I've now done five classes and I'm so excited about his new space in Walnut Hills, which will provide options for all sorts of events. His creativity and imagination is endless and his students benefit as a result. Like the name says, this is not your average paint-n-sip. The drinks are flowing and it's a full bar with beer, wine, and liquor, as well as n/a options. You get guidance from a theme and inspiration photos and images, but you ultimately decide what you're going to paint. Some people choose to recreate an existing piece but many go wild, like I do. The Pendleton Art Center space was brilliant and eclectic and full of color and inspiration. I have high hopes that the Walnut Hills space will be the same and I'll be one of the first ones there. James is a delight. He's supportive and encouraging but absolutely no-nonsense. He will give guidance when requested, or gentle nudges when things go awry (or you're taking too long lol). He's an excellent teacher, an outstanding entertainer, and you feel like you're best friends by the end of the class. Do yourself a favor. My daughter decided I should step outside my comfort zone and give it a try, so she took me to a class at Pinot's Palette in Kenwood for my birthday. Well, she was right because I had a really good time! Luckily, we went on a Monday, when there was only one other painter there, so the instructor could go at a slower pace. When we arrived, we were greeted and then ordered a drink before the class started. There was just one employee there who was the cashier, bartender, and our painting instructor. She was very patient and helpful when I struggled occasionally. Because I was new to painting, I didn't get to finish all that I hoped, but I did take home a painting that I'm pretty darn proud of!

Paint nights have been pretty popular the last couple years, and this is a twist on that. Saw the sign out on the sidewalk a couple months ago and followed them on Facebook. Of course being The Lion King fan I am, I saw this event of "Jungle King" and had to go. Went step by step how to pain Simba on the tree (the one Rafiki paints). It was a 1.5hr event for the 8x10, and we finished a little before that. The owner was amazing, has a great sense of humor, and overall very helpful in completing your masterpiece. The establishment itself has a lot of paintings on the walls, beautiful and creative-- that you could decide to do during their business hours. Literally, during their hours, as long as they do not have a class going on, you can come in, grab a canvas and some paint, and paint whatever your heart desires. They will be around to help if you have questions (they do not paint it with you but can offer advice etc). Or, just paint whatever you want! The possibilities here are endless! For their events/classes, find them on Facebook!! They usually have something every week. It was very easy to RSVP online and pay for the tickets (which was $10 for 8x10 for this particular event) and the price is VERY reasonable!!! They get sent to your email, then you just show up on the day, give them your name and # of people that are going to paint, and paint away! They also have the option of calling and booking a private event for up to 30 people. This would be a great ladies night out or a fun way to spend time with friends, family, or co-workers. I will DEFINITELY be back here again, can't believe I didn't try this sooner!
