This is a cozy café with pretty decent food. Although seating was a bit crowded, the other customers were courteous to me and offered to move a bit to make space. I got a chicken jianbing, a slice of pumpkin pie, and an americano. The jianbing was fresh and savory, and the pumpkin pie was sweet and filling. The americano was pretty standard. The only thing I would suggest is that the staff serve items according to Western eating customs. The guy gave me my pumpkin pie before the jianbing, which was kind of weird. The jianbing came ten minutes later. Having followed logical order of main course before dessert would have made this visit 5-star for me. I'd go back. read more

Pros: Cute place right on Austin Street. Coffee cups were whimsical. Coffee was good. Service was pleasant. Cons: Everything else--mostly I'm talking about the food. Which was gross. A gem on Austin street. Their bubble tea is second to none, absolutely the most delicious I have ever had (especially the mango and taro). I was excited to try pink forest but when I went today i was quite disappointed. The positives: the decor is cute and the cafe is clean, the employees were nice, that's about it. The oatmeal i ordered was not done and very watery, my oatmilk matcha latte did not taste like matcha or oatmilk, it was still green though? And the toasted bagels i ordered were cold and tough. My order took long to arrive, i had to remind them of the coffee and matcha lattes twice, a couple of other people behind us received their orders before us. Nice little spot to have a quick bite. I stopped by and had something to eat, It's basically on of these places where they take your order at the counter and they bring it to you. I ordered the bacon and tomato omelette which I have to say was pretty good, don't expect the diner or deli type of food here. It's a small cozy place where you can just stop by and grab some coffee (which is pretty good) and just hang out with friend or family. First time visit. I order at the register, and take a seat as I wait for my food (chicken bahnmi) and Thai bubble tea to go. I get the tea in ~5 minutes or so. After ~18 minutes I ask about the bahnmi, they forgot to make it. I knew the orders of those who were behind me and in front of me. Felt like the cashier wasnt fully paying attention. I did get apologies after they realized the mistake. The tea was fairly small for the price, and the bahnmi was expensive compared to some other, much better tasting places. Joju for example charges only 8 for it's largest bahnmi which is a monster of a sandwich. While the taste wasn't bad, it was obvious the meats aren't prepared or marinated beforehand and just douced with sauce at the time of making. $14 for a meal is too expensive. The equivalent at joju (highest ranking bahnmi in this areA) would cost me under $10 read more

I still go to Pink Forest regularly. One of my favorite times is early morning, shortly after it opens, primarily because I'm usually one of maybe 2 people in the place and they still have not figured out how to move orders through in a timely manner. But, I like the coffee, and atmosphere. What has really started to irk me however is the frequent coffee buyer card. Buy 10 cups of coffee and the 11th (small) cup is on the house. If I'm going to buy coffee anyway, it's a nice perk, and it helps justify why I'm spending $2.18 on a small cup of coffee (honestly, the coffee at Michael's bagel store on Ascan Ave is just as good, and a large cup is $2.00). The problem with these cards is that they're stamped in light pink, and because the stamp barely shows up in some instances, they'll just keep stamping over the same spaces. It's happened more than once. Usually, they acknowledge the mistake and fix it. Today however the person behind the counter decided to argue with me about it. Insistent that the pink marks I'm seeing on my card aren't actual stampings. Arguing with me over what ultimately may cost Pink Forest $0.20 for a small cup of coffee. I paid for my cup of coffee, stopped arguing over the stamp, and left disgruntled. Not a nice start to my day. Not good business for Pink Forest. Will I continue to go to Pink Forest? Maybe. Most likely less often than I do now, and I definitely will no longer bother with the card. More and more however I really do think about opening a coffee place in Forest Hills. What Red Pipe and Pink Forest have proven is that this neighborhood can now support a place for coffee and a small bite. We used to have a couple way back when. Before it was "hip". Two of them were actually really nice spots -- just a bit ahead of their time. For now, Forest Hills continues to be mired in mediocrity. read more

I was really happy to see such a cute new place opening on Austin Street. Tonight I stopped by for a jian bing, and it was delicious. I'm excited to come back to try the banh mi and the cold noodle dishes, as well as their coffee menu. It looks like a cozy place to come and hang out, too, if you want to eat there. I saw a couple of people having dinner, and one person working on a drawing. It makes me sad to see the negative reviews on here from their first few days of business. First of all, service was pretty good. My friend and I ordered the Jian Bing. They are tasty, but lack of real ingredients. There was barely any egg/lettuce in there. If it were served rolled up, it would be way easier to eat. For the price, I think the customers deserve one whole egg in a sandwich. Ah and the Americano medium tasted like crazy diluted coffee. Nice atmosphere. Small but not crowded. GOOD COFFEE. You can get hot beverages in an actual mug which is always nice, and I'm pretty sure no two mugs are alike but they're all adorable. Every ten coffees earns you a free one. The food is terrific. I almost always get the jian bing (which comes in sweet and savory varieties). The staff is friendly and accommodating. The bathroom is always clean. Not a lot of power outlets but a very comfortable place to work or chat. My one complaint is that they close too early. They close at 8:00 and they could at least stay open until 9:00 or 10:00. (During winter they close even earlier! ) I'm here at least twice a week of not more. read more

We waited 10 min for a well toasted bagel with cream cheese which wasn't even well toasted. The tables are dirty and nobody have picked up the coffee mugs or clean the tables. I was walking by this place and noticed they sell Jian Bing, which is something I've always wanted to try, so I walked in. I ordered the bacon and cheese jian bing and after a few minutes I was out the door. The jian bing was flavorful and delicious. The only con for me was that the woman had a plate of food behind the counter and took a bite of her food while my jian bing "wrap" was cooking. That turned me off a little bit. read more

I've come here twice and have thoroughly enjoyed everything I've eaten. I usually get their sandwich with tomato and avocado, but I get daikon added. Their bahn mi is delicious as well! I also like that they have an extensive coffee menu, and iced lattes are tasty and refreshing. I've been here twice so far in my visit to New York. It's a cute shop with its pink theme and cozy atmosphere, however its a cafe with two outlets. Wifi but only two available power outlets. And I can see other outlets but they either have stickers or a plastic plate over them so no one can use them. The food here is pretty good though. The Chicken Banh Mi is good and so is the milk tea. I also went in on a hot day and I think the A/C was out so that wasn't amazing either. read more

This is my second time here! The first time I came I had the Jian Bing and it was awesome - fresh cracker, lettuce and lots of filling and a nice hot kick to it! This time I took it to go, so I'm not surprised that by the time I ate it the lettuce was wilted and the cracker wasn't crunchy any more. But there were no other fillings at all and absolutely no spice (even though we asked for spice). We also tried the banh mi and it was pretty awful compared to banh mi available around Queens. I hope this shop survives but I also hope it gets better!! The shop is super cute and the coffee was great, I just hope their food gets better! read more

I got my coffee and waited 35 minutes before getting up to ask if my order was ready seeing that every one was chill, to find out that they completely forgot about my order. I liked this cafe, they had okay bubble tea and I tried their Bahn Mi and loved it! Staff is pretty great too. It's a nice place to get some work done, as several other people were there doing the exact same thing when I went. my only issue is that they barely have any sockets. I saw maybe one in the entire place. Such a shame because it's hard to find a place to eat + drink coffee + work in for a few hours in the area. I was hoping Pink Forest would be it! I wish there were a way to tip exclusively the young lady who actually makes the drinks. I have come here three times when the bubble tea craving hits. Each time, I have seen this young Asian lady working efficiently to prepare my beverage while the cashier vegetates. The bahn mi here is a rip off! It's mostly bread and they really skimp on the innards. Is the tofu even marinated? Doesn't taste like it. Nice location and I love to support small businesses however, the food is very underwhelming. The pastries are not freshly made and can be soggy. I also ordered a bagel once and I tasted like it was from a supermarket. I do like the decor and the cute coffee mugs and the ambience! So far I've been here twice and I'm a fan. Things I like: - wifi (password is taped to the cash register so you don't have to ask) - they have typical cafe drinks + food (bagel, muffin, etc.) but also offer boba tea, bahn mi sandwiches etc which is a nice change to find in a cafe. I've had the hot match latte, chicken bahn mi sandwich, and iced white mocha drink. No complaints about the food or drink other than that I wish their to go drink sizes were larger. - bathroom access. At first I wasn't sure about this because the sign on the door says "employees only" but if you ask to use the bathroom they let you. It's a pretty bare bones bathroom with a door that's so heavy you might pull a muscle pushing it open, but when you need to go that's hardly a problem. - the music (maybe I haven't gone to enough asian owned cafes but this was the first time I've had korean music playing in the background mixed in with some english songs and I didn't mind it. also the music isn't so loud you can't hear yourself think). -good customer service: I read in some of the other reviews the customer service wasn't that great but for the two times I was there for an extended period of time, I interacted with the staff multiple times each visit and they were all consistently kind, helpful and pleasant. There was one instance where the guy behind the cashier *might* not have been 100% fluent in english so the process didn't flow as easily but I didn't mind. - don't have a minimum to use your debit/credit card. Things that could be improved upon: - the drink sizes is a bit on the smaller size as mentioned before. For reference, their medium is probably a Starbucks tall...and I don't think they offer small sizes on some of their drinks (or could be all, not sure). - i'm pretty much underwhelmed by the selected of muffins, bagels or whatever by the counter. Which is actually a good thing because carbs just go straight to my waistline. Things I don't really care about but might bother some people: - apparently there aren't a lot of outlets - they play kpop music - aforementioned bathroom is ... functional. that's about it. *there is a note by the cashier that says you get a 2 hour min. to stay and work if your purchase is under $10 and it's rush hour but I don't think they're like super crazy strict about that. read more

This tea house / coffee shop is a nightmare!! I do not recommend to anyone. Their prices are high and the food is lousy along with the customer service. They are not customer friendly and the service is slow and deplorable. I went in for breakfast and was very disappointed , my food and money went into the garbage. The pancakes were uncooked , the bacon was poor quality and my hot chocolate was cold. My husbands egg sandwich was horrific , all bread ...no egg or ham . I can't say it's my absolute favorite give there is a lot of cafes in the area but I do visit this place occasionally with friends - it's got an inviting setup and if having your coffee to stay, I'd recommend you have it in one of their mugs (each one is unique and certainly adds to the overall experience!) no other spot locally can compete with their to stay mugs! read more

It fills a very specific niche that went unfulfilled in Forest Hills for a long time. If you are looking for a fairly quiet place to study, use free Wi-Fi, have a small jianbing, this is your spot and they do it well. It's not Red Pipe - This place is way bigger, more well lit and way more many options for food / drink. Red Pipe has a small menu but they do it well. This place is only good at jianbing. It's not Starbucks - Don't expect to be blown away. It's average drinks and food. If you want something better spend the extra 2-3 to go to a fancy cafe. read more
