I agree with everything all the other customers are saying! This is the worse operation in the county! The head of this department should be fired! They never answer the phones and if you go into their office its a very unfriendly place! Three days to get the water turned on! county commissioners need to wake up! Well, on the phone with Pinellas County utilities attempting to pay my bill their automated system took forever for me to get to the section where I make a payment by this time I'm two minutes and 41 seconds beyond the deadline they cut my water off while I am on the phone trying to pay for my water Yesterday, Thursday, July 3 at 4:33 PM today is Friday, July 4. No one is in the office, even though my payment is processed and the system is showing I have a zero balance. I finally got someone on the phone and she told me my water will not be cut back on until Monday so Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Monday. I have no water until they cut it back on over the Fourth of July weekend because I was three minutes late making a payment that their automated system takes seven minutes to finally get to the point where you can pay. I am a retired Navy veteran I have never been treated like this by any utility company anywhere and I have lived in several states, this is absolutely insane that neither myself nor my children can take a shower during one of the hottest months of the year until Monday. This is absolutely insane. This is the worst utility company I have ever seen in my life if they turned things on as quick as they turn things off, they would have a seven star rating. I absolutely hate this company. They completely suck. read more

Worst customer service on the planet! I've been on hold for 30 minutes listening to the message that says they will respond to emails in TWO DAYS! This is a monopoly that you can't avoid and they suck big time! Your water meter has NEVER been checked for accuracy by a 3rd party....never. Not at assembly or installation. Never! Not customer friendly policies when comes to charging the customers. A 10% charge for your late payment is not called for when you are providing one of the most need service for someone. Payment options are also limited as to paying them without inoccuring a charge. Rates have gone up all the time. When it comes to their employees coming to service on their meters etc it does not merit any stars. When one of them came to service their back flow valve, he did not flush the line, creating a panic when there was no water in the side of house where water was turned on first, as all dirt in the line clogged up the strainer and muddy stream of water on that faucet. They came to remove the dead pine tree on the right of way next to side walk and left several 6 inch holes where one could sprain ankle if stepped on while moving the grass.When told about it, we were told it is not our policy to put new grass or fill those holes. Have a seven foot easement on the side of property for them to access the storm water drains behind the property. They were caught driving a midsize truck in middle of my yard. That is called trespassing. Left with severe depressions where truck was driven. When complained, they sent a crew with a compactor to level the ground! Really! You don't compact soil where you are growing something. Eventually that area was leveled with poor quality dirt with rocks,glass and metal debris and not good soil. If you are in North pinellas reclaimed area, and do not have a connection for reclaimed water, I would recommend do not use it. They do not have enough pressure when you need the most in summer. They will shut off the water even on your watering day, and now your sprinkler valves are running without water in line. Make sure you ask what the charges will continue if you ask to disconnect the service after you start it once. This utility department needs to be reviewed by the lawmakers of county who make rules to govern them. We as a customers are shown the rules page and that's it. No responsibilities on their side. read more

They won't direct debit or take advance payments or take bill pay from the bank. To pay online or by phone incurs a Western Union "convenience" fee. I have no doubt that's a further profit driven contractual kickback agreement. Driving half an hour across town and into downtown is the only way to pay your bill without penalty. read more

Just moved into a house in Seminole that requires Pinellas County utilities for water and went to pay the first bill. Not super excited about the fact that they bill every two months, I am a small business owner so every dollar counts every month and my budget is highly structured monthly. Also not happy that linking my bank account to my utility account incurs an almost $4.00 monthly fee to pay via this route, seriously? As a small business owner I have found a company that charges 2.65% per transaction so surely a much larger entity such as Pinellas County can do the same and add this into their service fees, making this entire process dare I say much easier and more modern a practice for their customers. It is the digital age, driving across town or ordering checks to avoid an extra $50 a year is ridiculous. I feel obligated to have to write a check when paying my utilities bill for Pinellas County. I feel nickled and dimed because if I want to pay my bill online, like most normal folks these days (21st century), I have to pay a convenience fee of $3.75 or more, depending on my bill. According to Pinellas Utilities, the fee is charged by their vendor not them. WOW! What's wrong with this? Am I the only one who smells a rat somewhere? It smells to me like a government kickback agreement with some favorite vendor. So write a check I must! I'd give them a minus 1 Star but Yelp doesn't provide that option. read more

I received a letter on 06/18/2018 from Pinellas County Utilities stating that the water meter on my property was stuck and the County replaced it on 03/23/2018. The 06/18/2018 letter was the first notice I had received on this issue from the County. This letter also stated that my previous bill dated 05/21/2018 had been pro-rated because there was no meter reading for 17 days. I was charged for 17,000 gallons and that I owed an additional $50.10 because our actual usage was 24,000 gallons according to the new meter. For the last several plus years, our average usage has been 11,000-13,000. This figure shows right on the bill. There are only 2 adults living in the home and we both work fulltime outside of the home 10 -12 hour days, no pool, we use reclaimed water for the sprinkler system, no leaks, no old flappers, etc. When I called to ask about the usage amount, I was told that the new meter is more accurate. It was basically explained that the old meter was so inaccurate that it only recorded half of our usage and I have been under charged for all these years. You know, be more thankful! I have owned this home for over 15 years and even when my children lived at home, our usage was never 24,000. Moral of this story to my fellow Pinellas County residents, if your meter is changed, prepare yourself for a shock. The other major problem that I see with this issue, if Pinellas County Utilities is aware that they have inaccurate meters and are so-called undercharging due to old and faulty equipment, then take the steps to upgrade your equipment. Or better than that, do not tell your customers to be thankful! read more
