smell of the roasted coffee beans, and you can see them roasting the beans from inside the shop. So cool! They have a wall of teas, a case of baked goods, and so much more that I probably even missed some things, like checking out the bookstore. I was feeling a bit worn from my travels so I decided on a Golden Mylk instead of opting for coffee. The Golden Mylk was a perfect blend of spices and creaminess. Very cozy, warm, and the perfect drink for a cloudy day. I also tried the Vashon Fog which was delicious. Not too sweet, and you could taste the tea over the milk, it didn't taste watered down. You have to check them out if you visit Vashon island!

Adding to the continued expansion of awesomeness, Yakima now has its own nano roasters!…read more A lovely couple started roasting beans out of their house about 6 months ago and had such a following that they decided to open up a little shop from which to sell said roasty beans! Located off Tieton next to a salon, a gym and a taqueria, it's a perfect place to grab your fix and go. This isn't a coffee shop, but rather a roaster, so you're only buying beans. The place is only open a couple times per week for folks to pick up orders (or buy more) and also for the roasting to be done. A quick tour revealed some really cool stuff they've done! Currently they're offering 4 different types of beans that they've sourced from all over the world. They're working to make sure the beans are fairly sourced from farmers in different regions so they have a variety and maintain the integrity of the product. It's pretty rad at its core! Non-pretentious, solid coffee, that benefits the people buying and selling it. The store is small, but with lots of character. The roaster they use is American made with American materials and is 100% awesome! Said roaster is the centerpiece and the art on the walls is from local artists. They've decided to not take a commission to everything that's sold benefits the ladies who've produced that pictures. Good stuff! At present, the bags retail for $15 each and they've got beans from Ethiopia, Sumatra and Mexico. Not the least expensive coffee you'll find, but truthfully not bad. It's less expensive than most of the stuff you'll find at any national chain, but this is actually benefiting the area A welcome addition to town and run by some great folks! Even if you don't like coffee, you definitely know someone who does, and as such it's worth your time to get them a bag of beans from here!

Finally we have an amazing coffee roaster in Yakima!!!…read more I went to Basalt Roasters on a Monday and it was tiny but BEAUTIFUL inside. The owner showed me the various kinds of coffee beans they carry. She was very friendly and eager to help me. They only had Latin American single origin coffee beans at that moment. I bought the Guatemalan and Mexican coffee. I tried them both and I fell in love the Mexican single origin coffee. The Mexican coffee smells so intoxicating and it tastes amazing. Unlike most coffee beans, they did not smell or taste burnt. They were bright and rich. The only downside of this place is that they're only open on Mondays and on certain hours during the day. If you're a coffee snob or just love coffee in general- I would totally recommend this place.
