    Khao soi beef short rib
    Derek T.

Thai food is here and there so what's the big deal about this one? I dunno, try the Khao soi beef short rib and find out why. It's creamy, it's flavorful, it's got a giant short rib bone in that slides right off. Is that enough for you? No? The portions are generous too so you'll be nice and full. Slide the meat off, mix everything together for a hearty meal full of protein and noodles and what not. Feeling seafood? Then try the Khao soi seafood curry udon instead. My wife got that and barely got to share any with me. That's how good it was. Hefty amounts of shrimp and mussels with udon. Way creamy and delicious too, at least from what little pieces I got to steal from her. So all in all, this was a banger of a restaurant that's a little lowkey but definitely worth trying. Parking kinda sucks but there's a parking structure out back they'll validate for as long as you don't exceed 90 minutes.

During Happy Hour, they have amazing prices on appetizers and drinks! Highly recommended for a great deal right off Hollywood Boulevard. It's a great place to head to before a movie screening at TCL Chinese Theater like we do! It's right around the corner and I wish more tourists would get off the chains on the main strip and scurry over here. Their crab wontons are fantastic! Nicely crisped by the deep frying and plump, full of cream cheese and real dungeness crab. Would get again for sure. After reading reviews, I found a common theme that the Khao Soi here is highly regarded - some even calling it the best in LA! I concur it is delicious with several protein options~ I enjoyed the crispy chicken in mine. Great portion size, very spicy, and very delicious. This Northern Thailand dish is done well here. Service is always quite friendly! Plus they have a cute little outdoor patio that transports you out of Hollywood and into a garden oasis. However even if seated indoors, it's colorful and fun! Just a great place to grab a bite in the tourist area of Hollywood!

Tried this place for the first time and it definitely made it into our Thai rotation! Everything is delicious, portions are good sized, and they are so lovely and friendly. The garlic noodle appetizer was one of the best things we had. Everything is well sauced and not dry at all compared to other Thai takeout. Also got a lychee martini and Thai tea and they were fantastic. Inside is very colorful and decorated. It is a nice change from a lot of modern restaurants that lack decor. If you like Thai, I highly recommend pink pepper!

Parking has changed. The restaurant will only validate for 90 minutes after that time you will be charged the FULL daily rate of 15.99. Make sure you know you license plate number because they need it for validation. It was a little loud in restaurant during this visit between the people and the constant moving of tables. The food was good but I can tell that portion sizes have been scaled back. The service is still great.

Fast and friendly service. The Thai tea tastes great and I love the decorations around the restaurant gives it a great ambiance.

Pink Pepper is very close to where we live. Walked in around 8 pm on a Sunday night to a surprisingly empty restaurant & was seated immediately. Our server was friendly & brought us water right away. All of the food came out within 15 minutes! We ordered the Tom Yum with Vegetables (Cup), Tom Kha with Shrimp (Pot), Khao Soi Braised Beef, Ba-Mee Pok Pok, Crab Fried Rice, & Thai iced tea. We enjoyed everything but the Tom Yum. It was interesting & the spices were there, but not really any of our vibes. The Tom Kha was yummy! Fragrant & the coconut milk made the dish standout. Crab fried rice could be more flavorful. My boyfriend got the Ba-Mee Pok Pok (with char siu). We liked it. Coconut ice cream was yummy. Now for the famous Khao Soi dish - we saw so many videos recommending it. I ordered it with braised beef since our friend was taking care of the bill & I didn't want to order the most expensive option. The noodles were flavorful & the beef was tender. We'll definitely try the short rib version next!

This hidden spot in Hollywood was cute. Indoor and outdoor seating available and service was alright. The pad thai was one of the best I ever had and thai tea was great also. My friend ordered a soup which came out a bit later than my meal and ended up being a bit cold so they were able to go back and warm it up. Prices are pretty high and I didn't feel like it reflected the service. Portions are also very small.

    PAD THAI SOFT SHELL CRAB

I decided to try Pink Pepper after seeing a reel on IG from lisaeatsla. Not many thai restaurants have khao soi so I decided to bookmark it to give a try. In the video she recommended the khao soi, pad thai with soft shell crab and a couple other dishes. The menu is a little on the pricier side so my friend and I split on those 2 items and a mango with sticky rice. The khao soi with beef short rib was $30, pad thai with soft shell crab was $21 and mango with sticky rice was $8. The food took a little longer to come out but that just means they are making it fresh. It came out piping hot and my friend and I didn't leave a crumb to spare. The khao soi was flavorful, creamy and had some nice heat to it. The noodles were al dente, with a mix of veggies and crispy noodles on top. The beef rib was fall off the bone, had a good ratio of fat on it and meat was super tender. This dish was a 10/10 and we drank all the rich and flavorful soup. My friend even wanted to order a bowl of rice to mix the leftover soup with it but we decided to save our stomach for dessert after. The pad thai noodles were cooked to perfection and had a chewy texture to it. It wasn't like other restaurants where it was mushy but had a nice chew to it. The chili flakes gave it a nice kick and balanced well with the overall sweetness of the noodles. The soft shell crab was fried to perfection and were 2 whole crabs. It was basically a whole appetizer on its own. The mango with sticky rice was good but it was missing the mung bean on top. Instead it came with sesame which was my first time eating it like that. The sticky rice was served warm and had coconut milk on top. My friend said he wished there was a tad bit more coconut milk but overall was good enough. The mangos were sweet and fresh as well. They have a lot next to the restaurant which Pink Pepper validates for 90 minutes. They have a sign that says if you stay past 90 minutes the validation is voided and it will cost about $15 for parking. There was street parking when we went so we didn't park inside the lot.

What a treat! You walk in and it's got really pretty lighting everywhere with hanging silk wisteria flowers. Nice comfy wall booth seating and outdoor patio with twinkly lights. Metered street parking. Came in for lunch and didn't have a problem with parking and was seated right away. Bambi took exceptional care of me. Extremely attentive and very, very sweet. I started with the chicken satay and oh my goodness. The chicken was very, very tender and flavorful with 4 skewers & meaty portions & the satay sauce was out of this world. Nice little chopped cucumber and onion salad with it was lovely. Great flavors on everything. Then I had the lunch special chicken Penang curry and it came with a house salad with nice greens and carrots with a lovely sweet tangy dressing, two chicken dumplings with a nice dipping sauce, a side of rice and the Penang was scrumptious. The cabbage, peas and the peppers were all cooked perfectly and the chicken was abundant. Everything was very, very flavorful and the dish had a medium heat level which I love. I wanted to order the lychee cocktail but they weren't serving those until 5 PM so settled on a nice glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Very decent prices on everything. I can see why this place has been in existence for 30 years! Can't wait to come back and get some chicken pad Thai! Highly recommend!

First time here and I know it won't be my last. Food are so delicious and fresh. I love all dishes we've ordered. The service is friendly and knowledgeable with the dishes. The do have inside and outside seating area. They also have full bar here for you to enjoy. Parking lots behind the building, first 90mins free

Chicken Curry (Best Seller Curry item). Best seller? Id recommend the pad Thai over this. 3/5
    Daniel B.

All in all, not bad. Ordered the pad Thai and the yellow curry chicken curry via uber eats as they offered me a generous 30% off both main dishes, so the question I have to ask: Is there quality in the value ? Yellow chicken curry: just okay. Ordered spicy, and it could have used more spice. I couldn't help but notice the huge peppered clump in the middle as if they intentionally forgot to blend it in the broth. Never seen that one before. Based. Do people still use that phrase ? Anyways, The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly even though it was a little stringy in places. The carrots were too sweet and over cooked. Potatoes -- acceptable temperature . Where are the onions though ? A bit of a strange curry brew, but not a complete disaster, and at the very least it had enough flavor . 3/5 The pad Thai was phenomenal . Sweet. Sour. Salty. The holy pad trinity. Gotta give it up for this one. They knew what they were doing here. The trim of the noodle had all the signature tangy salt tasty taste. The chicken was a generous portion. For $12 via uber eats, you cannot go wrong here.

Khao Soi Beef Short Rib So tender that the meat came right off the bone. Highly recommend trying this! Noodles in the curry.

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also brought me a real plate and utensils to eat here. She let me know that when I was ready she'd bring a bag which I thought was thoughtful. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. This place is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and that's why it's so disheartening to write this…read morereview. I have written at least 2 glowing reviews of the restaurant in the past and wish this could be one of them, but it's not. Over the last 4-5 days I have tried no less than 2 dozen times to call the restaurant during proper business hours to order food for pick-up as I often do. The phone rang and rang to no avail. I live too far from the restaurant to just pop up and place an order so I rely on calling ahead. I have been a customer of this restaurant for at least the last 9 years and have almost never had the aforementioned experience. Though I do recall not being able to get a call through several times on one or two occasions in the relatively distant past. Today I was finally able to get a call through and began placing my order which includes shrimp. I ALWAYS request the tail (with shells) to be removed from the shrimp as I find it quite difficult to enjoy my meal if I'm constantly having to pick off shells with my hands. It's unsanitary and messy. Removing the tails from 15-20 shrimp prior to adding to an entree or soup should take no more than 60 seconds and that's if one is moving at a glacial pace. However, today I was told that the kitchen was too busy to honor my request. I assured the lady taking my order than I was a loyal customer and make this request will every order I place and it is always honored. She repeated her claim that the kitchen was too busy and refused to do it. I cancelled my order and ended the call. Now I usually order food from the restaurant 4-5 times a month and usually spend about $65 each time not including tip. That is approximately $325 per month of my hard earned money that I give to this restaurant in exchange for great food and service. I am appalled and quite upset that having been a loyal customer for almost a decade and spending as much money there as I do per month that they could at least honor my patronage by simply taking an additional 60 seconds in the kitchen to make my meal more enjoyable. Her refusal to do such a minuscule task has deeply soured my experience with Hoy-Ka not to mention the fact that I could not reach the restaurant for almost a week by phone for no apparent reason. I will not be going back to this restaurant until they rectify this situation.

Each time I've come the waitstaff has been super friendly, and the food amazing. So, when planning a little birthday lunch for my mom's 81st birthday, this was one of the first places I thought of. My mom lives in south LA and we live in the valley, so after picking her up, we wouldn't have to travel far to eat. Although we planned to arrive to the restaurant at 2, traffic was horrible and we arrived at 230pm. After looking for parking, I dropped the fam off at 2:40 so they could sit and look at the menu while I found parking. I get a text from my husband saying they closed at 3 so hurry. This was news to me, as I thought they closed at 5. I found parking and rushed in at 2:48, to see my family outside the restaurant. Perplexed, I went in to ask if we could still eat, as it wasn't yet 3pm. No wait staff came to the front to greet me, so I walked in a bit and asked the waiter if it was okay to eat. The waiter said we close in ten. I said I thought the website said you closed at 5. I must have read it wrong. I understand, but it's not 3 and we came a bit of a distance and it's my mom's 81st birthday. The waiter, whose name is Jack, offered to ask the kitchen if they would still make food. I said yes please would you ask? While Jack was asking, another waiter asked me if I had been helped. I told him yes, that Jack was asking the kitchen if we could still have lunch. This waiter says, we're closing in 10. I'd like to have lunch too. And walks away. Yes, with shade. Jack returns and says it's fine as long as we can order within a few minutes of getting the menu. I say great and we all come in. The 2nd waiter takes our order with the least amount of personality he possibly can, and the whole lunch is slightly awkward and we're not able to truly enjoy ourselves with the feeling of "we better hurry up and eat" lingering. By the time we ordered and received our food (which was delicious as usual) , there were still 4 other groups of customers there, and we actually left the restaurant within a minute or two after the last customers before us. Also, no one came around to ask how our food was and if we needed anything. I'm giving 3 stars because this experience didn't quite sit right with me. Yes, it was near closing, but your doors weren't closed and there was no sign saying last call/order at 2:45 or anything like that. I feel like once the kitchen approved making our lunch, customer service should have been at its peak for paying customers, who gave no attitude and tried to be as polite with the ask as possible. It was not. I still tipped 25%, because Jack (waiter 1) was polite and my 81 old mama who I was celebrating raised me that way, but I'm not sure I'll patronize them again.

After one meal, this is already one of the best Thai spots I've tried in LA!…read more Came with friends and ordered a bunch of dishes, and every single plate was ridiculously delicious. The Pad Thai was the best I've had outside of Thailand. Extremely well balanced, not too sweet, not too tangy, not drowning in sauce, just perfectly done with great noodle texture and loaded with shrimp. The Pad Kee Mao was so flavorful. Smoky, spicy, full of flavor, and had that proper "wok hei" char that makes noodles addictive. The Pad See Ew was equally rich and savory, and deeply satisfying. We also got the turnip omelette (Kai Jeow with preserved radish) and it blew my mind, honestly. It is so simple, but packed with flavor. Somehow one of the best egg dishes I've ever had. The morning glory with pork was another standout, super fresh, garlicky, and cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot, portions were generous, and the whole table went silent because the food is too good to talk through lol. On top of that, the servers were super nice, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better despite how busy it was :) Packed restaurant, amazing energy, AMAZING food. This place just ruined average Thai food for me. Already thinking about when I'm going back!!!

I really wish I can love this place but it's really disappointing. What once was known as the best…read moreThai food in LA, is no longer the case. We got the raw shrimp salad, spicy catfish and bbq pork over rice. The raw shrimp "salad" is probably the best thing we've ate, but the chili sauce was over powering and couldn't really taste the freshness of the shrimp. And I feel like there could've been saw garlic to go along with it, but nope, just decorative cabbages that is not edible. As for the bbq pork over rice, the sausage was good and the crispy pork too. But the BBQ pork itself was HORRIBLE I literally spit it out. It tasted like old refrigerated dry meat, barely edible. And then the spicy catfish, the portion was so small, it looked like someone ate half of it. The pieces very tiny and it was so dry it tasted like it was refried. The spicy sauce didn't help much. And I overheard the table next to us waited around 30 mins for their dishes. Overall, I'll not be coming back here. There are much better Thai spots than this. Not to mention the parking is horrible as it was valet only on a Saturday.
